Can External Graphics For Raptors Be Removed?

The question asks about the difficulty of removing the graphics from a Raptor truck, and whether an average paint and body shop can handle it. The Raptor’s black metallic finish makes it heat up well on a breezy day, making it difficult to remove the graphics. The passenger side graphics were removed in one piece, but the drivers side tore a bit, so the owner would need to restart.

There are many YouTube videos out there that suggest eliminating the small Raptor logo over the rear wheel, but you can still get the Raptor. The first Raptor (Avalanche) never had the graphics, so the owner bought aftermarket ones for a cooler look. The second Raptor (Code Orange) has the 37.

To remove the graphics, sand it off with P80 grit sandpaper or respray the surface with another coating. If peeling straight forward is easier, it is less likely to tear and comes off easier. However, the decal delete is for multicolor decals that would go on the front and back. To remove the adhesive, use wax and grease remover and polishing. For residue, use rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth.

Removing the graphics should be easy, and you can either do it yourself or take it to a detailer. Peel off the graphics and remove any adhesive with alcohol (isopropyl). Heat will make it easier to peel. The key is to ensure the truck’s skin is warm/hot and the graphics are new.

  • ok- unpopular opinion here but I personally prefer all the decals and bumpers and the bed rack. It’s an awesome looking truck even plain and stripped down – but my question is WHY get a Shelby Raptor Baja if you don’t want the Shelby Baja look? Why not just get a normal raptor? or just a basic F150 which is already simplified? If it’s a question of horsepower, the lower base cost of a plain F150 will leave a lot of room for either installing a turbo or a supercharger. These are super rare and picking one up and then stripping it down is near blasphemy to me. I’m all for personalization and glad you’re happy with what you’ve done, which is what it’s all about and the most important thing. if you’re happy with it – it’s all good. That said, it hurt me to watch a little. 😂

  • Hey untamed! Great article! I know this article is older but I just came across it as I might be purchasing a Shelby raptor! Just out of curiosity, if you remember, was removing the chase rack from the truck bed difficult to do? Did you use anything to plug the holes? I’m only wondering because if I remove the rack and put a cover on the bed I was just wondering if the bed would leak now from the holes from the rack. Thanks for your time.

  • Been perusal your website for awhile now and as much as I love the Toyota/Lexus truck family, your Raptor is just gorgeous. Honestly love the removal of the bed rack and decals. Just has a much more pristine and almost “handsome” look to it while also freeing up more space in the bed. People are gonna hate but there’s nothing wrong with doing what you want with your own rig. I hope one day you ease into GX’s and LX’s. Been looking for a GX460 myself which I’m hoping to get next year and my friend just ended up getting a new F-150 which is quite the utilitarian pickup.
