To match your bedroom and bathroom decor, choose a cohesive color scheme, use similar material finishes, unite accessories, match the atmosphere, and align the themes. Master bedrooms and bathrooms that are joined are becoming increasingly popular. Consider the number and size of bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as the position of the bed. A bath in a bedroom is a statement of luxury and can work for many interior designs, especially if you have a large master suite.
Get the best bang for your buck with bathroom additions, walk-in showers, bathtub refinishing, luxury vanities and countertops, flooring, and cabinets. Design a stunning primary bathroom in your home. The bedroom is often overlooked, but having an efficient and well-designed floor plan is crucial for a great bedroom design.
Set the mood by asking yourself how you want your space to look like and let that guide you toward colors. Bathrooms can be positioned anywhere around your home, from small en-suites and under-stair rooms to large family bathrooms or even outdoor facilities. The size of your home is also important.
A master bedroom and bath addition is a popular remodeling project, and there are six tips to help get started in planning your home addition. The simplest way to get both an extra bedroom and extra bath is splitting the front bedroom in half and the bathroom in two, giving the smaller room more space.
To maximize space and find the perfect home, consider family size, future needs, and resale value when choosing the number of bedrooms and bathrooms.
📹 Feng Shui Dos and Don’ts for the Bedroom (Avoid these Taboos!)
Feng Shui Dos and Don’ts for the Bedroom (Avoid these Taboos!) We are back with another episode of Feng Shui basic guides- …
How do you say bedroom with bathroom?
The term “master suite” is a common term in the real estate industry, referring to a primary bedroom with an attached private bathroom. However, it has been criticized for its potentially insensitive connotations. The term has a painful history, with some referring to the slave owners of plantations, while others believe it is outdated and misogynistic, referring to the male master of the house. The term was first thought to be coined by Sears in 1926 as a marketing strategy to sell extravagant listings.
Despite this, several groups still take issue with the term and its connotations. As real estate professionals, the term holds significant weight in promoting fair housing for all. The term’s use can be seen as a reminder of the ongoing racism and barriers to fair housing faced by many Black Americans.
What is the rules of bathroom layout?
The bathroom planning guidelines recommend a clear floor space of at least 30 inches from all fixtures to any opposite bath fixture, wall, or obstacle. A minimum space of 21 inches should be planned in front of the lavatory, toilet, bidet, tub, and shower entry, and 24 inches in front of a shower entry. The minimum distance from the centerline of the lavatory to a sidewall/tall obstacle is at least 20 inches, and the minimum distance between a wall and the edge of a freestanding or wall-hung lavatory is 4 inches.
Is 1 bathroom enough for 50 people?
The text provides a list of toilets and washbasins for different sizes of people, including 1-5, 6-25, 26-50, 51-75, and 76-100. If the workforce is entirely male, it is suggested to provide one toilet and one urinal for each group. For a male workforce, it is suggested to provide two toilets and one urinal for each group. The list is also expanded to include four toilets and three urinals for each group.
How do you call a bedroom with a bathroom?
An ensuite bathroom is a bathroom attached to a bedroom, also known as an en suite, attached, adjoining, or master bathroom. It may limit space and require redistribution of possessions, even if the room is large. Additionally, renovation work is a main disadvantage, as it requires hiring a professional team for building preparation, which can be expensive and time-consuming. Additionally, updating cadastral records may be necessary. Therefore, it is essential to weigh the pros and cons before implementing an ensuite bathroom installation.
What is the rule for bathroom colors?
To create a harmonious bathroom, choose three compatible colours: neutral, rich, and accent. Divide them into a 70:20:10 ratio, with the lightest color covering most walls and the boldest covering about 10%. Neutral and earthly colors allow for more room for color changes, and the saturation of one color can instantly change the mood. For small spaces, use saturated colors on individual pieces like basins or countertops for balance. Darker tones can be used for rustic contrast. Brighter shades make the space uplifting, while lighter shades provide a clean, classic finish.
What does 2br 3ba mean?
In the context of real estate, the designation “BR” signifies a bedroom, whereas “BA” denotes a bathroom. A residence designated as “3BR/2BA” is equipped with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
What is the best ratio of bedrooms to bathrooms?
Realtors suggest an ideal ratio of bedrooms to bathrooms of 2:1, but this is not ideal for four bedrooms. Many master’s bedrooms now have an en-suite master bath, making up half of the expected number of bathrooms. This means the occupants of the three bedrooms share the remaining bathroom, excluding the powder room. This makes the 2:1 ratio less ideal, but works well in cases without a master bathroom.
Is BR bedroom or bathroom?
In the context of residential real estate, the term “apartment” is typically used to describe a unit with three bedrooms, followed by the designation “BR” (bedroom) and “BA” (bathroom).
How many bathrooms should a family of 5 have?
The standard amount of bathrooms in a house is at least two bathrooms for every three bedrooms, with a six-bedroom home typically having at least four bathrooms. However, there are no strict rules on the number of bathrooms, so it’s essential to determine the minimum number required to meet your family’s needs. When choosing the number of bathrooms, consider factors such as family size and whether you plan to have more children. Having at least one bathroom per two family members can help prevent chaos in the morning when everyone is trying to get ready.
Do bathrooms and bedrooms have to match?
The 60-30-10 decorating rule is a guideline for selecting a color scheme for a specific room or home. It suggests that a room’s dominant color should take up approximately 60 of the available space. This rule can be used to connect the master bedroom and bathroom, as it considers factors such as walls, bedspread, bulky furniture, area rug, shower curtains, countertops, and cabinets. The choice of color scheme depends on personal preference and the overall aesthetic appeal of the room.
📹 How to locate your Bed in your bedroom using Fengshui
Ever wondered if there is a logic behind where you should place your bed? Why do interior designers make certain decisions?
Hi, thank you for great content! I’m definetely interested into deep dives for all of the main home areas (bathroom, living room, kitchen, bedroom, hallway etc.) I’m also interested into a deep dive about what it’s good to put in your success direction area (which items, or is it perhaps custom made visual board etc). Thank you for great work & greetings from Slovenia. 🙂
Really love your website! Specially the Fung Shui series. I have changed my bedroom so many times to find the ideal orientation. It would be good to have a guide for really small rooms. The main thing I struggle with is keeping symmetry and underbed storage in such a small bedroom. My bedrooms is 2.5mx3.5m.
When I was selling my previous residence, my realtor applied feng shui to the staging. It was so interesting. I am single, but the likely buyers would be a couple, so my realtor set up the bedroom as a romantic space for two. She put an artsy pic of a couple in a frame on nightstand, and a breakfast tray on the bed with two champagne glasses and a flower and chocolates. A couple did buy my place. The wife loved all the furnishings, but I like to think we sealed the deal for the husband with the master bedroom and garage.
Love the Feng Shui articles!!! Good sleep is so important. And the energy in the room totally affects that. As a photographer, I always paint my bedroom a color that flatters me. Guys are visual, being a woman, I always want my bedroom to flatter me when I’m at my most vulnerable. I never have a TV in my bedroom. Stats show that divorce goes way up when you add a TV. Love these articles! Please keep them coming.
Hey Julie. I was going to put a dress in our hallway with the mirror on it cause it also has a light above the mirror. It does not face the front door but faces the other side of the hallway. Is that good chi? I also have a decorative mirror that looks like a sun burst. The mirror in the middle is about 12″ in diameter. Not sure where to place it. I have a window in dining room & a 4 panel glass sliding door in back of our great room. Meaning living room, dining room & kitchen are all one room. If you need pictures let me know! Thank you in advance for your wonderful help & knowledge! Kris Riley
Thank you for this article… everything made sense to me except when you said not to have pictures of water scenes, but you didn’t say why. Water is very comforting to me and I love the natural lines and serene colors. It seems like the perfect art subject for a bedroom. You mentioned certain things, if they don’t bother you (like mirrors) are ok in the bedroom… this just means that there is some flexibility as long as it is not upsetting (or, perhaps even actually comforting) to the sleeper? Maybe individual influences come into play as well? I grew up around water and even had ancestors that were sailors/Vikings, so I seem to have it in my blood, lol!
Would love a break down room by room, and maybe suggestions for books/audiobooks. I wish I could show you the bedroom layout in the place we’re looking at. It’s not square, and the angled corner is the door. Going clockwise from the door on the top left 1 wall is shares a wall with bathroom (but no door to it, and the sink is on the other side), 1 wall has a window on the left side, 1 wall with a window on the right, and the other is the closet lol… We hope to remodel the building some day, but we can’t afford it in the moment.
Came here from the headboards article, and this has given me so much to think about. My bedroom is in a converted attic space, and the roof angle means the wall on one side is slanted. Could the slanted wall be considered a poison arrow? This room’s shape is very challenging, but the angled wall is one thing I definitely can’t change.
Hi Julie- Thank you for your expertise on bed placement. I need help with designing my new room. The door opens on the right, and the only place the bed fits is in the corner, under the AC/Heather. I want an open breezy experience that is an extension of the outdoors. I have sliding glass doors on one wall, which I want to accentuate. Any suggestions?
I am moving next week and my whole life will be in one room, since I only rent a room and not sure how my much space I have in kitchen, garage, possible pantry. I watched this a few months ago and already reconsidered my current situation. I definitely will use the knowledge I gained through this post. Can’t wait to apply it. I watched a tv show with multi million dollar homes that have not even considered Feng Shui in the design, because the developers didn’t consult with a designer as it appears. I’m grateful for your teachings. Thank you.
I am a new subscriber and i learned so much and hope you started the series for every room 😊. On my bedroom, I am looking forward to making those changes, and Creating a space that I Love…I tend to come and relax in the space at different times but knew things were not yet right. You said, you had more on the bedroom space, I would Welcome those ideas.

Due to the small bedroom in our 100 yr home, the only wall we can put our bed on without doing a lot of changes, is on the same wall that the bedroom door is on. Is there anyway to combat this Julie? Like when front door opens to an open staircase, you recommended hanging crystals. I suppose we could hang an entire wall of drapes to cover wall opposite bedroom door, and put bed there. The way the one tall narrow window is positioned on that wall, half of it would be covered partially by the bed, and would look awkward without a wall of drapes.
Love these articles! What would you recommend if the bedroom is a rectangle with the door right in the middle of the room. I’m in the coffin position! If I move the bed to the left I’m closer to the windows, and the room is no longer symmetrical. Should I place under the windows with curtains? Or just move to the left closer to the windows
Julie, my bedroom (was 2, now 1 room)rectangle is …to the right/north 2 windows on a smaller wall, (where we would want our head), straight ahead from door is exactly where the bed would go between the two windows on the large wall. Also a big no. So I have it to the right of the door, covering one window, on the big wall. Can you come see it lol I wish. Does this sound ok
What is your solution for portal windows? My bedroom is square, on one side there is a huge window facing the street, on the other side is the door to the bathroom which also has a door to the main hallway, and then on the opposing side of the bathroom door is a wall with a portal window. The 4th wall is actually a closet wall so I can’t place anything on that side. Where should I place the bed in this case? Thanks for your help!
Can you do a article on feng shui Do’s and Don’ts for the kitchen. I have a home where the kitchen is at the front of the house, to the right side of the front door. then to the left of the front of the house is my garage. my livingroom is in the back end of my house. I despite this layout but the house is medically accommodating my family.
What would be the ideal position of the aircon fan unit? Most rooms are not that big (3m x 4m). Should the fan unit be better blowing from side (head or feet), or opposite the headboard (direct or off centre from headboard)? Aircon units I see do not have sharp edges, except for the corners; hence if off centre, does the negative effect of ‘poison arrow’ from corner of aircon blower unit supersede the direct wind at feet or head? many thanks…
I had my bed where my feet were pointed at the door and I could see the toilet from my bed – there were 3 doors and 2 windows in the room to work around. One door was to enter the room, one to enter the bathroom and one to the room beyond the bedroom which is a bonus room more or less we use as an upstairs lounge and it also houses the walk in closet. I moved the bed today to the opposite wall which is adjacent to the entry door. I can’t close any doors because my 5 cats will make my life miserable but while I”m not in the command position, at least I”m not in the death position or looking at the toilet anymore!
Hi Julie, I revisited your article as one of our bedrooms has the entry door facing the center of the room so putting the bed in command position will have the feet facing the door. We can’t put the bed on the left wall as it has a window and will block the natural light and the bathroom is behind the right wall. Is there a cure? Thank you so much.
Hi I am Nellie Yu..I am your avid fan …my most problematic in my room is my big widows ..my headboard have no other better placement ..what can I do to beautify ang give me better sleep ..My windows has Venetian blinds ..black out drapes and a colourful flowery bedsheet to hide the windows…no choice for other position..I have been suffering from insomnia ..
I have moved into my apartment. I listened to this article again to learn more. I have a twin bed as I am single and 74 years young. I do not have nightstands, will start to look for round ones. Bed is on the command wall. I can see the bathroom door from the bed. Room is a long rectangular space the entry door is a little over half way up one side of the wall, a patio glass door with triple curtains at the end and to the left of entry. I have a closet that starts just past the entry door on both the entry door wall and the opposite wall with the bathroom on the right wall, I do have a door and keep it shut. I would post pictures but do not know if that is allowed. The closets have doors and drawers are keep shut. I do have a table on the entry door wall that I will try to move. I need to check it for sharp angles and the height is a little higher that my bed and it is across from my bed. Thank you. Hope this helps you to understand my bedroom and my days and nights mixed up.
My bedroom is really small and I can get the bed in a command position and I can get some of the other things. However I have 40 year old dresser that I like and it has a mirror and I have nowhere to store that mirror and so I read somewhere that you could cover up the mirror with fabric but the only place for that dresser is going to be facing the bed so my feet will be pointing directly towards the mirror on that dresser😢😢😢
Hi, I just started perusal your chanel and I instantly fell in love with your articles! I am new to feng shui and I am a student so I dont have seperate bedroom from “office”/work place, and I’ve been searching a lot for ways to improve feng shui in my room but I find it nearly impossible seeing the rules that everyone talks about, so I was wondering if maybe you could make a article about making a bedroom that is also a work place and a closet at the same time into a place that feels better and has a better chi flow.
I love your articles so much. I would love love love a series where you break down ways decorate each room base off of bagua mapping. Like how to decorate your livingroom if you focus on just one of the bagua zones for the entire space. Like how to decorate a blue zone bedroom, then red zone bedroom…etc. I’m interested to know your specific recommendations are for each room as a specific section of the bagua map.
I like the ideas but I rent and the house I live in was built in 1980. I live in California LA county. And the layout sucks. So the master bedroom doesn’t give very many options. I feel the rooms are very small. I looked it up on Zillow and it says the house is a Total interior livable area: is 1,250 sqft for a 4 bedroom and 2 bath, kitchen joins with dining and a small front room
I have an interest in these articles! I reflect the environment especially my mood. I observed this with my Grandson too. Calm environment is good for over excitement. Please do more articles. It’s great therapy and I love creating a space that feels loving and joyful in my home. I don’t have extra cash so I’ll begin with furniture placement and eliminating sharp arrows and cactus plant major declutter is needed
I have known of, and practiced Feng Shui, for years, before I actually knew it was ” Feng Shui “, … pre- 1993. I then discovered Feng Shui, and I try to use its practices, …but, I detest that ” Match-y match- y ” night stand thing, ..I use sane colour and shape,, I just think the matching nightstands are a no, for me . 🙂😊. My bed actually sits up high, and my bed is angled at present, only because that is one of my best sleep directions, and the ONLY available good sleeping direction.
I feel the practice of Feng Shui to be too stressful for me when I’m so limited with what I can do in my tiny bedroom. I live in 100 year-old, 4 square home. 93-1/2″x122″, 9’ floor-ceiling. Door to window is the 93-1/2″ space. only 1 window off-center facing west, door opens in to face window. Heat vent & small closet on south wall, ceiling fan smack in middle of small room. What would you suggest here???
I’m also Buddhist but i had never really heard of Feng Shui until i came across one of your articles about it randomly. At the time i had just moved into a new apartment and after my first night there i was struck with horrible anxiety and fear whenever i was home and especially at night. So after i saw your article i noticed that my entire room setup was the complete and utter ANTITHESIS of what u said we should do in your article 🤣🤦🏻♂️. So i rearranged my entire room and almost immediately the anxiety and fear completely vanished and i felt at peace and relaxed….. so, thank u 🙏🏽🧘🏻♂️
I don’t know how, but I have been literally doing all these things. I wasn’t Chi motivated but the reasons are similar. No soul scaring poltergeist mirrors visible from the bed. No, “Final Destination” murderous ceiling fans near the bed (I use blade-lesson ceiling fans in the center of the room). No hazardous Sharp corners or pointy objects near the bed. Just installed a pocket door to hide away master bath while sleeping because it just kept bothering me (hubby thought so was crazy). No beds on opening door wall because hallways are noisy and distracting, also I can’t see whose coming in and out. Literally, I do everything you listed 🤷🏾♀️.
maybe I missed it but did you explain why its bad to have pictures of water in the bedroom? I don’t have them but in trying to understand this approach, it’s helpful to have explanations for these things. Like wise with the arrow principle; ie, no corners on night stands? I heard you say they can be softened by adding pillows, which of course, I know no one who does not have sufficient pillows on their beds so this principle is equally odd, at least without more explanation. And as for no ceiling fans in the bedroom? I don’t think feng shui and Texas are a good mix. Thanks anyway.
The topic is good and well defined in a book. I have just some justification when designing the layout of spaces such as bedrooms. The article presented is ideally reserved for standard to high-end types of housing design with spacious lot property. However, if you have a small parcel of land and can only afford to build small houses, the layout of a very small bedroom must take into consideration. Putting a drawer for clothing beneath your bed is ok. The only bad thing is that when you put any objects below the bed that represent bad lucks to that person sleeping in that bedroom, or object that may affect your posture during your sleeping period. Originally, Feng Shui is not literally about Qi as in the flow of energy and it is not merely superstitious belief. In the ancient period, people created Feng Shui to study the relationship of human behavior and movement to its environment. In architecture, Feng Shui is in fact the safe anthropometric requirement for better building design formulated by ancient Chinese scholars used up to these present times. For instance: Why your bed should not be located fronting your door? The simple question behind that thing is that your bed is not supposed to be located at the access point of your bedroom. The result is that your bed will be an obstruction whenever there is an emergency like the occurrence of a calamity. Another thing, if that panel of that door is loose unnoticeable, or kicked by someone else to open, where do you think that panel fall in your bedroom?
Your article is amazing thank you. I am just building my new room and the tips are great. What about position to the sun – southern hemisphere, northern hemisphere? I am in South Africa and my 8 bed position all face the rising sun in a northerly direction. Some say that there should be nothing between the bed and the wall in front? Any views on that? Thanks.
I started reading about feng shui at least a decade ago. I replaced the mirrored closet doors with louvers painted the same color as the walls, only semi-gloss (off-white). I installed a light-blocking shade to shut out the ambulance lights that pass. I removed the dresser mirror. I removed a wall-hung bookcase and replaced it with a paper hanging of a pair of Chinese ducks hidden and protected by reeds. There is a little water there, but it a calm protected website. There are a few things I can’t change: the bathroom door must remain open a few inches so our Tonkinese cat can access his water dish in the dressing area and his catbox in the bathroom beyond. It’s not visible because a built-in closet hides it. The only place in our townhouse to store wooden table leaves is under the bed. They are in protective sleeves to keep the dust and cat hair off. They must lie flat or they will warp. The king-size bed has an off-white linen skirt, duvet, pillows and a stuffed ivory fabric headboard, which the cat has done some damage on. The bedside tables are 7-sided columns enclosing quite a lot of storage, and are topped with marble rounds. An antique rocker sits diagonally in the corner; a gentleman’s chair flanks the cedar chest on the side near the hall door. And under the painting of ducks is a prized possession and useful piece of furniture: my grandmother’s cedar blanket chest. It does not have sharp corners, but two of the legs are carved lions; I think of them as being protective.
@Julie Khuu, my bedroom is square in shape. I cannot sleep at the command wall as then my feet face the door. The Only position I can sleep is against the same shared wall as the bathroom. The bathroom would be behind my head. I do have a curved wooden head board. A window and the wardrobe are on the other sides. Can you advise please I appreciate your knowledge TIA
Me again!Sorry I forgot to say the far right corner where my balcony door is;feels like a dead space.I have a small table and chair there in the corner next to stove. Then the fridge w.machine sink then oven.Is there a way to waken up this stagnant feeling corner please?Plants?I do wonder if its the money place?Thank you from Ireland!Love your website 😊❤😊
We are remodeling the home, our masterbedroom will be under the roof and wil be facing a long window and the entrance will be behind the wall where the head of the bed is against. What can we do to usher in all the positive chi? Where can I take a real cours online or anything? Love what you do 🙏🏻 thank you
Thank you for the article. It has given me more to think about. How do you balance a bedroom if the furniture is asymmetrical and has to be that way to save space? It would be nice to have two night stands but not practical for my living situation. I can move things around to make it work. How do you arrange a medium size room that needs to serve three functions, bedroom, working area for the desk and relaxation area with a two-seater sofa. All those pictures in the articles are large spacious rooms for affluent people and they do illustrate your points well. However, for the non-affluent, that is not really an option and much harder to make the space work so one can be happy in it. A article on something like this would be great if you don’t already have one. Think along the lines of shitty accommodations but somehow making it work with a small to medium sized bedroom.
Hi Julie, My master bedroom only has a solid wall that faces the command position and my head is pointing east however the bathroom door is on the side of my bed. The other wall is next to the bedroom main door and it will not be in the command position and I am a Kua 4 so that is my in-auspicious area. The next place would be in front of a window but then my bed would face the bathroom door. I have an autoimmune disease and a disabled veteran so I am trying my best to sleep on the health side and I have run out of options😭😭😭. How do I remedy this and where should I place my bed? Thank you so much for always replying! You are the best! You’re the only one I watch for feng shui tips because you really break it down kindergarten style for us and I love that because sometimes I can’t get the other creators because they are not speaking my brain language haha😂. I appreciate any help you could send my way. Thank you!
Would love a article for small apartment. My downstairs unfortunately hasmy living room and small kitchen in same space. My woodburning stove is smack in the middle. So it feels wrong as I cant” hide” the kitchen and gather around the fire.Limited funds!Any tips anyone? It makes me sad as I love my stove!Thank you!
I recently found your articles here, thanks, I really like them. I remember you saying in one article that the bedside tables should be lower than the mattress, I’m confused as some of these pictures show ones that are higher… it can be confusing. Also with kids’ bedrooms, should you still have 2 bedside tables?? and 2 same lamps?
I have 3 door ways in our main bedroom. Two on the right side of our bed which is the main entry on command position and the other is a small hallway to our bathroom with a door. In between both is a fixed mirror on the wall. The third is an al fresco french doors opening to our outdoor area and pool. Im always conscious of this door as it it placed directly opposite of our bed aka: coffin position. I have no other option to rearrange the bed in the room. I remediated the french door by hanging a crystal ball on the ceiling between our bed and the french door. I also added a light curtain in front of the door so we’re able to block the door in the evening. Since moving to this house and our new bed room, i have always been sick and weak and unfocused with work. I feel totally drained including lack of sleep. I would love to send you a photo of our room so you can see for yourself and hopefully help me and suggest with the best possible feng shui to help remove the negative energies. 🙏🙏🙏
One wall to the right of the bedroom is windows, now I would say put the bed parallel to the windows, avoiding having my feet, or head facing all those windows! I read that it’s important to face North to align with the magnetic North/ South fields of the Earth, can you please talk about this since our body has a magnetic field of course, thanks, your article was very helpful, strong colours can affect people in a negative way, can you talk about colours, thanks
Currently, not all of us have a large home, which is also difficult to maintain and clean in the long run. We have smaller house where everything must be fit for a storage. Just like Japanese, some have bed on the floor. I do hate design using glasses or mirrors in small room to make it bigger. Basically it is not safe. Maybe need fengshui for designing 3 square meter apartments or tiny houses or camper van.
It would be amazing if you could go even deeper into this subject. I’m dealing with a very odd bedroom and we will probably have to stay in this apartment for a couple more years, so I would like to make the best of it. I’m talking very steep sloping ceiling that’s off to the one side of the space, a chimney wall bit and a weird pillar in the middle of nothing 😅
It appears that my bedroom has been causing all of the issues in my life. By bed faces my door, my closet doors are mirrors. Above my bed is a window with an air conditioner mounted in it. At least my bed is off the floor. Lord it’s a wonder I have survived this far. Guess I’ll get to rearranging, but any ideas on what I can do about the closet doors? Can I put a screen in front of them for bedtime? I really like having the full length mirror for getting dressed in the morning and replacing the doors is out of the budget currently. They are on the same wall as the door spanning at least half the length of the room so reflect everything.
Yes Yes please I’d love to see vidoes for each room. Also in the vidoes what to do if you cant change surroundings eg my bedroom walls. Q. My bed is along a floating wall with our wardrobe behind (our room is at the front of the house) and because of the design of the front of the house our bedroom has lots of step like angles on the bed side of my husband. there are posible 2 options to move the bed (though I dont know if they would fit) however with one, we can’t see the door and the 2nd option we would be with our feet facing the door? I dont know what to do here :/
Mahalo Julie – this was insightful and helpful. More Teachings please. You do it so well! I always knew I was sensitive to a lot of stuff regarding objects. No one believed me when I said so. The way you explain chi and why it matters is what “FEELS RIGHT” to me and will be a studier of my items and their positions in my home and apply the do’s best as I can with what I have and will choose to bring into our home for more Calm, Harmony, Peace and Joy. Our home does not exude this right now, but I believe it will. I pray my husband is in alignment to the changes that are necessary for all that Good Chi action!!!🙏🏾😅✊🏾😁
For years my space under my bed is used as a storage place and my marriage is still strong, in due time it is even better. Do not treat Feng Shui as a remedy for your problems. Every continent and a country have their own philosophy and wisdom so use it. One thing is important sleep in a position Noth- South.
ref command position, your doors always open up against the wall. what is the door opened into the room blind., opposite a wall…. does that change command at all? could it make normal cpmmand worse as well as improving bad positons? So, door on left corner of room, handle left, hindges right door opens into the room with wall on the left. bed is behind opening door
About mood behaviour. You said 💯. Lol. I just moved in new property and slept in the living room. I’m still confused. Don’t know where should I fit my bed. Very nice front room and living rooms look nice with chimney. But if I go upstairs there are 3 rooms. One master. 2 small. If I choose to live upstairs. What about downs rooms. My kids are small. Aren’t they gonna fall down from stairs. My kids. 1 daughter 7 years. 2nd daughter 5 and son 3 Kitchen is downstairs but washroom is upstairs. Would u suggest me any setting please I’m feelings confused. Pissed off
Maybe, but there’s more than enough literature from a wide array of metaphysical sources that suggest the head of the bed must always face North on regular compass; NE is also ok. Earth’s electromagnetic field enters from the North Pole and exits from the South Pole, that is its natural flow. You design beautiful rooms for sure, but as a practitioner of Tai Chi, Hsing-I, and Ba Gua, and being a guy, I’m into chi recommendations, not really interior design ideas. Also, the Chinese use way too much red. That keeps you stuck in your root chakra, but, as you said: “All things in Balance/Symmetry”.
Hi Julie, after perusal your wonderful informative article on bedroom. I now got a better understanding of bedroom Feng Shui. May I asked, my bed position now is just beside the window but behind my head is a solid wall. Will it be ok, as I closed my window at night? If it’s not right, is there any cure to it as my bed is built in at the side of the window. Really thanks so much if you could answer my enquiries.
‘The negative energy permiates the bedroom’, You mean stink right? Its stink isnt it.. 😅 Unfortunately my room is multi purpose so I cant do much with layout, also my command possition would put dangling blinds above my head which I cant change. Hopefully when I have a bedroom which I can dedicate to one purpose I can try these tips out.
Best Feng Shui is to live outdoors or close proximity to it. For instance trying to create harmony within a chaotic inner environment? Nature does so effortlessly and without this knowledge there is no Feng Shui. Enjoy life outdoors. Happy thoughts help everyone. I Love bonsai, gardens, nature sounds AND scent. Love the beach aesthetic? Some people truly master themselves. Thanks for so so article, keep learning!
Thanks, this really is very helpful to set up our new fresh total renovation or our home from the 16th hundred in the country side of Germany? This house has some spaces that are strange to situate for example a breakfast dining table, 2 windows and two doors! Will be great about dining rooms, kitchens and Bathrooms room by room, love your style and clarity about the aspects! Great Chanel 💫🙏🏼
Thank you for the guides. I re-arranged my bed and the objects around my bedroom because I noticed there are imbalance and disharmony in the room. For example, my standing fan was balancing on a chair. After re-arranging and decluttering based on your guides, I fell asleep and I finally had a good rest . Thanks again.
Love your vlog. Have a dilemma. In my bedroom I also have my office desk. perusal your articles, I’ve learned that my bedroom Is completely set up the opposite. So I Plan to switch the position by placing my bed looking towards the door. But my question is placing my desk side by side to the door (door on the left). The only thing I am concerned is that I also have the bathroom door on the left wall which will be across from where the desk will be (bathroom door caddy corner close to the entry door. Will this be bad Feng Shui?
HI Julie, My bedroom is 8’2″ x 8’3″ and I do have bed in command position. Wondering about a corner wall that does point toward my bed. There is also a closed off electrical panel and cable panel that has white laminated doors on, so all I see are white doors in that area. Which is not facing directly toward bed. I could place a small plant on a stand in that corner but it couldn’t be larger than 6.5″, as closet is right beside that corner wall, on right side of bed area, and wall only jutts in the specified inches I mentioned. So it’s pretty tight squeeze. But would that help is my question?
Hi, Can you do a Feng Shui bedroom that has a twin bed daybed. I am a single senior citizen and have limited space. Door to bedroom faced hallway. Walkin closet just to the next to door. I have put the bed on the east wall. My nightstand to my left and dresser to my right. Next to windows. On the N/W corner opposite bed is my desk computer with full mirror by the door. Definitely need to declutter too. But want to know placement of twin daybed.
Quick question… I saw in this chapter that mirrors can see in any way the bed. I saw in other of your articles that is ok to have mirrors directly behind nightstands, as they are not facing directly the bed, however, they reflect a corner of the bed, depending how you see it. Could you please confirm if I can place the mirrors (nightstand width) behind the nightstand? Thank you
I just realized I’ve been sleeping in the coffin position for some time. Both parents happened to die in that room sleeping the same way. I have serious immune diseases. Moving the bed tomorrow. Taking down mirrors, clutter and dust. Only thing is I would have to sleep East with the door to the side. Moving the bed farther from the door. NW corner are windows. A bit complicated but I’m going to give it a try. Love these series.
The command positions for my bedroom have my head pointing to the northwest (solid wall) or northeast (under a window). Also, directly at my feet on my side of the bed is an open door to an on-suite bathroom, and pointing right at the toilet, if the bed is in command position #1. Would you recommend moving the bed to command position #2 and dealing with window coverings instead? We have such horrible trouble sleeping. I cannot fathom who created this space.
In my country, there is normal to have separate bathroom (where you take baths) and toiletroom (where is only toilet, and maybe wash-basin, if there is space), so you can use toilet even when someone is taking a bath. Door to toilet room are ALWAYS closed, it is considered poor manners to have them open. There is not such thing as personal bathroom, at least not in traditional houses. If needed, there can be second bathroom, but again, for everyone in home.
