What’S The Name For The Elbow’S Interior?

The elbow joint is a synovial joint located in the upper limb between the arm and the forearm, connecting the upper arm to the forearm. It is one of the largest joints in the body and is connected to the shoulder joint and wrist, providing the arm with versatility. Two of the most important ligaments in the elbow are the medial collateral ligament and the lateral collateral ligament. The medial collateral ligament is on the inside edge of the elbow, while the lateral collateral ligament is on the outside edge.

The elbow joint is made up of two separate joints, the humero-ulnar joint, which connects the trochlea of the humerus to the radius. The anterior venous system, including the superficial cephalic and basilic veins, communicates through the median cephalic and median basilic veins. The elbow is a hinged joint made up of three major bones: the humerus, ulna, and radius, covered with cartilage.

The cubital fossa, also known as the antecubital fossa, is an area of transition between the anatomical arm and the forearm. It is located in a depression on the anterior surface of the elbow joint. The muscles that perform opposite motions (flexion) are attached to the medial epicondyle, which is on the inside of the elbow.

The elbow includes prominent landmarks such as the olecranon, the cubital fossa (also called the chelidon or elbow pit), and the lateral and medial collateral ligaments. The elbow anatomy includes bones, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves that work together to move and bend the arm. An inside boney bump just above the elbow is called the medial epicondyle. Most of the muscles that bend the fingers and wrist are involved in this process.

What is the inside of your elbow skin called?

Weenus, or weenis, is a slang term for the excess or loose skin at the elbow joint, which is technically referred to as olecranal skin. The term’s origins are unclear, but it is believed to have been coined in the late 20th century and gained widespread circulation by the early 21st century. The term’s etymology is a play on the medical term penis and its slang variant wiener. The “u” spelling may have been influenced by a 1995 episode of Friends, where Chandler Bing had to explain the acronym WENUS, which represents “Weekly Estimated Net Usage Systems”.

The Hangover movie franchise also had fun with weenis, as the “weenis” is a flap of loose skin on the back of the elbow. The term has become a popular trivia question and joke punchline, with the description popularized in The Hangover when Alan, a member of the Wolfpack, exclaimed, “When a monkey nibbles on a weenis, it’s funny in any language”. The word has spawned countless T-shirts, mugs, and posters featuring phrases like, “Your weenis is showing!”.

Where is the crook of your elbow?

The cubital fossa, also referred to as the elbow cavity, is the soft, indented region of the elbow that is typically used for the attachment of purse straps. It serves as an optimal hiding spot and a smooth, delicate kissing location, which is anatomically significant.

What is the medical term for the other side of your elbow?

The forearm muscles cross the elbow and attach to the humerus, with the lateral epicondyle being the outside bump. Most muscles straighten the fingers and wrist and attach to the medial epicondyle, which is common for tendonitis. All nerves traveling down the arm pass across the elbow, with the radial nerve, ulnar nerve, and medial nerve being responsible for signaling muscles to work and relaying sensations like touch, pain, and temperature. Common conditions requiring elbow arthroscopy include tendonitis.

What is a wenis and flagina?

Peter Miniutti of Ashbury shares his favorite anatomical terms, ‘wenis’ (the skin on your elbow) and ‘flagina’ (the webbing between your thumb and forefinger). Tony Moo of North Sydney suggests John de Bres (C8) might be a philosophy lecturer. Colin Bateman of Wollongong, who used to wear long socks with short pants when teaching, never wore them again after a student commented on his appearance, indicating he was not coached.

What is on the inner side of elbows?

The elbow is supported by the medial collateral ligament and lateral collateral ligament, which provide stability by holding the humerus and ulna together. The annular ligament holds the radial head tight against the ulna. The biceps and triceps tendons attach muscle to bone, respectively. The forearm muscles cross the elbow and attach to the humerus. The lateral epicondyle is the outside bump above the elbow, while most muscles that straighten fingers and wrist come together and attach to the medial epicondyle. These tendons are crucial for understanding tendonitis, as they are common locations for tendonitis.

What is the crook of your elbow called?

The cubital fossa is a transition area between the anatomical arm and the forearm, located in a depression on the anterior surface of the elbow joint. Also known as the antecubital fossa, it is triangular with three borders, an inferiorly directed apex, a floor and roof, and is traversed by structures such as the medial border of the brachioradialis muscle and the lateral border of the pronator teres muscle.

What is the inner part of the arm called?

The inner axillary region, also referred to as the armpit, is the innermost portion of the arm situated beneath the joint that connects the shoulder and the arm.

What is my inner elbow?

Golfer’s elbow is a condition where the flexor tendons of the fingers and wrist attach to the upper forearm, allowing for range of motion. This small area can be exposed to pressure, leading to inflammation, tendonitis, and tissue degeneration. Overuse of the inner elbow is often linked to sports, as the finish of a golfer’s swing and the force used to throw a pitch can place significant pressure on the elbow.

However, most cases are not sports-related, as people performing manual labor for their jobs are more commonly affected by golfer’s elbow due to repetitive activities involving the fingers, wrist, and forearm.

What is the inner elbow area called?

The cubital fossa is the anterior side of the upper part between the arm and forearm of humans or other hominid animals. It lies anteriorly to the elbow and is a triangular area with three borders: superior (proximal), medial (ulnar), and lateral (radial). The apex is formed by the meeting point of the lateral and medial boundaries. The superficial boundary (roof) consists of skin, fascia containing the median cubital vein, lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm, and deep fascia reinforced by bicipital aponeurosis. The deep boundary (floor) consists of brachialis and supinator muscles. The cubital fossa contains four main vertical structures: skin, fascia, brachialis, and supinator muscles.

Why does the inside of my elbow hurt?

Medial epicondylitis, also known as golfer’s elbow, baseball elbow, suitcase elbow, or forehand tennis elbow, is a condition characterized by pain from the elbow to the wrist on the inside (medial side) of the elbow. It is caused by damage to the tendons that bend the wrist toward the palm, which are tough cords connecting muscles to bones. Other possible causes include swinging a golf club or pitching a baseball, serving with great force in tennis, or using a spin serve.

  • I have the same problem. Please tell me what to do .. I can’t do anything even if I do pushup I get a crack sound from my bone just after 5/6 reps Done with MRI,x-ray & also with nerves test everything is normal the doctor said that it will take 1 month but the pain is low now from the past months But can’t cure it to 100%

  • I think i have this problem. My elbow is in pain when i do push exercises. I got it when i did a heavy dumbell chest press before. Its been 2 months now and the pain is still there. I use elbow sleeve to minimize the pain. I can still lift heavy but on my first 2 sets in doing chest or shoulder work out. Thats when i really feel the pain but after a few sets the pain becomes tolerable which is why i get to continue lifting even with injury. I hope it goes away completely.

  • I am currently facing similar pains on both of my elbows which I farmly believe started since I switched to a roadbike and kept riding for weeks and doing long miles. I wake up with elbow pains. Recently I have visited a physiotherapist and He has been providing me ultrasounds on both elbows for last 3 sessions within 1 week. I have paused cycling. My question is, will I fully recover from this pain and can I go back to my cycling on roadbikes?

  • Im in my 50′ s, a Firefighter, renovating my house, biker and i work out . All the above have my this pain 4 years ago. I tried the wrap and stretches as mentioned above but no relief. Then only last week a paramedic showed me a stretch. It involves someone pressing on the tight ligaments in the forearm then doing the stretch with fingers bent back . To my surprise this has already made a reduction in pain to the point where i was able to perform bicep barbell curls this week with no pain . Just thought id share this . You have to get those ligaments ti stretch so they back off the pressure at the attachment point at your elbow .

  • This is the first time ever I felt inner elbow pain for doing forearms pull up. my elbow was in a bend position for the pull up. It felt so much pressure and intense in the elbow. I always massaged when the intensity get tight. I don’t know what to do at this stage. I’m just stay off every workout. hopefully it’ll recover.

  • I bench 405 lbs for years just lately I think I had golfers elbow but with some therapy treatment it went away . Specifics triceps exercise can cause that for many who are complaining of getting this pain from working out . My cure was to take 30 days off and lots of therapy . Defiantly a good article to help you diagnose your self . 👍thanks

  • I’ve been doing a lot of manual labor on our recently converted barn-to-house. Heaving lifting of drywall and buckets and plywood. It’s gotten worse when I was unloading a gun safe from my truck. Thanks for this article. I’m trying to stay less active but work has to be done. I’ll start the icing and see if that helps. Thanks.

  • Well shit I still don’t know what’s wrong with me then lol. I workout and just assumed that everyone deals with the elbow pain. But the pain isn’t on either side that is pointed out in this article, rather it’s actually where he points to at 1:49 as the “funny bone nerve”. It gets really irritated when my elbow is fully bent. So common examples would be when waking up after sleeping on arms and hand is folded up to face, or when laying on back and phone in front of face, the weight of phone puts that tension on elbow. I imagine just having what this guy has or pain on the other side run into the same pain in those same positions. I guess I’m just wondering why mine is the funny bone nerve lol. Probably something worse is wrong, ah well.

  • If its arm soft tissue injury where as pain is left in the joints like Elbow and shoulder when pressure is applied. Will your peak strength ever return? If so, how long after it heals would your strength where you left off at return. Especially for a weight lifter. Or do you loose all that strength progress

  • Wtf that’s bullcrap… I was good last year able to arm wrestle anyone anywhere (which I’ve always been particularly good at) now doing push-ups pull ups and especially arm wrestling and heavy lifting I ache and am sore excessively where as I coukd do anything I wanted a year ago but I’m 35 now is this me getting old or wtf is happening I had to take a loss on my left arm against someone 20lbs lighter than me just from pain alone. Any help is greatly appreciated

  • Im having the exact thing and people in comments talking its been with em for years…, It scares tf out of me. I armwresteled with my bigger bro and after i felt that pain in my inner elbow. I stop trainings for my forearms. After 2 weeks the pain was gone but every time i was trying to open a SLIDE PUSHING window. Or when driving in car. Or any movement that was like sliding. When i remember when i first have that pain. Waving somebody was painful. Or moving my hand slidly. And yeah, after i though the pain was gone. I just started working out. And it comes back asap. I went to doctor. He said your tendons hurt you need to take care of it for 10-20 days. I said i did it doctor. The pain was gone. But when ever i wanted to slide anything the pain comes back… . I just dont want to have thing kind of pain guys. Wish me well❤.

  • I had pain and a fluid lump appear on my elbow. I was sent to the hospital for a CT scan and it came back as Bursitis. It has taken 2 months for the fluid to disperse but now i have the same pain in the elbow that the man has in the article. The symptoms are exactly the same, as soon as i touch that epymedial i have a sharp pain. Do you think this was the cause of the bursitis? I wear an elbow sleeve and use a warm pad. This is soothing for the short term

  • Ah yes. Heavy lifting. At my job there are some guys who are supposed to do laundry services, like heavy lifting of hundreds of pounds of towels and sheets, also moving mattresses and fridges, but they slack off so hard that for six months I’ve had to do their jobs for me, which I’m definitely not strong enough to do but I’ve had no choice. I’m on vacation right now and the pain is worse than ever. It’s good to know the cause and how to go about it, and especially to know not to ice my funny bone anymore, haha.. thank you

  • I just dont know. I am in an intense review for my bar and we have to do the exam thru laptops. I shared a good news to someone regarding the situation of my dog as i am so busy but he is in good hands. and then The next day i have the intense pain. It has been two days and my exam is in a month. I had massage but ir didnt alleviate the pain. It seems someone madw a hex on me. This is evl eye

  • Is it normal to experience elbow crepitus with golfers elbow? I have typical golfers elbow pain which I can’t really get rid of (got worse when I rested from the gym), but any pulling or pushing movement causes crepitus in that elbow. Like a clicking/slipping/crunching noise. Could this be from the tendon issues? Nobody can tell me anything. I had an xray and was told it looked pretty normal.

  • Finally I figured out what I have in my inner left elbow!! I am a drummer, and I play traditional grip. During an outside gig a few weeks ago I felt a sharp pain on the inside of my elbow during the last 20 minutes of our show, and got worried. I also keep active, but Im still unable to do bicep curls with the normal weight use let alone carry my gear with my left arm. What kind of brace would you recomend? Thanks

  • I have pain in this exact area – very close to my “funny bone” nerve. Been hurting for 8 months or so but I do play golf and like to arm wrestle on occasion. Took some time off of both but came back quickly after starting back. Now wearing a strap support when active and has helped. Tendon’s unfortunately take forever to heal fully. I have just decided to live with some pain and remain active – Age – 59. Thanks for the article..

  • My elbow popped and my hand was swollen for a day after lifting a really heavy box. I’m not sure if it’s a golfers elbow or tennis elbow but it hurts when I twist my wrist inwards like if I was checking my watch or if I try to do dumbbell hammer curls even with low weight it hurts. It feels more like discomfort then actual pain but it feels like it’ll lead to pain if I try to fight through it (if that makes sense).

  • I have the exact same thing the only problem is I have it already for 3 years I had enough of it I can’t do triceps I can’t do biceps I can’t to push ups I can’t train scholders how can I repair this I’m only 18 I don’t want to live with this thing forever I also have an tendon jumped from my middle finger left arm but that dosent bother me while this when I trayn or when it’s cold it hurts like heck

  • Thanks for the article!! I’m 27, fairly athletic, workout often. I do a lot of push ups and pull ups. I’ve had this pain on my right elbow for a few years. When I bend my forearm back and forth that tendon feels like it slides over the bone or bumps into it, unlike my left arm that is normal and does not. Push ups become extremely painful for me no matter the form I use. And I have to stop my workout. Even extremely proper push ups or using a towel underneath my hands does not help. Even a couple week break doesn’t change anything. Any articles I should watch or recommendations on what to do? (Apologies for the lengthy reply)

  • I got golfers elbow from the workouts I would do consisting of pull ups, push ups, dips and many other exercises. I have pain in the same way this guy in the article is experiencing it. How long should I wait before doing strengthening/stretching exercises for it? Also when can I return to working out?

  • Inner elbow pain is no joke – especially with an active, weight-training community. I’m curious – how did you hurt your elbow? Did these exercises help? What else do you need me to cover in future articles? Don’t forget – shoulder and rotator cuff stabilization exercises are crucial with this – don’t forget these exercises as well: youtu.be/3OtA0cwuUDE Hope you feel better soon. 🙏🏼

  • Amazing – I had elbow discomfort for about 2 months before having the doctor look at it. He suggested physical therapy. None of the establishments near me took my insurance so I decided to research myself and came across your article. After 1 day of using these exercises, the discomfort has greatly subsided. Thank you – recommended 100%!

  • My inner elbow pain is less than a week old – just four days, to be precise, once I started attending tennis classes. I am a right hander and my pain is inside of the right elbow. Right now I have calf muscle pain and inner elbow pain. I tried your calf muscle stretches and they worked like a beauty! My pain got alleviated immediately. Hope this too works! Thanks!

  • thank you for your service Doc Jared. you have no idea how this has helped me…. I had this pain after I went cleaning at my father’s grave a couple of weeks ago. Haven’t had time to go see a doctor because of work and personal commitments. Glad i found ur website. More power and all the best from the Philippines! 🇵🇭🇵🇭

  • Thank you of the suggestions. Will try them out as I have this issue unfortunately for quite a while now….. Amazing content from what I see till now. Much Appreciated. In return as Sound is more up my alley, i See you are wearing a mic, however it sounds like I am listening to the camera microphone? . There is incredibly much reverberation resulting in you sounding miles away. Either find a drier sounding room when recording article+sound Or check if you are recording the Mic you are wearing or a mixture of the camera mic+the one you are wearing. Peace!

  • Thanks! I’ll this and the shoulder exercises. I experience this elbow pain on my left arm when doing chin ups. Not sure if not being able to fully do a close fist on my left arm helps cause this or not. Pinkie finger doesn’t close fully, it did not fully heal when i got 5th metacarpal injury due to a bike crash.

  • Hi Jared, since I know that you read the comments I want you to also to read this one. I have been having this issue about 5+ years. I thought always it was because of the gym and the chin-ups. But since covid hit I did not train in the gym and the problem never went away. I have this on both elbows! So stubborn I cannot believe it. I promised myself after perusal this article that I am going to do the exercises your recommend + rotator cuff every day slowly or every other day, no need to overdo it. I give myself six weeks to feel some kind of relief. Other problem is that I will start gym again next week, but I am not in a hurry to go crazy because of my disc herniation that was 2 years ago. I would also point out that I think, but I am not sure that keeping the hand under the head while side sleeping is also causing irritation so now I try not to keep my hand in this position. Thank you for all that you do for us.

  • Hi Dr Jared – My pain is mostly on the inside elbow but it’s behind my elbow joint such that when i do the cross friction massage i don’t feel much pain in front of my inside elbow joint but behind it, it hurts a lot. Will these exercises and cross friction massage help or is that more of a triceps tendonitis? Please let me know.

  • I have pain in the inner elbow you pointed at but mine seems to radiate above the elbow to the back of the lower Tricep; so, I don’t believe that is Golfers elbow since there is no forearm pain. Hurt it lifting too much weight either on a Triceps pushdown or on a Bicep curl. Going on 8 weeks now. Pain would be if I was trying to open a jar with that arm.

  • Hi, before I get stuck into these exercises, I’d appreciate if this is likely to help. I have had this pain for 6 months, I think from a swimming hand paddle drill. The area is painful, swollen and weak ie hard now to hold onto anything heavy. Will these exercise help or does this injury need a different intervention?

  • Hi Jared, I am a 52 y.o physically active mom & recently have experienced some hip bursitis on my left and right calf pains. I have been stretching & strengthening those problem areas to your articles for about a week now and I got so much relief, amazing. Now I am experiencing some inner elbow pain on my left (I am right handed so my left is my weak one), I know this article will help me getting rid of the pain! You are by far offer the most effective pain relief exercises out there. I also like the fact that you dive into the whys & whats (science) behind the pains, the explanations really help to prevent me from getting reinjured! Thank you for all you do! LuSieng

  • Hey there! I’m really enjoying your articles and find them so helpful. Can you help me out with driving posture?? I get all sorts of cramps/ knots in my neck, arms, shoulders, legs, hips, etc… I try to alternate positions, and keep my back up, but I’m starting to develop anxiety over getting in the van because I’ll feel terrible afterwards. You can’t avoid those horrible traffic build ups on the interstate that keep you in the car for even longer…! Tips? Stretches? Maybe pillows to help? Thanks in advance!

  • Saved! I used to get elbow pain years ago when I worked in a warehouse. I’ve recently started rock climbing and had the pain return, yesterday, during a climbing session, being the worst I’ve ever felt it. I will start to do these stretches and exercises regularly from today. How long should I expect it to take for them to take effect and for me to be feeling less pain/aching in my elbow when active?

  • It just feels weird, no pain at the bundle of tendons i was placing my hands down to go on all fours to stretch my back this morning and pushing on my hands my inner ebow felt weird? No youtube article is helping and im tired of perusal 30 minute articles. This is only my right elbow, my left shoulder is hurt yet this does not happen for my left and my shoulder is not hurt. WHAT. DO. I. DO?

  • I literally get this after the driving range or a round of golf… it’s literally every time I play. I’ve gone thru therapy and it did go away but it’s back again! I KT tape my arm along with wearing an elbow brace before I play. I also use a theraband flex bar. Is there anything else you can recommend or are these exercises you have explained in this article good enough,?

  • I have a bit of a strange query. When I do the first ROM exercise, with my right arm (The arm with more severe symptoms of golf elbow). I can only get my hand up to about 45 degrees. However, when I do it with my left arm (Arm with more mild golf elbow symptoms), I can get my hand up to about 90 degrees from the horizontal, so there’s more ROM in my left arm compared to my right arm, with my right arm being more painful. Would you know why this is the case.

  • I got a question. That tendon that you’re talking about in the elbow could it cause pain in wests fingers hands and shoulders? Also, I watched your article on how to sleep when you have an injured shoulder, just in case you don’t see my comment there I’ll question here too. What if you have pain in both shoulders? Also also, how do you heal a torn muscle in your arm?

  • One day my friend a i went arm wrestling for like 100 times with no rest and after that even if i did win every match, i started feeling a pain in my inner elbow when i extend my arm it was just temporary for just 2 days andd then the pain was gone…Almost 1 year had passed and now even if i go arm wrestling once the pain comes again for 1 day and it goes It means the injury is not cured Pls help someone

  • I nearly didn’t click on this because of the name of the website. It sounds like a website by an Instagram influencer. Whereas it’s actually great, scientific information that has helped my slight soreness I’ve had today. Why did you choose this name for your website when your information is so much more than this?

  • I got burning sensation like pain in inner elbow by doing pull ups, stopped with exercise for about 6 months, pain gradualy disapeared. I tried again with being more caution, but after few days pain came back in all its glory. I really like push ups, they are huge in my casual exercise rutine but with this problem i don’t believe i can continue, which is bummer.

  • I had golfer’s elbow before and was treated for it but now the pain is on the other side of the bone, so more in the upper arm next to the triceps. Is that still golfer’s elbow? The pain is still induced by the same motions that triggered the pain on the other side of the bone, which is now stronger and pain free.

  • Will definitely be trying the exercises from this article with my son. My 14 year old son plays baseball year round at a highly competitive level. He began experiencing inner elbow pain at the beginning of this fall season (September). After a few orthopedic appointments, he was finally sent for an MRI. the report read “tiny tear partial chronic tear of the UCL” “minimal stress reaction in the medial Epicondyle” ” mild prominence and t-2 hypersensitivity of the ulnar nerve – correlates clinically for ulnar neuritis “. Orthopedic said to sit out fall season and go to PT 2x week – and strengthening the arm and shoulder is the key to fixing the elbow. Struggling to find a local PT that is a good fit for my son so have been turning to our own online research that led me to your YouTube website. Do you do tele-health or article virtual appointments in addition to your website? Not sure if this is even a thing for PT, just throwing it out there. The goal is to find someone to work with my son between now and the the spring season to strengthen and rehabilitate the elbow and arm. Your approach and style in your articles is fantastic. My apologies for the lengthy message. Thank you, Ed Long Island, NY

  • I started an arm wrestle workout regime my left arm the weak one was hurting so bad right at the elbow also had like a lil bulge and by instinct I massaged it fairly aggressive i did some stretching applied some pain cream those that smell like menthol and feel like it burns I’m glad I watched this article assuring that i was doing the right thing to heal my arm in 3 days the pain was completely gone. Great article

  • I have been doing the exercises for knee pain relief for the past week and it has really helped. Thank you so much. Just yesterday I was thinking of requesting a article for elbow pain relief, and bingo! Thank you so much. With computer use, I have pain in right hand, in between index and middle finger, wrist and elbow.

  • I’d just like to add don’t wait before you treat this. Depending on how severe it is, it isn’t going to go away necessarily at all, until you do therapy on it. I got mine doing chin ups and it got pretty severe. I just stopped working out altogether, lost track of time, didn’t go back to it until a year later and guess what popped right back up, this time with lots of scar tissue built up (as I understand it). It’s now been about 3 years and I still feel it off and on, and I’m still scared to push it on pulldowns (I don’t even do chin ups anymore). I may even just feel it scratching my chin or brushing my teeth, then not at all again. It is by far the most annoying injury I’ve ever had. Edit: I just started doing your rotator cuff exercises last week after learning this could be a shoulder issue, and I happen to have shoulder issues as well. Thanks for the articles.

  • Hi there, I’m on my husband’s account but I was in a car accident a few years ago. I have ruptured disc’s from it in my neck and back. Recently I had flare up where I thought I was having a hesrt attack. Turns out it was my nervous system from my accident. I have the pain in the right shoulder arm rib area. I get dizzy, I get nauseous, I have the shakes, sweats but freezing, anxiety, black outs, throwing up, etc. It’s my right side of my neck and upper back right side mainly that’s in pain everyday. My low back has issues but my upper is what’s really bothering me. I was seeing a chiro but had to stop because it wasn’t covered. Looking for advice. Thank you, please I hope you see this!
