Before thinning Valspar Expressions Exterior Paint and Primer, it is crucial to read the label on the can for instructions and guidelines. The label may specify a particular ratio of paint to hardener. When using a Valspar enamel hardener, follow the directions provided on the hardener itself. The suggested mix ratio is usually 10 or 1 gallon of paint to quarter cup water.
When using Valspar Duramax® Exterior Paint and Primer, priming is not required, but an exterior primer is recommended. Many exterior paints can be slightly thinned with water to allow them to flow more freely through a sprayer that is having difficulty pumping the product. Valspar Duramax paints are mildew-resistant, available in 60 colors, and have a 2 hour dry time. They are acrylic water-based formulas with superior UV protection and water.
To thin latex paint, use clean water, XIM Latex Extender, or Floetrol. XIM is widely reputed to be better than Floetrol, but Floetrol is on a lot more stores. Consider using Valspar Duramax® Exterior Paint + Primer for your next home improvement project.
To thin water-based paints, use Wagner Paint Easy, a latex paint conditioner. Start with about 25 thinners, not too thin but thin enough to get an even flow. This 100 acrylic, professional-quality, exterior latex paint is developed to resist cracking and peeling and can be applied at temperatures as low as 35°F.
