Are The Interior Portions Of Toyotas Painted?

The text provides a detailed guide on how to paint interior parts of a Toyota vehicle. It emphasizes the importance of proper preparation, including cleaning the part thoroughly, using the adhesion promoter, and following all application and coating instructions. The author uses vinyl/carpet spray paint for their interior, which is a permanent dye that will take time to dry. They also mention the need for plastic primer (also known as adhesion) and the fact that they can get it in aerosol form.

The author also mentions that when ordering a part from a manufacturer, they will only provide a raw or primed part that requires minor prep work before painting. For body work, exact paint matching is crucial. The author has compiled a list of paint codes for several years of Toyota’s most popular models and offers a large catalog of OEM Toyota replacement parts.

The author advises against using Krylon Fusion for dyeing the interior, as it won’t come out very good. Instead, they recommend using SEM color coat, which is a flexible dyed coating that can be found at most auto paint stores. They also mention that they have dyed a couple of their vehicles and suggest using a heat gun to apply the paint.

The author also discusses the use of SEM paint on the chrome interior cup holder surround and silver and chrome trim. They mention that they have re-sprayed their blue interior parts several years ago and recommend using SEM paint. The author also mentions using red automotive paint on the steering and gauge surround, but advises using an adhesive promoter and spraying it on first.

  • Really disappointed in my 2024 Camry XSE. Specifically the paint chipping off by tiny road pebbles after less than 1000 miles. I guess I should have invested the extra $1000 for the “paint protection film” ? Really ?? Seriously Toyota? They’re using crap paint at the factory, and hope the customer will buy the film. Totally gangster, pay us more for protection.

  • New 2024 RAV4 I bought already had it installed > First thing I did was take it to a local detailer and have it all removed. I wasn’t installed rolled over the edges, It had a border 1/8 of an inch around the edges of the hood and where ever it was else installed. Paint would fade unevenly with a nice border so you would be married to reinstalling this crap for ever. I keep all my cars long term 10 plus years and hundreds of thousands of miles. List price on sticker was $768.00. If you was PPF there are better products and installers out there.
