Gotta give props to the artists and animators for that one, they did absolutely amazing work modeling these characters after their voice actors! and it figures that the Genie and Robin Williams would be number 1 because as everyone knows when it comes to Disney characters the Genie as well as Robin himself are legends!
Disney is well-known for copying the faces and gestures of the voice actors onto their characters. Mrs Potts/Angela Landsbury awa most of the other characters from Beauty and the Beast. You have Louis Prima and the baboon chief from Jungle Book right down to copying the conga line he and his band would do on stage. If I recall correctly, I remember seeing a feature on The Wonderful World of Disney, where the animators were frequently given photos of the voice actors. I don’t think I’ll ever forget Robin Williams and the legacy he left behind. Some of my favorite films had him play a huge role like Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society. Mrs Doubtfire was hilarious and Flubber prob played an even bigger part of my childhood. His role as the Genie is obvi my fav though. I hope he knows that in the afterlife.

Another honourable mention is the late Bob Hoskins. He played Mr. Fezziwig & Old Joe the Rag & Bone Man in Disney’s A Christmas Carol. Jim Carrey played Scrooge & 2 of the Christmas Ghosts. All of the characters were made up to look like their voice actors. If you think Scrooge doesn’t even look like Jim Carrey, you may be right in 1 way, but I think an age progression was used to make Scrooge as well.
I often wonder if someone like Robin Williams knew how much he meant to me personally, and then I see I’m not the only one who felt him on a personal level too. He is synonymous to my childhood. I even processed my parents’ divorce through Mrs Doubtfire. I always wish I could have made him feel how loved he was.
From DreamWorks, Guillermo Del Toro’s Trollhunters (it’s an animation an there is also a movie about this serie if you want to check it) series and from there the character, Walter Strickler voiced by Jonathan Hyde. Walter does have two forms, but they both look very much like Jonathan Hyde. 😀 Movements, gestures etc. Although I may be a bit biased, as I am a fan of this actor.
Professor Ratigan of Basil the Great Mouse Detective is the earliest character I saw with this, first seeing the movie when I was 5, and it was originally released the year I was born. Vincent Price was so colourful in his performance, and it’s Ratigan I picture when I hear his name, rather than horror movies. He was my introduction to the concept of the villain getting the best lines, and in Ratigan’s case, the best songs. What a r- er, big mouse!

Sergeant Calhoun – Jane Lynch Out of all the characters on this list, Phil is the best character to resemblance Danny Devito, he has the face, the body, bald head, and bit of every kind of hair, don’t know if the actor agrees but that’s how I see it. When Ed Wynn did his part playing as the Mad Hatter behind the scenes, he looked exactly like the Mad Hatter. And Jane Lynch’s character Sergeant Calhoun mostly looks like her, as much as I want to put Rowan Atkinson’s character Zazu and Robin Williams’ character Genie, they’re just not much similar of their characters compared to Jane Lynch’s character.

Well I heard Pocahontas from the Disney film was modeled after Irene Bedard herself. And Eda Clawthorne really looks like her voice actress Wendie Malick. And Tinella Nosa is really an exaggerated caricature of Dana Terrace herself. And David Xanatos from Gargoyles looks like Jonathan Frakes who voices him. I watched the 2010 Oscar’s in my college dorm building’s community room with two other guys, when they announced the winner for Best Animated Series (in this case, UP) it showed Ed Asner in the audience and I told my companions: “That’s Ed Asner, the actor who voiced Carl Fredericksen.” They responded: “Huh, he even looks like him.” “Oh, I’m sure they would’ve used the actor’s face as a model for the character.”
mid-60s or thereabouts, saw a picture of a Disney animator and one of his creations; was surprised at how much they resembled each other. many years later, saw Dragonheart and was surprised at how much (there’s that phrase again) Draco and Sean Connery looked alike. it eventually — and finally — occurred to me that sometimes characters’ features match those of their “voicers”.

Oscar from Shark Tale is a “top” character? I think there’s a difference between animating a performance to match the comedic energy of the voice performer, as with Robin Williams’ genie, and cheaply designing a character to look like his celebrity voice actor, both of which only serve to drive home the marketing point that the actor was signed for the movie in the first place.
Is this intentionally ironic!? 90% of those are tenuous at best. Zazu, when Scar is in the SAME clip!! Eep, looks NOTHING like Emma Stone. The Genie, seriously? “Here’s some honourable mentions” all of which are incredibly more lookalikey than the 10 in the actual countdown. The only one in the main 10 that is remotely similar, is Danny DeVito.
“They are practically identical” You mean they are both young black women with a small frame? You’ve included Josh Gad and Olaf for their noses and eyebrows, but had to convince the public without such details that you see Anika and Tiana as “identical”. How white can you be? It’s two completely different (both beautiful) faces.
Some “Anastasia”‘s characters looked like their actors:😊 1) Dimitri and Empress Marie resemble John Cusack and Angela Lansbury respectively 2) sure, Rasputin’s apperance was drawn from the historical figure, but I personally can see some of Christopher Lloyd’s features, and Bartok, although he is a bat, has Hank Azaria’s features too
This has nothing to do with the voice actor but the character. Ever since Inside Out came out I was constantly compared to Sadness. People always thought I acted like her and I look like her and at the time I had the same haircut and the same shape of glasses. It wasn’t just Sadness. I was also compared to Tina Belcher from Bob’s Burgers. Especially now cuz I have bangs. And it doesn’t help that I happen to be socially awkward.
While I do see a strong resemblance with the characters and actors as followed, I know the main Hotel Transylvania characters are clearly modelled after their respective voice actors, including Sadie Sandler as Drac’s late wife. Plus I do see some resemblance between the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs characters and actors, minus Andy Samberg.
