Shea butter, a natural skin conditioning agent, is a great way to improve skin texture and radiance. It contains vitamins A and E, antioxidants, and phytonutrients, which improve skin tone and texture. Shea butter can also be used to create a DIY liquid foundation, which looks and feels like any store-bought alternative. This lotion-based foundation is suitable for all skin types and can be customized to match the user’s skin tone.

To make a homemade powdered foundation, combine cornstarch or arrowroot powder, green clay, and coloring ingredients like ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, or cocoa powder. Set aside the ingredients.

For a natural foundation, combine 2 teaspoons of argan oil or jajoba oil, 1 teaspoon of shea butter, 1/2 tsp emulsifying wax, 1 tablespoon aloe, water, and oil. Add 33 grams of rose hydrosol, 2 grams of glycerine, 0.2 grams of xanthan gum, 2.5 grams of argan oil, 2.5 grams of evening primrose oil, and a double boiler.

Add shea butter, jojoba oil, and powder to a double boiler. This mixture is ideal for dry skin types due to its moisturizing properties. To create waterproof foundation, mix arrowroot powder, cocoa powder, activated charcoal powder, coconut oil, and essential oil in a bowl. Apply the mixture to your face using a makeup brush or sponge. Waterproof makeup is ideal for hot and humid climates or sweating activities like sports or exercise. It typically contains ingredients that repel water, such as silicone, wax, or oil, creating a barrier that prevents makeup from running or smudging.

There are various waterproof makeup products, including mascara, eyeliner, foundation, and lipstick. However, waterproof makeup may not be completely smudge-proof or transfer-proof. To remove waterproof makeup, use a makeup remover specifically designed for waterproof products or an oil-based cleanser. Thorough skin cleansing is essential to prevent clogged pores or breakouts.

  • Great article like always, just a question: when showing the two color samples (coated + uncoated) – have the 2 the same percentage of the different colors (yellow, red, Titanium Dioxide)? Because the two results look different in color: the uncoated look way more rosy / pink than the other! Or is it just my eyes??
