Jonathan Taylor Thomas, born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is an American actor and director known for his role as Randy Taylor on the television show Home Improvement. Born in 1981, he moved to Sacramento, California, and later to Los Angeles. His uncle was playwright and actor Jeff Weiss. Thomas began playing Randy Taylor on the show at just 10 years old and became an icon in the 1990s.
In the final episode of the show, Thomas played a grown-up Randy Taylor and helped create a “Home Improvement” reunion with fellow guest star Patricia Richardson. He left the show in the final season to focus on his studies. In 2010, he left the show to study abroad.
Thomas played Randy Taylor for seven seasons and was spotted for the first time in two years earlier this week as he stopped at a convenience store near his Southern California home. He was one of the most in-demand young stars of the 1990s and played the character in the final season.
In 2013, Thomas told PEOPLE that he had been going nonstop since he was 8 years old. He recently appeared in a public sighting near his California home, his first public appearance in two years.
