My kitchen requires only two upper cabinets. Because the two cabinets will need to be on either side of a doorway, they need to be somewhat symmetrical, but the dimensions of the wall spaces where they are to go are not symmetrical in width. Even one custom change to their width from standard size cabinets adds $1,000 per cabinet to their cost, so I’ve been indecisive about whether to pay to change the widths, & go with using some type of filler to pick up the gap. At least that way, the heights & cabinet style can create some symmetry without breaking the bank. Meanwhile I’ve also got the cost of two quartz slabs – a white one for a backsplash, and a black one for a countertop and waterfall edge. It’s a lot to consider, but these will be in my home for the long haul, and will greatly affect the home value to potential buyers once the market picks up.
