Thanks for posting, I see one issue when it is really windy? but I see at the last section of article, there is a attchment to anchor to the wall. I wish they could make it 10 feet, instead of 8, most houses are standard 9 feet ceiling so giving extra 2 feet you can bring all the way down and use anchor to secure on the bottom. I have bought 3 but I also need a 4 feet for the side, so it can be completely closed, if needed and could be kids private den for playing lol. I will call the company to see if they can offer me a 4 feet.
So I mounted the brackets on a 6 foot – 1″x2″. Two brackets, 12″ from each end and 1 in the middle on the 2″ side. Then, I screwed in 2 eye screws into the 1″x2″x6′ top side, 12 ” from each end. I used 2- 4″ screw hooks, screwed into the patio cover header( in a smaller drilled hole), which is covered with stucco. This method allows me to slide the shade an additional 12″ (left-to-right) from each side to adjust for the changing direction of the sun. Placing the end brackets further from the 1×2 ends allows for greater coverage. Also during winter or annual cleaning, all I have to do is lift up the entire shade attached to the 6’x1″x2″, up and over the eye hooks, without ever removing from the bracket clips. Saves time unmounting and remounting.
The only thing I do not like is that the crank rod does not fold straght and hang down. For tis reason I will buy the Coolaro from Lowes, a little more but well worth it to me The price point is about 20% more for the Coolaro but well worth it! The good thing about the Costco brand is that the loop at the top for the crank is metal and the coolaro is plastic buy very strong, I doubt it will break and you can always go on line to order parts for both. I am buying mine today as a matter of fact and I was looking for comparason articles on both. Thank you for making this article, it was very good Cheers!
