How To Take Out The Ford Fusion Interior Door Panel?

This guide provides a step-by-step guide on how to remove the door panel of a 2013-2020 Ford Fusion. The procedure involves locating the release points on the door panel, which are typically located around the door handle, armrest, and the door handle cover plate. To remove the door panel, loosen the bolts that secure the panel to its housing, located at the bottom of the panel and in the internal seat of the handle.

If the panel still won’t come off, it may take some good force to undo the panel fasteners the first time. When completing repairs on a 2008 Ford Fusion, such as repairing the rear-view mirror assembly or window assembly, you may need to remove the inside door. To do this, remove the screw on the door handle cover plate, pull on the door handle as if you were opening the door, and slide the door handle cover plate out enough to remove the screws.

The process involves removing the front door handle bezel screw cover, front door inside handle bezel screw, and front door inside handle bezel. There are three screws to remove, with the one you missed being in the door handle bezel, which is hidden by a screw cover.

To replace the entire door, remove the hinge fasteners right and disconnect the wiring harness. Once both driver side doors are removed, transfer the interior door card over.

  • I had to open up the panel to change out the door handle and lock tab. I am not mechanically inclined but after perusal this article and another that shows in more detail how to change the lock youtube.com/watch?v=bpcaBaM5aDw, I got the job done. The hardest part was reconnecting all the wires because you have to keep the panel close to the door and its size makes this awkward. The job took me about an hour (again, no real mechanical skills). If you are changing the handle/lock, the bolt inside holding the lock is 8mm and as was indicated in this article, the one inside the door grip was 7 mm. Thanks for sharing this article, it really helped!
