Should every wall in a bedroom be decorated?
To decorate a bedroom wall, consider the room’s size and desired wall art. For a room with the most natural light, use a mirror on the wall with the most natural light. Fill the rest of the walls with framed prints, personal photos, and other wall decor. If the room is smaller, leave one wall empty to avoid overwhelming it. Start with a central piece or smaller artworks and gradually build around it with complementary decor elements like mirrors, shelves, or tapestries.

Amazing that materials were only about $250 (if you have the tools), but the real cost here is definitely the knowledge! Wiring, working with the supports for the wall, and most importantly, the design alone is art… transforming a bedroom completely with essentially just being creative with a couple planks of wood and some painting, amazing!
I loved the simplicity of it all. The makeover made it look elegant and sophisticated. I used to help my husband do these kind of things all the time. After perusal this from someone so young and just starting out, it actually makes this widow feel like I can try too. Thank you for your inspiration!🙏🏼 ☮️
Just watched your bathroom remodel so of course I had to watch this. Design? Construction? Definitely owning your own business. Liam, you can have it all–you’re that good and I want to watch the growth of your website and whatever you choose to do. Fabulous!! New (and excited to see what comes next) subscriber.
Love your accent wall! You mentioned “pocket holes” for hanging floating shelves- I’d love to see how u made those and I’d also love to see a article on running wires! Very impressed! And your sister has great taste too! The bedding really adds a fresh, cozy (yet masculine) touch to the space and ties it all together!
I loved perusal this article! It was super inspirational and gave me some ideas of what to do in my bedroom. The black accent wall really made a big impact in such a small room without making it look too dark. I also think that hanging the curtains higher was a good choice. It makes the room feel bigger. The bedding that your sister did for you looks phenomenal. It really tied the room together and gave it a sense of sophistication.
Hi Liam, I’m so impressed by how much you managed to change in such a small budget. The “after” bedroom looks so crisp and fresh. If I may ask, where did you learn how to do all these things, the carpentry, all the things you did to the drywall and the electrical cables and the ceiling? I want to learn all of them!
Love this makeover! I was iffy at first with the black wall but it turned out amazing! And I’ve been needing some type of solution for my shoe addiction. Your 2×6 floating shelves are perfect! I have like 30 2×6’s my friend gave me that are just waiting for me to do something with them! Thank you! Subscribed!
Honestly, I’m unsure if investing is a wise move right now. Take note of how frequently things fail. As I still have some time before I retire, I’m still looking for a better strategy to invest my money despite reading charts and predictions from well-known investors from the past and present. In order to generate passive income, I want to build a solid and reliable portfolio.
That cool pattern you did with the tape and spray painted? That was so cool. That, the small leather pillow and the floating shelves were the highlight of this makeover. You only need a Ph.D in carpentery and joinery, with industry grade tools to do this….😒😒😒😒 This was really really cool. Subscirbed..;)
Hey great article – what gray did you use? A little more detail would be awesome – specifically what colors you used (I did see “behr black black” ) but the exact color codes for both the gray and black and would be awesome to help finalize some inspiration. Either way great job, thanks for posting, I’m seeing it 2 years later lol
Wow! This guy is skilled, I wouldn’t touch popcorn ceilings because I KNOW that most likely what’s behind it is a nasty surprise, but he knew how to fix that & had the energy to do it, my arms would just fall off! The look is modern, airy & Scandi cool….(got a good chuckle from “I’m hanging my curtains higher than before because that’s what the cool kids are doing”….hanging them higher gives the room the appearance that the ceilings are higher than they really are & I love the jab at the high end designers who always preach that about hanging curtains/drapes….LOL! NICE JOB!
Been perusal your website for over a week now and your work is straight fire! This makeover design is exactly what I’m looking for. I just paid off my house and I’m ready to make bold design transformations inside and outside of my home. I would love to get your insight on project ideas you could give me for my home. Any consultation fees are welcome and would definitely be worth it. Stay blessed and thank you.
those bedside floating tables are genius, my room is probably around the same size as yours if not a smidge smaller and my remodel with everything I have “planned out” is around $1200 and im looking to cut costs wherever. Reason I say “planned out” is because I just made a list of everything I want so far and the vision hasnt left my head yet, so im just going to wing it 😂
Hi Hunn What Did You Use On The Celing? You Said Mudding What Dose It Do? As I Hade Some Sort Of Hooks In My Celing When I Moved In And There Are BIG Holes All Over The Celing Now I Want 2 Cover The All And Make My Celing All Smooth And Level. But Cant Afford A Plasterer At Mo. Great Job Thx 4 The article… x
This was great and I’m definitely gonna copy that panelling idea! That alcove you have your dresser in might benefit from a mirror on top of it, instead of the art work, so it can bounce light from the windows around the room and brighten the alcove itself up a bit. It’d be simple but effective! If you wanted to put a little more effort in to it, you could make it one of those 3 panelled mirrors that shows you at multiple angles, which would spread the light more directly. Then you might even want to add some discreet lighting strips (like the philips hue ones) behind the mirror and dresser for a subtle touch against the back of the alcove. Just some ideas to play with, anyway 🙂
As soon as I seen your hand holding your work near where you nailing, I cringed. The big box stores should be providing a 5 minute mandatory course to DIYers before they leave the store with a nail gun…lol. I’m a builder, and I’ve seen a framing nail blow apart the side a 2×4 and fly across the room. Rule number 1 for anyone reading this DONT HOLD YOUR WORK ANYWHERE NEAR THE DIRECTION YOU ARE NAILING ! I’d even put this ahead of safety glasses.
Liam, I just found your website today (Sept. 29, 2023), and have been binge perusal your articles. Since this was the first article you put out I thought I would make my first comment here. The ONE thing I would change in that bedroom, which would add that symmetry you wanted, would be to make a matching frame for the mirror to match the frame on the other side of the floating shelves. Other wise… You have a new subscriber, one that is very impressed. I haven’t done what you’re doing, but I did lay floors for about 10 years. Your attention to detail is what separates a worker from a CRAFTSMAN. I know. The man I worked for those 10 years was a craftsman. He passed (F*** CANCER) and I miss him almost as much as I miss my father. Keep going like this and you will have a thriving business AND YouTube website. Very well done! EDIT: Sorry.. this was your 2nd article… the bathroom was the first, but I’m still leaving this comment here LOL!
Pray this prayer to be saved from the bottom of your heart plzzz Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I repent of my sins. I will worship you all the days of my life.I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.I receive it and Believe it in Jesus Powerful Name, AMEN‼️‼️❗️❗️❗️.
Beautiful. And you are very talented. I wish I had taken “shop” class in high school rather than “home” economics! 😂 And I worked at a large tool company and wish I had taken one of their classes also!! So, note to younger people, take what interests you, not what is necessarily expected of you as gender (as far as home improvements, etc.) Yes, I am female. Great article!
A W E S O M E ! Don’t mean to be sexist but it’s refreshing to see makeover of a guys room. And again you tell it like it is. Those popcorn ceilings are not finished off very well underneath. Glad you admitted you only did one coat of paint, because after all that other work I’m sure you just wanted to get finished. A very reasonable budget for all you accomplished.
I’ve never understood why so many houses in the US have this awfull finishing (popcorn) on their ceillings. It’s hard to believe this is due meerly to some trend on interior design. I’ve always thought it wasn’t just a finishing, but a choice of cheaper material for the ceilling itself, some sort of plaster plaque.
i don’t interior work at all, just looking for what I can do with furnishing the location, but seeing u doing amazing work like this one making me want to do something for my apartment I will be moving in 1 month later!!!! I hate you, but becasue you inspired me to do it. I will be using so much time to do this project !!!!!!!!!!!
Shout out to the sister, more detail on the bedding as that is just as interesting as the rest of it (next time don’t overlook that linen stuff), it might help attract someone interested in that other side of the bed. perusal your bathrooms and bedrooms tonight and I just subscribed, fixing up my Mum’s deceased estate and you know how long each job takes. This is my down time here on your DIYs – thanks for explaining it all.
