What is the difference between modern and traditional kitchen cabinets?
Texture in design refers to both visual appearance and tactile sensation. Natural wood cabinets absorb light, while painted cabinets with glossy finishes reflect it. Modern kitchen cabinet styles have a clean, uniform appearance, while traditional cabinets have glossy wood or rustic finishes, exposed wood grain, beadboard paneling, drawer and cupboard handles, and glass doors. Modern cabinets may blend appliances like refrigerators and dishwashers into the cabinet’s facade, and some may replace overhanging cabinetry with open shelves.
Traditional cabinets feature symmetrical lines, raised panel doors, exposed hinges, and ornamentation. Most cabinets are oak, cherry, or white and come with glazed, distressed, lacquered, or aged finishes. Glass fronts are also common.
What is the new trend in cabinets?
White cabinets, once the preferred color, are being replaced by warm natural wood tones and texturized finishes, which add depth, visual interest, and tactile appeal to a room. Homeowners appreciate these materials for their beauty and authentic feel. In 2024, green is expected to become one of the top cabinet color trends, offering a relaxing ambiance and connecting with nature. Toned-down red, a trend that leans towards terracotta or burgundy, is also becoming popular for creating an open and airy kitchen space.
This style is perfect for homes with stunning architectural details like wood-clad ceilings or beams. To achieve this, homeowners can install floating shelves secured with brackets or add countertop ledges for decorative display. However, it is crucial to ensure that any items chosen for display do not become outdated over time, as overcrowded open shelving can quickly make the room appear outdated.

📹 The Top 5 Luxury Cabinet Trends for 2023
Do you know what will be hot in 2023 for luxury cabinets? You’re going to want to share this video with your friends!
don’t mean to rain on your parade, but how’s any of this a trend, or even luxury? handleless cabinets with all of the manners of opening shown, internal drawers from blum, interior cabinet/closet led lighting etc. have been the standard for years, if not decades (partly even in ikea), at least in europe. been using it forever. same for porcelain worktops, been around for a long time, but i’ll give you the luxury factor there. the only “novelty” is the glass door closet, which imo only looks good with the two white shirts and vase on display on day 0, i.e. before it gets put to actual use and cluttered. undecided whether to call this good selling skills or smooth talk/hype
To me, heating up frozen pizza or making a sandwich is not really cooking. and you dont need a kitchen for that… I am sorry but this looks like old wine in new bottle, but I can tell this wine is stale…Kitchen is a place for fun, family, lab work and is not the room to meditate. Cooking is cooking and meditation is meditation, period! And those who cook twice a month do not need a kitchen. and if you cook twice a day at least 6 days a week knows too big of a kitchen as well as too small kitchen are both a ‘pita’. To me, I want to see most of the stuffs and wants to know most of the stuffs where they are. And Last thing you need to hide away the regular appliances, the go to pots and pans, and the like. And those glass closet doors are stupid, too much of maintenance, and a shot yourself on the foot. I am surprised who has the “last words” on this so called trends but what I see more and more these days is people wants to hang their pots and pans in open, or show off their patina on all clads, and they wants to station all the mini appliances they have. After an entire generation, home cooking is becoming part of life again in USA.. I thought days of hiding stuffs or shipping container sized useless drawers are long gone… Having said that, things like if it lights up while opening a drawer, separate coffee / tea station are few things I love and embrace!
Why do people go with trends?. No one’s going to be enjoying your house but you, so who cares what other people are doing in their homes, you should do what you like and stick with that. I think that’s the most stupidest thing is working with trends, you’ll be wasting money every 5 years because someone decided oh no that’s not in now you got to change, its ridiculous. That goes for clothes, shoes house colors, interior everything because stuff always come back in style which in reality it never really left.
