Eliminate clutter, electronics, and wayward socks. Avoid placing your bed directly in line with your bedroom door, especially for the “coffin position”, which means your feet point out of the door. To display art above a bed, center the artwork with the bed’s center and keep it at eye level. Place the frame 8-10 inches above the headboard, tape it with painter’s tape, and adjust the placement based on the size of the headboard. Size the art proportionally to the wall, with larger walls accommodating larger pieces and smaller or narrow walls requiring smaller pieces. A 12-inch print with a 1. 5 to 2-inch mat can look great. Should every wall in a bedroom be decorated?

  • I often see in USA articles that a bed against the window is a norm .. so funny cultural difference, Mother always taught us that you never put a piece of furniture against a window, looks ugly from the outside .. I am tempted to try my bed against window but it is true that we never do that in the UK

  • I can’t get used to seeing a piece of art above a medium high headboard. Mine is a tufted material and I’ve never had a high headboard before. I have a beautiful painting that I bought before starting on the room and the colors are perfect for the color scheme of the paint and furniture. It just looks so out of place, so high on the wall! I’ve always hung pics about eye-level, but I see them done that way on here, above a medium-high headboard. Should I do it anyway? I feel so disappointed.
