How To Use Enbs To Boost Interior Illumination?

This mod aims to adjust every type of lighting in the Skyrim game, making it easier to customize an ENB preset. To make interiors darker or brighter, open your ENB in game and adjust the “Base” light from Z+ Z- X+ X- Y+ Y. If global interior brightness is not available, adjust the point lighting interior intensity settings and the interior. In the shift enter menu ingame, open enbeffect.txt and under brightness, you can bump up the interior option.

To dark inside buildings, increase the light sources radius using DistanceFade settings under (COMPLEXFIRELIGHTS) and (COMPLEXPARTICLELIGHTS) (0.3 is the biggest radius). The ENB customizer will change any setting that an ENB preset changes, not just general settings. An ENB preset with brighter nights and slightly tuned down saturation for a realistic look can be created by setting day at 1:00pm and moving to an exterior location.

To adjust the brightness of nights and interiors, press HOME, open the enbeffect.fx tab, find the string, and go into the environment tab. Adjust the point lighting interior intensity settings and the interior ambient lighting intensity. You can also adjust the (LIGHTSPRITE) and (FIRE) sections of enbseries.ini in-game at the time of day needing adjustment.

In summary, this mod aims to improve the look of the Skyrim game’s lighting and make it easier to customize ENB presets.

  • Good Tip, unless you are using Techrochromatic ENB, the changes won’t change unless you check the Weather, top of the list in Environmental. It was driving me nuts, way too dark and nothing I did made any difference, then read about the Weather needing to be checked, it works! Nice to be able to see as well as not having to change out one of my Swords for a Candlelight spell or Torch or something. Apparently a lot of People are having issues with this configuration change not changing things in some ENB’s, a good thing to know.

  • i dont use ENBs cause they kind of confuse me…but say i wanted to make the glowing effects of things like RGB alduin ore other glowing tectures/skins brighter…how would i do that? cause i have a few armors, dragons and skins that have glows but they are barely noticable or dont glow at all (even tho they are supposed to). and would this ENB be recommended or would i need a different ENB mod?

  • I realize this is an older article but I’m wondering if it might be a different process or a different place to adjust if you have a weather mod integrated into the enb? The reason I’m asking is because I changed the enb I was using that didnt have any weather stuff and my new one is an enb specifically made for use with a specific weather mad and when I adjust settings the way I used to and the way you show its not working correctly… and its absolutely dependent on the weather at the time I’m adjusting…and I have no clue where or how to adjust it properly….anyone able to point me in the right direction?? Lol

  • Thanks for posting this article. I wanted to use the ELFX enhancer or hardcore, but they mess with my ENB or SMIM or something that else that requires more knowledge of TES5Edit. I did a couple dark dungeons and I’m hooked. The enhancer would also do something with the fog color to make it more brilliant when hitting light. Do you think there is a way to replicate that with ENB settings?

  • Hey can you help? The Fire on my screen is super intense, and causes the rest of my screen to darken and turn almost black.. it’s sometime of contrast thing… If I pull a torch out in a dark room, it lights up the room, but at the same time the ENB attempts to darken the area around the fire, makes it very hard to see :/ Do you understand what i’m explaining? I can upload a article… plz help! thanks
