How To Remove Mildew From Painted Exterior Surfaces Using Borax?

To kill mold with borax, mix one cup of borax with 1 gallon of hot water and mix thoroughly. Wear safety gloves and sprinkle the solution on the moldy surface. Scrub off the mold with a brush or cleaning pad and allow 2-3 hours for the borax to disinfect the surface. Rinse the surface with clean distilled water. For painted walls, use a gallon of warm water and a cup of bleach. You can also add trisodium phosphate (TSP) to expedite the process.

To remove mildew from exterior painted wood surfaces like patios, siding, and other wood furniture, follow these simple steps: clean out the gutters, spray and scrub exterior siding, and spruce up the deck or deck. Before applying the solution, cover plants with a plastic sheet to prevent getting bleach on them. Spray the surface with water and dip the long-handle in the solution.

To remove mildew from wicker furniture, wash it down with a solution of 2 tablespoons ammonia in 1 gallon of water. Borax works effectively on mold and is less toxic than bleach. Mix 2 gallons of warm water, 1/2 cup of borax, and 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap in a bowl. Apply the solution liberally.

To make the solution more potent, dissolve two tablespoons of borax with 1/4 cup white vinegar and two cups of hot water in a bowl. Pour into a spray bottle and liberally apply on the affected area. Dissolve borax in hot water and wipe walls without rinsing to inhibit mold growth. Use a dehumidifier and check the outside wall for waterproofness. Use a borax and water solution and wipe dry.

Borax not only kills mold but also has a prophylactic effect against mold-regrowth, dry rot, and other issues. Cleaning with borax is the standard treatment for dealing with mold. The first step is to wash with a mild detergent to clean up the actual mold. To remove mildew from upholstery and other fabrics, soak a sponge in a solution of 1/2 cup borax dissolved in 2 cups of hot water and rub it into the affected area.
