How To Replace The Seal On The Rv Slide’S Interior?

The slide out seals on your RV play a crucial role in protecting it from various outdoor elements. When these seals become worn out, cracked, or deteriorated, they can cause costly leaks and damage to the interior. To replace these seals, follow these steps:

  1. Position the slide 6-10″ to allow access to the seal(s).
  2. Peel the seal off starting at the bottom of one side.
  3. Clean the area.
  4. Apply the new seal.
  5. Apply sealant.
  6. Do the same for the bottom wiper seal.
  7. Test it all out.

Replacement is essential for preventing water leaks and ensuring the longevity of your slide outs. To do this, collect essential tools, remove the old seals using a plastic scraper, and install the new seals by gluing and fastening the vertical slide outs.

In a 2017 Keystone Passport 2520RL, the interior slide out side seal is ripping and flopping. To replace it, pull off the old seal and press the new seal onto the metal flange.

In summary, replacing RV slide out seals is an essential maintenance task to prevent water leaks and ensure the longevity of your slide outs. By following these steps, you can ensure that your RV remains protected from water and debris, preventing costly repairs.

  • Thanks for this article! My wife and I purchased a used class c with slideouts and, of course, received very minimal instructions on care and maintenace from the dealership where we purchased it. This is our first rv with slides. for two years now we have been merrily sliding them in and out until I noticed that they were making more noise and were not moving as smoothly than I remember in the past.

  • You said a mouthful about smoke alarms. They ALWAYS go off in the middle of the night! And while we’re on the subject, I’d like to know who the genius was that said, “Hey, let’s make this thing chirp at a frequency that is extremely reflective so you spend 8 hours searching your entire home to find out which one is bad and better yet, let’s set up a very long time delay so you have to stand at each one of them for, I don’t know, how about 10 minutes waiting for it to chirp!.” His co-worker says, “But Wilbur, why not just have the sound be continuous so it’s easy to find?” He replies, “Well, we could, that would make sense, but we’re engineers so we never do what makes sense. Make it chirp and then delay for 10 minutes.”
