This video demonstrates how to remove the door panel on a Vanagon T3, which is necessary for various tasks such as insulating the van, fixing the speaker, tightening the wing window, and fixing the window mechanism. To remove the side panels, slide the tool up under the panel and work it up or down until you find a clip. Gently pry the clip out of its hole.
For the interior replacement part 1 (Slider and Hatch), pull the lower edge out to get past the metal tabs that the screws attach to get in the way of the panel. Sewfine Interior Products offers VW Vanagon install tips and information, including diagrams, instructions, and picture guides from vintage models. They also stock a range of top-quality panels for VW Vanagon body repair panels, including full-length side panels, sliding door seal U channel replacements, front panel sections, cab door repairs, and Vanagon wheel arch replacements.
To replace the top channel at the top of the slider and rear quarters where the factory panel was slid up into, remove the top channel at the top of the slider and rear quarters. The first job is to get the window trim onto the new panel. Put in the last set of torx screws you removed but don’t tighten them. Loosen the set.
These high-quality, nearly-indestructible, 3mm thick ABS panels can be run as-is, painted with a high-quality plastic paint, or upholstered. Replacement Body Panels, Grills, and Bumpers for your Vanagon are available, but not all replacement parts are the same.
