I’ve never commented on YouTube before but most of these comments bothered me. I don’t agree that this was disrespectful nor do I feel her brother wants to just make a buck. Non of us know what her wishes are, but I would assume, like most people with money, that she planned for what would happen when she passed. She was obviously a collector and the idea that her daughter should keep everything she ever bought is ludicrous. My aunt was so lucky to be able to work with Carrie! She got to go to one of her house party and she described it like this. I would die to be in her house. This makes me so uncomfortable and even a little bit mad. I feel like we’re invading her space and her private life by perusal this and it’s upsetting to see these people rummaging around her house. Everyone calm down. I felt it was kind of too soon at first, but life goes on, and who needs all that stuff? I’m sure whatever Billie wanted was hers to keep. I couldn’t keep everything of my father’s either when he died. No one needs to be reminded EVERY moment about a loss. Even without all of his stuff, I still think of my father every day. Plus, Carrie’s whole life was documented on film basically for the whole family to enjoy forever, that’s so amazing.

I’m probably the only one who feels this way, but I’ve been perusal a lot of Carrie Fisher interviews over the last month. The last one was a Letterman interview on the Late Show and she was joking about her addictions and her bipolar illness. I found it depressing. I’m in no way judging her. She was absolutely brilliant and in her youth a gorgeous woman, but I don’t find her problems funny. It’s very sad. I have mental illness issues, PTSD to be more specific, and I take meds. I think it’s sad that she lost her life and was found to have drugs in her system. I know she fought like hell but I still find it so sad that she’s gone and that she had such a struggle.

We own nothing, when we die all materials will stay until its destroy from time or carelessness. So sad they auctioned off so many wonderful personal belongings of two of America’s most treasured and iconic stars. I know from my own experience how gutted I felt when my sister and I had to put so many of our parents’ things (mostly old furniture and dishes) because neither of us had room for any of it. It would have been so much more meaningful to Debbie’s and Carrie’s fans to leave their homes as is for tours so everyone can feel close to them.
While this is crazy to look at and think about, it does make sense. From what I’ve gathered most of the money from the auction went to charity which I think was great. Both her brother and Billie most likely went through both Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds things to keep quite a bit for themselves but naturally they wouldn’t keep anything. Lucky girl, lucky writer. For a writer, a great one, to have to live like I (in a rented room and/or no room at all) creates problems which you may never overcome. Fisher, on the other hand, always impressed me, in her mature years, as better than she actually was and I think what account for this is having so many creature comforts. An ounce of diligence in tandem with the home help, the solitude, the garden, the rooms and rooms and rooms can as she shows account for quite a bit of productivity.
