What is code 50 at Lowes Home Improvement?

A code 3 indicates a customer needs assistance or a store needs more staff in a specific department. Code 50 and code 75 are more specific, indicating assistance in the loading bay or taking heavy items to their vehicles. Code 75 calls employees to gather carts from the parking lot if supplies run low or corrals overflow.

A code 99 is typically an emergency code, indicating a worker injury, customer health problem, or other situation requiring calm and collected. Hardware stores can be precarious places due to equipment and heavy merchandise, leading to common workplace injuries such as trips, falls, crashes, strains, and heavy lifting injuries.

Emergency services like police and EMS are likely on their way to the Lowe’s store. However, code 99 doesn’t always mean someone is hurt; it could also refer to potentially dangerous situations that don’t yet constitute an emergency, such as chemical spills, power outages, or shelving collapses. Customers may be asked to stay put until further instructions are received. If necessary, staff may ask customers to leave the store, but most likely, the situation will be resolved, and a “code 4” announcement will come over the intercom, indicating that staff and authorities have control and customers can return to their shopping.

Does Lowes MST get bonuses?

The average annual salary for a Mst Merchandising Associate at Lowe’s Home Improvement is $39K, with no additional pay. The salary range is based on 3, 267 submitted salaries, with the “Most Likely Range” indicating values within the 25th and 75th percentile of all pay data. Glassdoor’s proprietary machine learning model uses user and government data to make pay predictions, resulting in a total pay range of $34K-$45K per year.

  • Hello! I wanted to let you know that after perusal this article I asked Lowe’s about the discount on large projects you mentioned. We got set up with a Pro Account and our 1st discount was for 23% on a huge order. If you know the price of wood these days, you can imagine the help that was! Thanks for what you do. 😊 P.S. I think you have an adorable family ❤

  • I have three things to point out that were not included in this article or other articles. My dad being a contractor and myself being a freelancer and home improvement type, anyone can do this. If you need an appliance, rather than going to the ones on the floor, go to the back, and they usually offer scratched or dented appliances that are either on the side or back of the machines. You will never see them if you put them up against the wall or against another machine and you can get up to 40% to 60% off. A second piece of saving, while most places offer only color pallets or tile pallets on piece of paper to find what looks good to your home, Lowe’s will also let you take home a sample amount of paint, and up to four pieces of tile, depending on the area. This makes it more accurate to determine what tile or paint will look good in your home. Third saving advice, be friends with the managers and employees, sometimes, they can knock a price down for 20% off, especially if it’s a display.

  • Great tips. And just an FYI, all those free cutting items such as blinds, wood, chains, carpet, wire shelving, etc, are also cut for free at Home Depot. I’m a vendor for blinds and just wanted to let you known that for your next Home Depot article. Always love your articles. They help a ton. Thanks again buddy.

  • Regarding tip #6, I stopped by my local Lowes. I passed four employees to inquire about my lumber purchase being cut. Waited 20 minutes and no one showed up. Finally went all the way down the lumber aisle and asked a cashier to call someone for assistance. I finally got fed up after another 20 minutes passing by, put my lumber back and left the store. I was also going to buy a table band saw, but I couldn’t find anyone to unlock the tool corral. My local Lowes is severely underemployed to the point that no one wants to do their jobs, lollygag the work hours away, and pick up a paycheck or just have an excuse for unemployment.

  • My mom once took a picture of an oven a few months before fourth of july at lowes. She came back a few months later during the sale and saw a sticker showing 50% off, But the price was just doubled and then halved so it was the exact same price. She showed the manager and said she was going to tell the news about their fake sales aswell as put it on google and yelp. They gave her an extra 50% off that day on the oven. -true story at a lowes is southern california.

  • Lowe’s Secret #6B, coming from a former Lowe’s employee: If you do take advantage of the cutting services inside the store, ask the store associates who is best at cutting that particular item and be there when that employee is working. Don’t show up during times when the department is understaffed or staffed by a rookie that just learned how to cut things last week. If you do come during those times, Lowe’s is still required to find someone to cut your item, and the inexperienced employee that gets stuck helping you might really mess up the job.

  • What? Wow! Now I know I can rent trucks to haul things to my house good to know ! Also I don’t know if the local post office still does 20% coupons in their change of address packets. I believe when you do change of addresses you are able to do it online as well and they usually send you coupons. Lowe’s is one of those coupons that’s worth it.

  • Great tips. A couple you missed – the discounted sections. Usually all the way at the back end caps of the store. You can find some great stuff if you’re lucky. I like the returned paint rack in the paint section. Paint is super expensive and you might just find what you need for deeply discounted prices. I’m talking like 5 bucks for a previously $40 gal of paint. Lastly, the open-box section in the power tools are. This is by far my favorite. I’ve gotten power tools there for 50 to 75% off just because the box was opened. These are normally returned items, so double check for missing parts.

  • FYI…Mark I am in California San Diego actually and you get 10 to 15% discount at Lowe’s and also at Home Depot if you are a military. It has saved us a lot of money throughout the years especially when we were remodeling and I know other people that live in other states it applies to them to all you have to do is call your local store and ask for your discount it definitely is worth it.

  • My sister in law lives out in the sticks of NM. She ran into that exact issue with “free shipping ” because of her proximity to the store. We never knew that, but you’re exactly right! Love all your helpful articles! I always use my military discount at Lowes! I get 10% savings on my purchases (like with the door I recently got there)!

  • I bought a Metabo table saw that was $70 off, and with the Advantage Card got another $100. Two weeks later we needed a new dishwasher so my wife got an Advantage Card (5 minutes to fill out on phone) and we saved another $100 on top of the heavily discounted sale price. Of course, I paid both debts off within 30 days and cut the cards. If you are a vet you get another 10%

  • Great article!! A tip that I have is usually in the appliance section they will have put a “scratch & dent” section. Sometimes the appliance only has a minor scratch/dent & is marked down. If the dent is bigger or more noticeable & the price isn’t marked down enough for you, ask for a manager & ask them very nicely if that’s the lowest they can go. A lot of times, the manager will mark it down some more just to clear out space. 👍🛒❤️

  • Thanks for these tips some I did not know and I could of saved over the years. Couple things I wanted to add: 1) (bonus tip) Download the app before going to store if you need help finding/locating something and you search it in the app it will tell you EXACTLY where that item is in the store so you are not running around lost. 2) Military discount will not work on (most) already discounted/sales items but it will for the rest of your items in your cart. For instance, the 5 bags of mulch for $10 sale you cannot combine mil discount or on some sale items of major appliances they say the sale is too much already to add the mil discount 🙁

  • I just shared a article on Facebook where a Lowes manger refused to give an older veteran the veteran discount. In fact the young manger talked down to the older man. He upset the veteran so bad the gentleman was crying and other customer stepped in. I don’t think that I will ever shop a Lowe’s again. I hope no one else will either.

  • Depending on what your home store is set to, there is a different online and in store price… I noticed when I was buying tile… my local home store had it for $0.98 per tile. But there was not enough so if I shipped it, it was $0.98 per tile. But then I was visiting a friend and my set home store was a different one a few miles away. The same tile was $1.26, both in the store and online if I wanted it shipped. I changed my home store online to my original local one, and both the in store and online price changed back to $0.98 per tile. I searched 10 stores locally and the price changed depending on the store location. And getting it shipped to your home, the price changed depending on the home store that was set, regardless of it being the same home delivery address. Very shady of Lowe’s.

  • First, they delivered a broken drier. They picked it up July 21st and the driver said I would get money within 48 hours. This was first lie. The customer service said refund by August 9th (LIE #2), she also said she put in for warranty refund (lie #3). August 11th, I go to store where I bought drier, was told money would be there today or tomorrow. (lie #4). Its now been 22 days since they picked up their broken drier and I STILL DON’T HAVE MY REFUND!!! Luckily, I’m in a place in my life where I was able to buy another drier from Home Improvement. But, when I was younger and raising 4 kids this kind of criminal behavior would have caused serious damage to my quality of life. So I hope everyone understands when I say. LOWES SUCKS!!!

  • My brother drives a roll-off truck. He picks up their compactor containers once a week. They give their vendors huge discounts on “damaged” merchandise. He just got me one of the touch screen Samsung refrigerators for $200 because it had a small dent on the side. (That’s a $3200 fridge for $200, y’all.) Fridge works great and you can’t tell it has a dent because it’s hidden by cabinets. 🤣

  • For blinds Lowe’s can only cut levolor brand. And they are not supposed to take any clearance items back (if you get someone who bends the rules you can get away with it). If you don’t keep your receipt and your state has tax and you go to return something you only get the current price and they keep your tax because you pay that to the state not to the store.

  • Be careful about the rebates. I bought an entire suite of Bosch kitchen appliances. There was a rebate of several hundred dollars. Upon delivery, the cooktop on the range was broken, so they took it back. Unfortunately, they did a return on it and rang it up again when the new range came. By then, the qualifying purchase date for the range had lapsed, so I only received a partial rebate. 🤬

  • Lowe’s employee here. Not a spokesperson by any means. Sometimes Clearance stickers are only temporary, either until a certain date (visible on our Genesis screen, if the employee knows where to look, not that it’s really hidden) or until our stock drops to some desired, lowered qty, or so I’ve noticed (this latter part is just something I concluded on my own). I’ve noticed that sometimes they’ll return to white tag items after being yellow Clearance. Look under the barcode for a small uppercase “N” on both white & yellow tags. This means it’s nonstocked/inactive. I personally haven’t been looking that closely lately, but I think we’re still doing that N thing (ordinary employee here, & policies do change). Nonstock clearanced items, when confirmed to be the last one in the store, are items you’ll usually have an easier time talking to a manager & getting a good deal on it. Also, items go on clearance for various other reasons, like a change of seasons, Lowe’s changing vendors (new product will be white tagged, another explanation for white to yellow to white again), or qty/volume of a product changing. The 75 mi. radius has been the policy for yrs. Also, maybe it’s changed, but at least in the past, if you declined @ the register to get the Extended Protection Plan (i.e. extended warranty), you do (did?) have up to 30 days from purchase to add/buy one. This obviously doesn’t mean be crazy hard/abusive on your purchase!! It’s just in case you do change your mind. Please don’t steal, cheat, lie, etc.

  • Love your articles. You may want to consider mentioning LGD appliances. Not sure about the rest of the US but there are no service reps available to fix a warranty problem in the Philadelphia area (2019 incident.) We bought a refrigerator and no one got back to us when we called to report a problem with our new unit. The phone rep told us you “someone one will get back with you” and no one ever did. Their warranty means nothing.

  • 1. Remember only Levelor blinds can be cut. None of the other (cheaper) brands. 2. The 20% is on the first $100 spent – i.e., $20. 3. Price matching for Amazon is for Amazon products only, NOT for third-party sellers. 4. Customers need to know that Lowe’s will sometimes deliver their products from the store closest to where they live, not necessarily the store they bought the product from (this matters to some customers, but I don’t know a way to get around it).

  • I just closed out my Lowe’s Advantage Credit card because, when I got mine, I was told that my payments would be $20.00 a month for a $1,000.00 limit and that it would never go up. What they FAIL to tell you that, even though you don’t miss a single payment, they make the payment go up anyway. My payments went from being $20.00 a month to it now being $180.00 a month. The $20.00 dollars a month was basically me paying on the interest alone. They are now threatening me with my account going to a collection agency, even though I haven’t missed a single payment. In my honest opinion, I wouldn’t even bother getting the Lowe’s card. I cut mine up and closed my account with them so that I can pay them off at my leisure.

  • I will say this It has to be the exact same item. Many of the other companies are trying to get items like Loews However Lowes and Home Depot have many tools that are exclusive to their stores maybe just 1 number or letter is different and that = no price match. I have seen Lowes stores will not even match another Lowes store that may be 12 or15 miles up the road, so i have no faith in that policy, whatsoever.

  • You have sign up to be MVP to be eligible for VOLUME SAVINGS AND YOU FORGOT TO MENTION ALL THE OERKS CASH BACK ( eligible tiers ) and mvp welcome email $20 off $100 or more and 10-20% saving on paint as mvp with $1000 . prizes etc!!!! You should research and do a article on MVP exclusively . INCORPORATE THE OTHER 3 Benefits of the Pro credit cards you technically do not have to own a business btw

  • A NOTE ABOUT LOWE’S WOOD CUTTING SERVICE… Good luck getting help with that! If they are busy, understaffed, or the “cutting guy” is out-to-lunch you are out-of-luck. Prepare to wait a long time because it is NOT always a priority. Also, most Lowe’s stores are currently understaffed, and they are HIRING, so if you need a job or a little extra money check it out. The employees at my local Lowe’s tell me it a good place to work.

  • I got a GREAT DEAL on my last Washer & Dryer! Why/how? One Lowes had the exact washer in the exact color for a HUGE discount because they didn’t have the matching dryer; but another one close by had the exact mate & in gas which I wanted! So, I was able to get both for the price of one & because I lived within 25 miles of each of them got free delivery & setup including removal of old appliances. What a deal!!

  • Lowe’s & JCP ➡️ window treatments And what I DESPISE about Lowe’s is that they bought then shuttered every Orchard Supply Hardware store. OSH was better than Lowe’s & Home Depot combined & you could always find THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE at OSH not to mention products you couldn’t find at the big box stores.

  • 1. Not all Lowe’s does tool rentals, only some of them do. 2. Bulk buying isn’t a secret, it’s literally on the tag. Reading does wonders. 3. Any specialist can save you a lot of money, not just the pro services. Flooring and Appliances usually have their own specialists. 4. Lowe’s does not do specialty cuts for wood. Also, only some of them cut pipes. Most of them will cut wood, chain, rope, glass, and plexiglass. You also have to purchase wood before you get it cut. 5. You get hit with a 26.99% interest when you get that 5% off with the credit card. But if you pay it off that month, you won’t get hit with that interest. 6. If you’re doing a price match, it has to be the regular price, not a sale price. 7. Once more, truck rentals depend on the Lowe’s. Not all of them offer this rental. 8. You can’t return clearance plants, but you can return full price plants. 9. Don’t trust everything you watch on YouTube.

  • Just saw this. Guess I have to thank YouTube this time for their quirky algorithms etc. Anyway my grandson has worked there about 3yrs. All the way thru the pandemic too. I have purchased from them on and off for many years but I didn’t know about these! Can’t ask him too much either because he gets easily frustrated. If he has any papers or anything we can read those but mostly he knows about his discount and what he has to do there. So thank you Matt! Really interested in the plant deals. I am a BLACK THUMB extraordinare lol. Idk how to spell that and neither does my tablet. Oh well. The truck rental is good too! 🙏🍀😍

  • What I noticed just yesterday a Sunday to stop into a local La Habra Lowes Store. I normally shop (weekly the past year) Home Depot La Habra. Our La Habra Home Depot although handy and of course cool is often crowed isles with one cart passage and lighting is horrible. Appliance department is a snug fit and lighting is ok. Home Depot is often cluttered and messy. Yesterday walking into Lowes is was SUPER Well Lit and clean and organized. When a store is poorly lit you just don’t get that “Hey lets go look over here” feeling. But with that said the crew there has always been great to help you find what you are looking for. Still love our Home Depot but I have to say after my Lowes visit I will be tempted to drop into Lowes.

  • My tip is NEVER buy a grill or lawnmower without buying the extended warranty. Usually, an extended warranty is a waste of money, but Lowe’s has a very generous return policy if anything goes even slightly wrong. I have cashed in on this twice with my push lawnmower. The first time, I couldn’t get the mower to start 2 1/2 years after I bought it and they gave me a new mower. Just this week, I had a problem with my nearly 3 year old mower, and they are sending me a Lowe’s card for the purchase amount, AND I can keep the mower! Great deal for items that might have a shorter lifespan.

  • I went to Lowe’s yesterday. An associate standing by door said… find everything you needed? What the heck, I’m coming in entrance with empty cart. Usually I have a hard time finding help there. Suddenly there are lots of smiling faces asking me same thing while walking thru store. Yes, they allegedly cut stuff for you. The equipment for doing so however is typically, chronically broken. I only needed one thing that I knew where it was located. I have a hard time going in garden center, they are plant killers. However, if you want a nearly dead Boston fern in July, 25 cents is clearance cheap -the hanging basket is worth that.

  • Military discount of 10% at Lowes applies to the entire purchase. Home Depot also has a 10% military discount UP TO $50 max discount amount (last time I checked, about a year ago). I bought a new dish washer, stove, another stove, microwave, refrigerator and washer/dryer all at Lowes for this vary reason.

  • JCPenney sells patio furniture and decor, in addition to window treatments. I’d bet that there is some overlap there. Marvin Ellison, CEO of Lowe’s, was previously CEO of JCPenney so I’m sure he is trying to capture some of that business. He brought appliances back to JCPenney and that was an area I’m sure he hoped to make inroads on. Though his replacement axed appliances, first thing.

  • Seriously … with that outfit … that background … that ‘energy’ … that tone and choice of words … I wouldn’t belive you when you’re telling me it’s raining while I stand outside in the rain … the most 10000000000000000% swindling sales guy I’ve ever seen xD Not saying that this is the truth but you at least make this impression in the article ggg

  • For the business side of things, you will need an EIN and you can set up a business “charge” card or an “escrow” card. They will run your credit for the charge card, but for the escrow card they will not run your credit. You have to preload the escrow card for the amount needed. Here’s the GREAT part of this, lowes runs it thru the QRC program they have. They can save you a lot of money depending on their mark up. I’ve purchased things a few percent above their cost. Typically I save 15%.

  • On the first point, if you see a tiny N under the barcode of a yellow clearance label, it means that it’s a nonstock item and what’s in the store is all the store has, and won’t be getting more. Also, discounts don’t stack on top of each other. The system is set to give you the better of the two deals. And if you sign up for a MyLowes account with Lowes.com, most purchases will qualify for free shipping. As far as pricematching Amazon and other websites, the item CAN’T be sold through a 3rd party, it has to be sold and fulfilled by that website.

  • My first time here so sorry if this is a repeat. this is easy to do, Buy Lowe’s gift cards from Kroger and get reduced to free gas! Watch for or wait til cards are 3 to 4 x’s point value. 3 of us bought $5000 worth over a short period and bought appliances . Had no trouble with lowe’s and free gas 2 months.

  • Better yet, what overlap does Lowes have with any of these stores, as most of their inventory are models made specifically for Lowes? This particular discount works best for small appliances – for which there is no real incentive to buy through Lowes. When they beat those prices, rather than match, then it will be a ‘money saving secret’. Also beware of their credit card company, as many customers have complained about not receiving their first bills, or any indication of a due bill until the bill becomes overdo, at which point they receive prompt notice …of their first late fee. Placing ‘too large’ a purchase on that new credit card can also cause the card to be frozen, even though paid off in full. ( This one happened to me – new card, zero balance, and completely unusable until the next billing cycle, per policy’ . Now,that’s an amazing secret.)

  • I had bought at my neighborhood Lowes an annual that died on me within the week I purchssed and planted it. 3 weeks later I’m buying mulch and just in passing I asked the garden associate if there was a replacement for annuals cuz I overheard there was a 1 year guarantee for perennials. The associate told me 1-2 weeks guarantee on annuals. Well, I didn’t rush back to the store when my flowers died and according to u I didn’t even get the correct answer. Thank u for the inside tips. Now I kno !!!

  • not every lowes rents trucks or rents tools, the blind cutting service is only available for the more expensive levolor blinds, price matching, the item has to be identical with same model number, yes we check. Also you didn’t mention the 30 day price match guarntee, if the price drops at Lowes or anywhere else, you can take your receipt in for a refund on the difference, again the model numbers have to match. Other than that, very informative article

  • No one ever answers the cutting area at my Lowes. Last time I needed a flimsy piece of particle board cut to fit in the vehicle, I ended up propping it up and stepping on it to roughly break it in half instead of waiting around any longer. If you catch a worker, make the most of it! Its nice if you don’t have the tools, but for someone who does. It can be very time consuming.

  • Large appliance clearances, as is no return and no delivery even you’re willing to pay for it. And then they won’t allow leaving it at store for later pickup even for less than an hour. Need to know you prices, seen yellow clearance tags on items when it were dropped a single penny. Then they have a good clearance price for weeks but the last one is the displayed model but they won’t sell it. What a waste of time, should remove the tag.

  • Glad I watched this. I use the 5% discount from the lowes credit card because I can pay the bill in full each time I use the card. It básically saves money on the tax I pay. I never ever get the extended warranty because the lowes repair program on appliances is not good. It takes two weeks for a service call on a washer. Two-four weeks for a part to come in.

  • Lowes also still cuts glass, Home depo does not, and home depot told me to my face they only cut one cut at a time. in other words, if you buy an 8×4 sheet of plywood they will only cut it in half for you that’s it. Lowes will cut it as many times as you want as long as you buy it Home depot will not. Or at least that is what the manager at my home depot on Military Drive in San Antonio told me! And the military discount is not on everything like wood it does not count on building materials in either home depot or lowes.

  • Hey Matt, I have another secret for Lowe’s. So my husband and I were out of town for a funeral, this past weekend. We had to get another generator for our travel camper. So we went into Lowes, wasn’t thinking twice about it, when the cashier said did we want to get additional warranty on it. We said no because there was already 3year warranty on the item itself and 2 years on parts. Like I said we were out of state and the lady said that we could not bring the box back if the box is open! That is what got us; so the manager said yea that’s true, because people come in for a return and get the money back. The customer walks out and the store is stuck with the old item! The manager said even if the tape looks like it has been pulled back, you won’t get any money back. What they did say is to get in touch with Craftsman and they will deal with the situation. Peace and stay safe to anyone reading this

  • Price matching you have to have proof of the other price and it has to be the exact same modle and package. Retailers are good at packaging the same item differently for each big name store that prevents price matching. And the year guarentee on perennials and shrubs doesnt apply to clearance purchases.

  • I love the part where, they price match everyone but, themselves! What I mean is, I watch live streaming from YouTub ers. But keep 🆙 with your cool 😎 articles thanks 🙏!!!
