To fix a torn screen room divider, follow these steps:
- Prepare the hole by cleaning the area around it with a soft bristled brush.
- Measure and cut the length and width of the tear using two pieces of rice paper that will overlap the area.
- Apply glue to the surface of the tear and place the patch over the tear.
- Dry and repeat the process.
- If the room divider is damaged, adjust its setup by adding more rings to the curtain divider’s hanging rod.
- Place 4 books approximately the width of the track in the corners and press the pane in one corner at a time. Press out any bubbles.
- Lay the screen on a table or saw horses and roll the fabric onto the screen.
- Use fabric scissors to cut the fabric to approximately the size of the screen.
- Create an 8-foot tall DIY modern room divider screen that is lightweight, easy to move, and still allows light to show through.
- Place new shoji paper over the screen, ensuring that the right side against the grid facing out is facing out.
- Work one panel at a time with the right side against the grid facing out, using a flat head screwdriver to push the panel into the groove.
- Clean the entire room with turpentine and lightly sand each panel with 320-400 grit.
- Attach close-up images of the room divider to help visualize the repair process.
