Shafroth The Interior Department?

Will Shafroth, the President and CEO of the National Park Foundation, is a conservationist and outdoor recreation enthusiast with over three decades of experience in conservation and outdoor recreation. He has served as counselor to the former Secretary of the Department of the Interior, Ken Salazar, and as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Secretary Ken Salazar at the Department of the Interior. Shafroth announced his transition from his role as President and CEO of the National Park Foundation in January 2025, and will begin leading an initiative focused on the future of America’s national parks.

Shafroth has remained committed to preserving America’s public and private lands throughout his career. As counselor to the Secretary of the Department of the Interior, Ken Salazar, Shafroth oversaw the Foundation’s Centennial Campaign for America’s National Parks, raising more than $550 million over five years. Before joining the National Park Foundation, Shafroth served as principal deputy assistant secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks at the Department of the Interior, where he worked closely with the agency.

As president and CEO of the National Park Foundation, Shafroth oversees foundation operations and philanthropic support. He has also served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Secretary Ken Salazar at the Department of the Interior. Shafroth’s most recent appointment at the Department of the Interior was as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Secretary Ken Salazar.
