As a former optician I would say to wash your glasses in good hot soapy water and dawn dish soap, or what ever dish soap you prefer, as that cuts through grease on the dishes and therefore will effectively remove the oils from the glasses. Wash the whole pair, temples and nose area as well and then dry with a cotton or natural fiber cloth that doesn’t have fabric softner on it. I’d highly recommend keeping a cotton rag just for this purpose and do not use paper products to dry them. I hope you’ll try this!!!! 🙂

That fish looks like a Koi !😮 I used to have ponds not as big as yours smaller hobby ones. Anyways, I would go to Petsmart and buy barley bales that are for ponds. They were like a 6″ x 6″ and you just put them in your pond and somehow it gets rid of the muck an algae. You should try that, but I’m sure you can get a bigger bale of barley from a feed store. Nope! Wearing them all thw time does NOT make the glasses less greasy😅 you get cooking steam on them when you cook, nose marks every time you kiss the hubby, water stains when you’re out in the rain… you name it. Wearing a dress causes some folks concern, I am 80 + and do not own shorts, pants, jeans or anything except a dress. Grew up in a construction family, and decided to repoint our chimney. Our neighbor was so shocked to see a woman in a dress working on the chimney, he drove up on our front lawn. When we retired we decided to repaint our house, 26 gallons of paint, we became good friends with folks at the local paint store. One of the sales persons asked ” do you wear a dress when you paint?”, my husband, a retired minister, replied, “always”. Your life is your life, charming to me, but folks differ. If you Don’t like the program, move on. I enjoy covering small boxes with decoupage, boring to some. I enjoy egging and have for fifty years. For a person who decorates eggs all the time, I can’t find enough to decorate an egg tree, but my grandsons do, my Drs do, the pharmacy has a year round egg tree. Too much time to move forward. I am still trying to figure out the code to find you in Etsy.😢

I love your articles, Mary. I can relate to so much that you say. I took am super busy. I have just under 3 acres of mostly wooded property & have landscaped so much of it. Yes, it never ends! The only break I get is maybe 3 months in the winter. And by the way, I live in the northern part of Maryland close to the Pennsylvania line. I come in contact with many Amish people, mostly because of their nurseries. You may have said in a previous article of why you are not living that lifestyle anymore. I am very curious. I was taught to take the rings off the jars so you would know if you got a good seal or not. It has happened that a jar didn’t seal correctly and with the ring on it it’s sealed later, but after it got air inside. I had seen a article of a woman who got botulism, and almost died because of this very same thing happening. And your home and garden and the items you sell, etc. are all wonderful.

I love your articles, Mary! I don’t know why anyone would criticize, because there are many ways to decorate and we are welcome to use any of those ways! I believe those who feel negative about things should keep their feelings to themselves! Love your website. If someone is stating that its like “little house on the Prairie” with dresses, can̈ning and everything that she hates, why is she even perusal. Their are people that are just rude. There are an abundance of crude and rude articles on You tube that she could watch. It wasn’t criticism it was plain rude. I for on love perusal all the sewing, gardening, cooking and perusal how you and John work together. You should be proud of all you have accomplished. Get yourself a little small spray bottle fill it alcohol keep you some tissues and spray it and I’ll cut that grease right off of them. I got my little spray bottle before the pandemic with a set of glasses that I bought and I still have that little spray bottle, I love to spray the glass and back and wipe off the grime and grease. I’m a greasy person too.
I found that the anti-glare finish they put on glasses just serves to smear any oil on the glass around. I’ve tried various cloths and glass cleaning solutions from optical stores and nothing seem to help. I even told the optical store when buying new glasses that I didn’t want that finish on my glasses and they said they couldn’t eliminate it because it is on all their lenses. Just have to adjust to looking through smeared up lenses. But you don’t have any glare! LOL
I watch your articles because I enjoy them and never fail t be amazed at your creativity. Seems to be a talent you were born with. I was amazed today at some of the comments. Sometimes I wonder what some people are thinking. As you said, if you don’t like something, don’t watch. I may not love everything you do but I sure love most of it and appreciate all of it. In years past I supported my two sons and myself on doing craft shows and having a small shop. That is how I know how much work goes into what you do. Don’t change a thing. You are special and I’m grateful to have your articles to watch and enjoy.

Please do show some pictures from your trip as many of us are probably too old to travel now (speaking for myself here) and I love to watch traveling articles so I can see the beautiful parts of the world I wouldn’t get to otherwise. Mary don’t let that person discourage you, I have stone and picket fence everywhere. I’ve had that at every house I’ve lived in and gotten more compliments, then I can count. Stone and picket fence is very very cottage, and that’s the name of your website white cottage. It looks beautiful what you did, I love the fence with the stone. I wish I could upload you pictures because I would. I live in New Hampshire, which is the granite state so we have tons of stone and I line all my gardens with stone. That’s my border and picket fence. You and your husband did an amazing job and they look wonderful together.❤
Always learn from your question and answer articles, but I think it would be an improvement if MB drops the negative ones from the sessions. Not sure what purpose they serve. Seems some people wanted you to know their opinion but it is just their opinion. We don’t need to hear it. It made me think of the place in the Bible where it says, “…their love will grow cold….”. We want to focus on whatever is good and true and beautiful which you give us in ample supply. Keep the fires burning. What tempting treats at that get together! Surprised everyone isn’t 300 pounds.LOL.

Since you answered so many viewers articles, I thought I would answer yours. I watch your articles for a few reasons. They are so interesting. I learn so much new information, especially on refinishing furniture. They are also peaceful and calming in a very loud and busy world. I, for one, need this resting place for my mind.
