How To Take Out The Jeep Patriot’S Plastic Inside?

The plastic center trim in a 2007 to 2016 Jeep Patriot SUV can be removed using a trim stick or a big screwdriver. It is held up by several metal clips and has plastic tabs on the left and right sides. To remove the interior door panel, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the plastic trunk cover from the rear hatch.
  2. Use a plastic panel tool to look up at the dome lamp along the inside edge where the lens meets the plastic housing.
  3. Pry the lens away from the indent to allow the clip to pop out.
  4. Use a rag to pop the clip out by sliding it between the handle and the plastic, then pull the rag around in a circle.
  5. Remove the seats with precision and grace.

To remove the door panel, unscrew the screws located in the space of the upper lever of the door opening and the screws present in the handle (after removing the plastic screw cover caps). One screw to remove may be under the small plastic cover in the armrest.

To remove the trunk cover, open the hatch from the inside and fit a Plano Sportsman’s Trunk and a Ridgid rolling tool. A trick to remove tree fasteners without a special tool is to wrap a long piece of approximately 16ga wire under the head and wrap it around a few.

Being super careful, push/pull the panel in towards the middle of the jeep. You can also use star bolts on the rear tie downs or run wires down the tub by the factory loom.

There is a second frame that can be removed with 2 or 4 more screws to get full access to under the dash.

How do you open a hood latch from the outside?

To open a car’s hood, reach under the hood and pull the latch. Remove the car from the hood and feel for a latch or lever underneath. Some models press the latch to the bottom, while others open the hood by pulling a lever away from the lock. If the latch isn’t undone, refer to the vehicle’s instruction manual. If the hood doesn’t stay open, lift it and prop it up. Most modern vehicles automatically lock the hood in the upright position. If the hood swings freely, find a horizontal prop rod and insert the tip into the designated opening.

Can I drive with a broken hood latch?

A driver experienced a broken hood latch, which could pose a safety hazard as it could not be securely closed. The hood could suddenly release while driving, obscuring the road view. The issue could be caused by a broken cable between the hood release and the latch, which may have detached or frayed after multiple openings. If the cable isn’t kept lubricated, it can corrode and lock up. In this case, the corroded cable had to be replaced.

Often, a problem with the hood latch is not noticed until it breaks without warning. During routine maintenance, technicians often check for signs of hood latch issues to prevent getting “locked” out of the engine compartment.

  • AutoZone sold me the ratchet and sockets needed to unbolt the seat from the floor but then the seat belt was attached and it required a different parts and of course they didn’t have the individual part so I had to buy another set and it was screwed down so tight that it’s ended up stripping so now I can’t get the seatbelt removed will I have to cut the strap off?

  • Is there room beneath the rear seat for stereo and / or radio equipment? I have a 2014, and would like to put an odyssey battery somewhere, as well as an amp and a couple HAM radios. I considered underneath the trunk ‘floor’ plate, but don’ think there’s clearance between the spare etc. Battery might fit in the storage cubby on the right, though.

  • My dad and I removed the backseat from his patriot a few days ago to make room to move furniture. Problem is, when we re-installed the seats I couldn’t remember if the buckles went on the front side of the seat or the rear. At 8:15 I see that you took off the bolt that I think is where one of the buckles goes right? Or does it go on the back side of the seat with the nut? Also, at 9:05 you take off the bolt that I think is where the second buckle goes, is that right? Thank you.
