What Does Modern Design Art’S Use Of Triangles Mean?

Triangulation is a crucial drawing technique that involves comparing the angles of the sides of a triangle formed by three points on a drawing with the same triangle on the subject, resulting in accurate proportions. This technique is the single most important drawing technique to learn and is used in various architectural styles, including modern architecture. Triangulation is an art technique that uses references to help duplicate the geometry of a site, exaggerating its site constraints and corner conditions.

At Vitruvian Studio, triangulation is often used to explore how interaction design of 21st-century triangulation elements initiates social interaction and the role of body movements. The Asia Museum of Modern Art in Taiwan is a landmark building that brings together students, teachers, and the general public. The objective is to explore how interaction design of 21st-century triangulation elements initiates social interaction and the role of body movements through designing.

Triangulation borrows from trigonometry, where any two fixed points on the page can be used to find any third by gauging the angles between them. The emerging use of triangulation in Art, Architecture, and Design is not just for visual impact but increasingly for functional innovation. It is a geometric method used to determine the location of a point by forming triangles to it from known points, often used in fields like sighting.

In art education research, triangulation refers to the use of multiple methods or sources of data to validate findings and enhance the credibility of research. Triangulation is a sight method of finding two main landmarks and then triangulating to find the third landmark.

  • Thank you for this article. My life drawing teacher taught me this method in my first year of university. Sadly he did not explain it nearly as straight forward as you have here! Now I am starting my third and final year of my BA I am retracing my steps to improve my drawing skills. Now I can finally understand what he meant.
