How To Use Blend To Remove Interior Faces?

To delete internal faces in Blender, start by pressing the Tab hotkey on your model and selecting “Edit Mode” from the topbar. Select “Interior Faces” and then choose “Delete/X” to delete any interior faces on your model. This will automatically select any interior faces on your model. To delete them, press the Delete or X keys and choose “Faces”.

To remove hidden internal faces-edges-vertices, switch to Face Select mode, select everything, and use MMB and Limit Selection to Visible to prevent any face from being selected. Orbit around the model and deselect all outer faces, then use X to delete the inner faces.

If non-manifold geometry messes with linked flat faces, there are still interior faces left. Select non-manifold in vertex select mode and delete the inner faces. In edit mode, unselect everything (hit “a” until nothing’s highlighted), then Ctrl-Alt-Shift-M shows non-manifold (internal) geometry.

To merge duplicate vertices, clean up faces with “Limited Dissolve” and remove interior faces. Go into edit mode, unselect everything (hit “a” until nothing’s highlighted), then Ctrl-Alt-Shift-M shows non-manifold (internal) geometry. Select some faces on each surface and select linked flat faces with ctrl+alt+shift+F.

To automatically select internal faces, select “Select > Select All By Trait > Interior Faces, Delete/X > Faces”. To enter X-Ray and Wireframe mode, enter the edit mode (tab) and clear out the selection so no faces are selected (Alt A).

In order to delete the inner faces of a merged geometry, follow these steps:

  1. Select first the geometry on the “outside” and invert the selection.
  2. Select first the geometry on the “inside” and delete what is left.
  3. Repeat for the inner faces of a merged geometry.
