How To Put Together An External Door Handle?

Installing a door handle is a simple DIY project that requires a new door handle set and a flat-head screwdriver. Follow these steps to ensure a secure and professional finish. The process involves screwing the latch into the door hole, threading the spindle of the exterior half of the door handle into the door hole, aligning the holes for the interior half of the handle, and inserting the handle into the spindle of the exterior half. Screw the door handle together from the interior side of the door.

To install the outside handle, insert the axle or spindle through the latch cylinder at a 90-degree angle. Ensure that the new handle is at the right height. Before tackling this task, it is recommended to spend some time determining the right height of the handles, safely drilling holes in the door, and how to chisel.

To install the new door handle, follow these steps:

1. Install the latch bolt into the lateral hole.
2. Place the exterior handle aligned with the opening on the exterior of the door. Set the latch of the door handle into its hole and make marks to show where the faceplate will be located. Chisel out the faceplate so you can see the new handle.
3. Remove the old handles and clean the area where they were mounted with a cloth. Use a screwdriver with the correct head when installing the new handle. Insert a screw into one of the holes in the faceplate and slip the handle over the barrel, making sure the screw goes into the grub screw. Tighten the screw.
