Automatic headlights and adaptive headlights are not the same. Automatic headlights detect ambient light levels and activate the bulb when it goes dark. Adaptive headlights also have functions like high-beam assist, which switches between high and low beams automatically. These headlights have additional sensors that detect light from oncoming cars and switch to low beam at the right moment. Adaptive headlights can angle LEDs or projectors away from oncoming traffic, block out sections of their beams, or use a matrix of LEDs to turn off individual LEDs in a specific pattern.
