When Determining The Opening Of Interior Doors?

To measure the size of a door, multiply its width by 2 inches and add 2 inches for height. The rough opening size varies depending on the type of door, with standard sizes being 2″ (51 mm) for width and 2 ½” (64 mm) for height. For an interior door, use a tape measure, pencil, and paper.

To measure door height, measure the inside of the vertical sides. For the rough opening, remove the interior moulding surrounding the old door and pry it away from the door jamb with a wide, flat pry bar. This will reveal the door’s rough opening.
