Before starting a car or truck interior repainting project, it is essential to remove almost every piece of the interior. Darker colors like black and dark blue can better conceal dirt for off-road conditions or work purposes, while lighter colors reflect sunlight and keep the interior cooler in warmer climates. Many car interiors are black because they match nearly all exterior colors, making it easy and cost-effective for car companies to make black interiors.
Black or brown would look good for seats and carpet, but it must be both seats and carpet and preferably door panels. Tan interiors can unnerve and make you uncomfortable, while tan interiors can be revitalized through painting. Nearly every plastic and vinyl surface in your car’s interior can be revitalized through painting, even fabric seats. Preparing materials properly is crucial.
To transform the look of your truck or SUV, wrap the shiny trim with satin black vinyl. For a dark blue with charcoal trim, go with a navy blue interior with charcoal accents. Black seems to go well with most colors, so you may settle for black/blue interior.
If you have a dark blue 81+ truck with a black interior, you should get either the XL or BAP for any interior other than the navy/orange or go ahead and get the lariat for a brown look. Black is best, as yellow or red stitching is a nice feature but ultimately wears better and is far more functional in the long run.
In summary, before starting a car or truck interior repainting project, it is important to remove any easily removable pieces and consider the color scheme and functionality of the vehicle.
