WOW, that is amazing, sadly in America that would be too much of a job to get around in, I have been thinking about buying a box truck 19ft with a 10ft box to turn into a home, tired of rent prices going up all the time, one whole paycheck is just for rent and the other is bills…..legit no life when you work hard to only pay bills and always end up living paycheck to paycheck. I know the cost of building one of these will be a lot, but the money saved afterwards will be worth it, not really planning on traveling just parking somewhere local and still work.
You have created a gorgeous home with a lot of creative solutions for dealing with every day issues of living in a home that moves. Is the space that houses your electrical and water, etc insulated to protect them from the cold or extreme heat? If I ever went tiny I would definitely want to do something like your truck just handicap friendly (I have multiple spinal cord injuries from a car accident years ago.)
Beautiful conversion! I love the idea of using a box truck as opposed to a van or bus. If the vehicle portion fails, would you be able to buy a new truck and just attach your home to that? Building out a bus seems like you are committing to your home going away when the bus finally breaks down for good.
I have a question please about the insulation… can you do a in-depth article on the ventilation of the box truck… did you put venting in the walls for heat and moisture… im very interested how you did the insulation… because this is what Im plaining… I will have a 16 foot box, Isuzu truck. thanks
Hey Nico & Jona, ik zag julie leuke filmpje ergens een website en dacht wow. Die weten van aanpakken. Voor mij duurt deze manier van leven nog even, ik zit in sayalonga Spanje.bijna een jaar geleden hier gekomen. Reizend leven is zo’n lange wens. Online job die nog goed moet lopen. Maar wow wat tof dat jullie dit doen. Veel geluk samen enz! Top!
your framing timber size, 65mm x 38mm, interestingly, is 2½inches by 1½inches Is that the finished size or the nominal size? English sizes are a bit of a scam, the timber is cut with a multi-blade saw with the blades set at the nominal size between centres, no allowance for kerf, then any planing or sanding reduces the size further but it’s still sold at the same nominal size. A 2½inch nominal size timber can be 2inches when sold.
Dear Sir, A most fascinating mobile home build however I cannot help wandering if initially buying a refrigerated box lorry might have negated all the extra timber framing & insulation thus saving potentially time & money? Besides thisI think you both have done yourselves very proud of an exceedingly clean & professional project. Very well done. Kind regards.
