The Kia Stinger is a car with two fuse boxes and various fuse types, including Micro2 (APT – ATR) and Micro3 (ATL). A blown fuse can cause issues with lights, power windows, or other electrical components. To check and replace fuses in your 2020 Kia Stinger, follow these steps:
- Find the fuse/relay panel covers on the driver’s side. Inside the covers, you can find the fuse/relay label describing fuse/relay name and capacity.
- Check for blown fuses in the interior fuse box of your 2020 Kia Stinger and locate the fuse panel diagram.
- Use the original 10 amp fuse from the interior lamp slot to maintain the interior.
- Replace the controller for your dash camera hardwire kit with the correct fuse taps.
- Use the InstallPRO Mini Fuse Tap for easy power access for Constant 12v and ACC for low power devices. This is great for dash cams and small 12v devices.
- Upgrade the look of your Kia Stinger’s engine bay with Burger Tuning’s Vanity/Tuner/Fuse Covers. These lightweight aluminum covers are anodized black for a sleek appearance.
- Use piggyback fuse taps to access power from the driver side fuse box.
In summary, the Kia Stinger 2022 has two fuse boxes and various fuse types, with the ability to check and replace fuses. Understanding the fuse ratings, locations, functions, and warnings is crucial for maintaining safety and functionality in your vehicle.

I also went through that same process earlier this year. Had to buy everything separate and figure it out. So yeah, I too recommend buying the K8 stinger store set instead so that it comes with the rgb controller and avoid the hassle with the connectors. But thanks for the article, glad someone put an end to the struggle lol
Hey again, im getting ready to do this to mines this weekend and i am wondering about the LED kit you used for the light beam. I have one thats very similar to the one you showed and i was wondering if you cut the wire from the base it comes with that has the lighter outlet. Then did you posi tap it into the current lights in the stinger?
@DARKRISE how did you keep the Amazon lights in position so it can illuminate through the dash? Not sure how much of a hassle it will be but can you do a short article on how you got those lights tucked in and what wires you taped into since you didnt show it in the article. My main issue is keeping the clear fiber optic wire in position because when I put mines back together it wasnt illuminating
Dude I just watched, you seem exceptional in that area, maybe others tho too, idk. But not something I usually don’t subscribe to but, I did. I think I can learn a thing or two from you, I’m thinking specifically auto electric, and when I saw what brand tools you use, I figured you’re the real deal. Thanks
awesome me and my stepdad are going to install my new double din radio in my mustang and one of the things he told me to do is to run a fuse holder on the yellow 12v constant he told me its not required to run it like this but he said its best to run it stright to the battery with a small 30A fuse for safety if anything,
So one very important point JP missed on the Fuse Tap option. You need to test the fuse slot itself to find where the power is coming in on ( call it + and -). You need to have the fuse tap tail on the minus (-) side as you want the current to come into the hot (+) side and go across your fuses over to the minus (-) side and to the accessories. Otherwise the current will just bypass the newly added fuse. This won’t have any effect on the original fuse, but will bypass the protection for the new accessory to be fused.
I hope this article does not represent the quality of work you do! For one the strippers are garbage, You cut through too many individual strands of wire! Secondly when using any type of connector never fold your wire over to fit the wrong size connector, Always use the correct gauge connector for your wire! I know this article may just be a demo but there are a lot of people who do not know any better and will see this and think that it is OK to do work like this! Also attaching two spade connectors to a fuse is definitely not OK to use in any situation! By showing this type of sloppy and incorrect wiring practices one can assume that you definitely were not trained or taught in any type of electrical wiring! This is some really poor information to be telling people to do! Try getting away with this type of garbage in the Marine industry and see what an Insurance Company has to say when this garbage fails! You may not like what I have to say but you can’t argue with facts!
Great article… but I got confused because you refer to the top/bottom in reverse.. bottom is closest to the tabs and the top is furthest from the tabs, **VERY IMPORTANT** The wired double fuse tap is directional, the non-wired side is the IN(for the hot side of the fuse block) and the wired side is the OUT(for the cold side of the fuse block} other than that great info… love the DIY fuse block !
Wow. This is short and sweet and right to the point. Wish I found something like this 5 years ago when setting up a subwoofer, but with a stock radio using a fuse tap for switched power. Hours and hours of research (always had aftermarket head units with a remote wire with previous vehicles). I wanted to keep a somewhat stock look for the dash. Did it just like you recommended in the end. Edit: Wanted to add tapping into an accessory you don’t actually have would be the best the way cars are made now. Heated seated if you don’t have heated seats, in my case power sliding doors, sunroof, etc if you have a lower trim model. Check there is the power required “switched or always hot” for the needed accessory and don’t go over the amperage that circuit was designed for.
Thanks for the article. Great job explaining, but I have a couple of questions. One, if I am going to use a larger gauge wire(at least a 12 gauge do to length of wire run) than what is on the tap a circuit, should it be or can it be rewired with the larger wire? Also I am tapping a 20amp fuse location and will add a 20amp fuse, will this work? Thanks.
That works as long as you are not pulling over 20 amps from the total tie-in point. Another way to do this is to come straight off the battery with with a small new fuse box that you can run all your accessories off of and make it a switch to power source with a relay. That would be the safest way to do it without tapping into anything and having to worry about overloading the circuit
Always…always, read the manual of the accessory you are installing before you actually install. For example I recently purchased a Dashcam that has a “Parking Monitor” function. For that to work it actually has two taps, one to an accessory like the PWR Outlet that only has voltage when key is on and a second tap that has constant power. When properly powered normal Dashcam operation when vehicle is on but powers off a few seconds after the key is turned off. If the “G Sensor” detects a disturbance, with the key off the Dashcam will begin recording. The hardwire kit also has a low voltage detection so if your battery voltage drops below 12VDC it will disable this function to keep the Dashcam from draining your battery below a threshold that should still be sufficient to start the vehicle. To find the constant power simply use your multimeter and measure the voltage on the fuse with the key off.
I am just baffled and mega dumbfounded on why on the various F150 and other years/models, Ford decided to not provide a 12v ACC when replacing the head unit. I understand they have their own proprietary interfaces designed by them but I still think it’s totally dumb. I knew of the single taps for years but never knew they had the double taps. I haven’t done a head unit replacement in over 10 years – in the past, I could do them with my eyes closed, and did quite a bit of them for friends, but thank you for this article and auto zone has the doubles in stock right now. Getting my booty over there now to be done with this. Haven’t had a radio in my truck for the past 3 years, sick of the silence lololololol.
Theres nothing wrong with doing it with the single prong setup (the first way you show) and theres no need for an inline fuse if installed correctly as ot will be protexlcted by the fuse your tapping into. Take the fuse out and identify which side is the power and which side is the device. The power side will show 12v while the device side shows 0. The fuse is what sends power to the other side and protects it. You need to tap into the device side of the fuse.
This was great but I have a question. I have a tap and I will hardwire the under dash lights, but the tap doesn’t have a hot and neutral wire (load and draw). How the heck do you hook that up with only one connection on the tap end?? I get that you would crimp the positive wire to the tap, but what do you do with the negative wire? How do you complete the circuit?
So let me ask… is there a way to wire a LED Hood strip & LED Rock lights together…..BUT wire them to work on a 12V power cigarette/supply. That I can manually plug in when I want to run them and unplug when I don’t? Now the power may vary I assume, where as the LED Strip pull MAYBE 5 amps/volts and LED Rocks run 12V. So is there a way to combine both into a plug in type power source that runs both???
Don’t each wire tap have a certain amp rating? Usually 2-10Amps. If I tap into a 10 Amp fuse and the accessory is 5 amps totally to 15, is that still safe even though the tap is rated for 10 amps? I’m also asking because you used a LP mini fuse which are typically rated for 10 amps then used a 20 and 7.5. Is there an risks to that or am I understand the product incorrectly
I learned a lot of stuff from you been out the game for a while and needed good brush up course so thanks 🙏 homie. They didn’t have DSP and all that when I was doing installs lol. So in my 04 Mercedes e320. It took me 3 months to upgrade and hook it all up but I got rid of the MOST fiber optic B’s. It was a good system but dated. So I got nice xtrons head unit with DSP in it I upgraded all the door speakers and installed to kicker amps mono for subs and 4 website for door speakers. So do I need another DSP for the two kicker amps one is cx800.1. Sub mono amp. The other kicker dx 4 website amp for the doors. Do I need another DSP for the amps what is the one in head unit idk anything about DSP. But I spent good money and got good stuff jl components in doors and jl 12 s in jl box w0. Please help
Quick question, I have wired a cooling fan to a switch, but am scared to forget to turn it off when I leave. Thats why I’m trying to find an ignition source that would turn off if I leave the car with my keys, so forgetting to turn off the cooling fan wouldn’t drain my battery. But could that cause an amperage drop, having any consequences like bad fan perfomance or even causing a fire hazard? Thanks!
I was going to power off of the cigarette lighter than I realized I want my boyfriend to go off with the key. I’m going to do a hot wire on my blower fan on my Chevy 05 Yukon and I used 10 amp stranded wire that is really thick. I had to use a 30 amp fuse because the 20 amp blew out immediately. I ran the wire through the firewall from the Redbox right by the alternator and I ran into a brand new toggle. Then I ran the wire to the blower fan. I hooked up to either wire at the blower fan cuz I don’t think it matters and then I ran the other wire and grounded it. But then I realized I actually could have run my power wire to the side fuse box that is right next to my left knee. I just need to hook up to a new relay. I guess I’m going to have to do some more reading on his next article thank you
Great vid very good explanation. I was getting ready to wire a small vacuum box to one of my fuses and it uses a cigarette lighter adapter. I was going to cut off the cigarette ligther and connect the positive to a fuse using the adapter you showed. I was wondering if a negative is required wire is also required to be ran when doing this?
If I were to tap into a fuse, but the fuse is already being used for a function on the car, will that function still work along with powering my accessory? Say I tap into fuse 12 that controls “right front seat heating,” will the right front seat heater still work + will my accessory still get power?
I brought new headlamps that came with these fuse taps. I didn’t connect them and everything is working in perfect order but i can’t help but think is it needed for them to be plugged in? would love some advise as i am new to LEDs and don’t want anything going wrong as the headlamps were not cheap 😉👍
I have a new radiator for my jeep that has electric fans. It comes with the wire harness with a fuse already but I need to tap into ignition power and want to do it thru the fuse box. If I use an existing fuse and fuse tap do I need to use another fuse and if so should it be the same size as the one that comes with the harness or smaller? Also do they make a fuse tap that I can use in an empty spot without adding a fuse to it?
Okay bro need your help so I got a little small Mercedes emblem small one lights up so I thought safest way would be tap into fuse so I got fuse holder like the one in article. I was going to tap to cig lighter the thing is then it will be on all the time that car is on shorten life span. I thought the fog lights would be better or headlights that way when I turn on lights it would go on. So is their fog light fuse or do I have to t tap the wire which would defeat the purpose of doing all this safe
JP~ You are Just in Time and Right on time with another KO on the technical explanation as I’m doing a hard wire of an accessory that came with cigarette lighter plug in, that would have looked downright stupid . You came through like a boss. Here are two more acronyms that have found their way into my life. This one my girl put a quick halt to my depending on her. “I said, baby how did you connect that???”She said, ” RTFM it” I said,, “say what… What is that ???” She replied, ‘ Read The Fucking Manual!!!” (But it helps to see it and hear too.) This one to me holds the most honor and respect. It is for those that have worked hard to achieve and make extraordinary examples of having heart, intelligence and soul. Some would say King, Chief, Captain, but I’m from the Bay Area where we say, “That’s the HNIC~ That means your the Boss, King of the Jungle or AKA… The Head N…..in Charge!!! Regardless of color, if if your the Mac then You The HNIC & SIKWITIT!!! (Meant from my heart, in no discriminatory or racial way intended, but only to acknowledge that you are awesome and that I’m very appreciative and look up to you for sharing your knowledge, skills and masterful explanations, that are useful and inspiring. Bless You!!!) Most Respectfully, Randy Chavez
