What Shade Of White Complements A Cool Taupe Exterior The Best?

Taupe is a rich, cool brown neutral that can be used for exterior paint colors. It can be paired with white trim, black, white, and aqua to create drama and depth. Taupe can also be used with different accent colors to create cozy, elegant, or dramatic schemes. Examples of taupe-clad homes include those with vibrant, pastel, dark, white, black, and ochre hues.

To choose the best taupe paint color for your walls, consider the room, lighting, and color palette. Warm colors pull orange, yellow, or red undertones, while cool colors pull green, blue, or purple. To make a dramatic statement with taupe and black, use creamy white and don’t be afraid to add warmer, more classic wood tones.

Taupe and white is a classic pairing that feels workable with bold prints and patterns. For warm paint, choose one for the walls and a brighter/whiter color for the accents. Taupe of the Morning is finicky about its white paint partners and won’t want an OVERLY WARM white. The warmest color would be Taupe of the Morning.

Tasteful taupe is a rich, cool brown neutral that can be used against peachy beiges and ubiquitous creams. A creamy white to almost beige will look “white” against the contrast of your house color and where you live in the world. However, it is recommended to proceed with caution when choosing taupe paint colors.

  • My bed room faces east and full of Colorado sunshine. I like Benjamin Moore AF-690 because of the green beige gray characteristics. I’m wondering if French Canvas would compliment, be enough contrast, or is it just a lighter version of Metropolitan? I do want a neutral pale green and these two seem to appeal to me the most. Please share your thoughts.

  • New subscriber! Building lake property in Coeur d Alene Idaho. Have used Dover white in the past but leaning Creamy. South facing floor to ceiling windows. All wood floors and beams… walnut tones. Dover leaned brighter so chose creamy for Walls throughout. House exterior is hard. Lots of stone and the dark timber. Looking for a cream for bat n board siding. Most creams wash out in natural lighting. Looking at neutral ground, natural linen??? Want color to stay cream not beige tan or taupe. Any exterior suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you

  • I used Pale Oak in a north facing bathroom and it is beautiful and I love it. I put a huge sample on my bedroom walls that gets West light and it looked very violet. Greiges and greys are heavily influenced by light, and interior elements. It’s best to do just go ahead and purchase a quart of the actual paint (not sample paint-not the same! ) and put a BIG sample on your walls. Only then will you know!
