  • Do you recommend painting the insert trim? The white color is close to the white color of my door, but not an exact match. My glass insert is a 15 lite grill style and would require a lot of masking off the glass to paint with a small brush. Ugh. I may live with it being close enough in color. However, since it’s an exterior patio door, would paint be advisable on the outside trim to give it more weather protection?

  • Is it possible to replace just the exterior clear glass piece of a side lite if you remove it from the panel? I am now confident I can remove the glass thanks to your article. The inner etched glass piece and the clear glass piece that is on the interior of the panel are fine. Looks like the previous owner shattered just the outer clear piece.

  • I have a door with the ugly sealed blinds inside the glass – in other words double glass panel. I HATE HATE HATE HATE sealed in blinds so I want to know if its possible to buy an insert panel that fits my door. I’m assuming a single glass pane wont fit in a door that’s had sealed blinds. Am I wrong? If I need to replace it with a double glass panel can I buy one WITHOUT the ugly blinds?
