Hi Mr Diaz, your article is very helpful,…still I’m wondering to know about total/maximum travel distance within building…is it take into account distance from exit access along the stair within firestair down to GF and from Firestair’s exit door access on GF to exit discharge door on GF (if we pass through a lobby on GF)? Since we have many highrise building that might be longer (in tall) rather than maximum travel distance requirement as per IBC (300 feet?) Thank you
Working on a commercial project space plan layout question came up. Based on B-occupancy load (11 total) and exit access travel distance I’m only required to have one exit. Our code specialist believes we’re still required to have two exits based on 1020.4 Dead Ends exception 2: dead end corridor shall not exceed 50 feet in a sprinklered building. Our corridor is 55’, but since per occupancy load and exit access travel distance we’re only required to have one exit does this code still apply to us. A bit confusing since the code states if building requires more than one exit. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.
