If you have a chipped or cracked tooth, it is essential to rinse your mouth with warm salt water immediately to clean the tooth and soft tissues. Apply pressure to stop bleeding and set a cold compress on the affected area. While doctors don’t recommend home fixes for broken teeth, there are some steps you can take to protect your tooth and mouth.
If the repair is to a front tooth or visible when you smile, your dentist may use a procedure called bonding, which uses a tooth-colored composite resin. Temporary filling material can be purchased from local pharmacies or supermarkets, and you can repair it yourself using the instructions on the packet. Broken front teeth are often repaired by dental composite bonding or dental veneers.
Repairing a cracked or chipped tooth can be minimal or require extensive treatment depending on the type of crack and extent of the tooth affected. Treatments for a chipped, broken, or cracked tooth include gluing the fragment of tooth back on, a filling or crown, or root canal. Some effective ways to fix a chipped tooth at home include using dental wax, temporary dental cement, saltwater rinse, and avoiding hard foods.
To temporarily fix a broken tooth at home before seeing an emergency dentist, follow these steps: rinse your mouth with warm water, apply dental wax or sugar-free gum, apply a cold compress, place an ice pack on the cheek for pain and inflammation reduction, and remove plaque and sticky food particles left behind by flossing around the tooth.

How to fix a broken tooth naturally?
A cracked tooth can be diagnosed through various natural remedies, including saltwater rinses, peppermint tea bags, ginger root, garlic, clove oil, ice packs, guava leaves, and counter medications. The most common symptom is pain, which can range from mild to severe. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is crucial to see a dentist as soon as possible to diagnose the problem and recommend treatment.
One natural solution to fix a cracked tooth is a saltwater rinse. Mix one teaspoon of salt and eight ounces of warm water, swish the mixture around your mouth for about 30 seconds, and repeat it several times a day. This simple and inexpensive method can help relieve pain and sensitivity while promoting healing. It is essential to consult a dentist if you experience any of these symptoms.
What glue is safe to use on teeth?
Dental-grade resin is the best glue for dental work, but it can be expensive. Instead, consider using acrylic resin, which is designed for dentists and is the most durable type. To use resin safely, prepare a clean workspace, ensure all dentures are clean and dry before applying it, avoid touching the resin with your bare hands, be cautious with the amount of resin needed, and wait until the glue is 100% dry before putting your dentures back into your mouth. Be cautious with allergic reactions as the glue has direct contact with your mouth and gum tissue. Overall, acrylic resin is a durable and cost-effective option for dental work.
Is it safe to superglue a tooth?
Over a decade ago, Barlow used superglue to glue her tooth back into her mouth, causing it to erode 90% of her upper jawbone. After her situation worsened, she sought dental help, which required the removal of 11 teeth from her top jaw and the placement of six titanium screws to insert 12 false teeth. A BBC documentary, ‘The Truth About Your Teeth,’ provides a closer look at her dental health. Dr. Sharma, a dentist, aims to alleviate patients’ fears and stay updated on the latest practices, ensuring a gentle, personal experience for each patient.
Can you bond a broken front tooth?
Tooth bonding is a cosmetic method for repairing chipped or broken teeth, often used for front teeth. It involves a composite resin that matches the tooth’s color, making it effective. Dental bonding is not suitable for all teeth, especially those with less direct biting and chewing. A dentist uses a special gel to etch the tooth’s surface, applies the tooth-colored resin, and uses ultraviolet light to harden the resin, sealing the tooth.
What happens if half of your tooth breaks off?
A half-broken tooth can occur due to various factors, including trauma to the face or mouth, biting down on hard objects, and poor oral hygiene. It is crucial to save the broken piece and bring it to your appointment. Your dentist may reattach the broken piece or fill in any remaining gaps. If the break is minor and the edges are intact, the dentist may bond the broken pieces back together. If the damage is more severe, a dental crown or filling material may be used to cover the break. If the break is severe enough, extraction may be recommended as a last resort. Once a tooth has broken off, it cannot be regrown. It is essential to save the piece and bring it to your appointment.
What happens if a tooth cracks in half but is still attached?
If your tooth has cracked in half but remains attached, be cautious to prevent further damage. It may be difficult to reach the dentist, and drinking and eating soft foods can cause significant pain and potentially break the tooth. Avoid excessively hot and cold drinks, and eat soft foods if possible. If the fracture has caused a portion of the tooth to come out, try to save it, as your dentist may be able to bond it back onto the rest of the tooth. Use clean gauze to stop bleeding and manage pain with over-the-counter ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If you feel no pain, see a dentist immediately.
Can I glue a broken tooth?
Glue is not suitable for use in the mouth due to its toxic nature and potential negative effects. It can cause more problems than it solves and may damage the tooth further. A tooth break can worsen if not properly restored, leading to weakening, infection, or even loss. It may also have internal damage. Waiting too long to see a dentist can be more expensive and time-consuming. If the tooth becomes painful, it will need to be removed, and the cost of repairing it will increase. Therefore, it is essential to seek professional help if a tooth is lost or damaged.
How long can I leave a broken tooth in my mouth?
Patients with severely broken teeth should see a dentist within 24 hours of injury, or use dental cement to cover it while waiting for an appointment. If the tooth is completely knocked out, store it in warm milk or saliva, and handle it by grabbing its crown. Immediate treatment is crucial for knocked-out teeth, which can be successfully reattached within a few hours. Ignoring a tooth can lead to severe nerve damage. If the dentist cannot reattach the tooth, it may be replaced with a dental restoration like an implant.
What is the cheapest way to fix a broken front tooth?
Chipped teeth can be caused by various factors such as trauma, chewing on hard foods, or poor oral hygiene. The cost of fixing a chipped tooth can range from $300 to $5, 000, depending on the repair method. Dental bonding is the cheapest option, while implants are the most expensive. Factors like location, complexity, and dentist experience can also affect the cost. Payment methods include dental insurance, which can offset the overall cost if the chip repair is medically necessary.
General dentists can fix chipped teeth, often performing bonding, veneers, or crowns. However, some may refer patients to a cosmetic specialist for complex cases or hard-to-reach teeth. To avoid overpaying, follow basic steps and consult a dentist for proper care.
Can broken front teeth be fixed?
It’s crucial to visit your dentist immediately after a tooth breaks in half, as leaving it untreated could lead to further damage and a more severe treatment plan. There are various options to fix or replace a chipped tooth, with treatment varying depending on the severity. Minor chips may require minimal treatment, while deeper or more severe cracks may require more advanced care. Common front teeth repair options include fillings, crowns, and crowns. It’s essential to understand your situation and what your dentist may recommend to ensure a successful outcome.
How to fix a broken tooth without a dentist?
To repair a chipped tooth, you can use dental wax, wax paraffin, or sugarless chewing gum. Dental wax is a temporary solution that covers the sharp edges and hardens the tooth, but it is not permanent and may fall out over time. It can also increase the risk of infection or further damage if the chip is related to a cavity or decay. If dental wax isn’t available, wax paraffin or sugarless chewing gum can be used to prevent the tooth from cutting the mouth or tongue. It’s also important to avoid hard foods and chewing on the chipped tooth to prevent further damage.
Since dentists only see emergency patients right now I got some of this to repair a chip on the back edge of my tooth that already had dentist applied bonding on it. It works like a charm. The repair is a bit rough and not perfect since it was my first try with this kit. But I am very happy. The repair will help stop further chipping in the area. I’ll keep the kit in the fridge and use it again if necessary. Glad I found this article.
Man, I wanna try this but I am terrified of doing a terrible job, or even a fatal infection or complication. I’m a broke student and don’t have a ton of money to spend on dental without insurance. Not sure what to do. It always looks easier perusal someone do it than it is performing it in real life. Regardless, thanks for posting this!
This definitely works. Thanks for your articles! I watched an older one where you recommended this kit and it fixed the chip and lasted for a long time. Several months if not a year. I’ll be honest, there were times when I’d try it and it would fall out after a few hours. If that happens, don’t be discouraged. Just try again. I’m not sure what the “trick” is aside from the more you do it, the better you’ll become. Definitely try to keep the tooth as dry as possible.
Amazing how you did the instruction, repair, and kept your mouth open the whole time. On ebay I see they sold about fifteen thousand kits. Sure you left many dentists not smiling. If I may add I have used a metal nail file to smooth sharp spots on chipped teeth so my tongue stopped getting cut until I could see a dentist. Some chips were very small and not cosmetic so I opted to not repair them.
OK, HERE is my experience thus far.. : 0) I got exactly what you have in the article .. I was missing 2/3rds of a tooth in the front.. It had been filled about 12 years ago and broke off while eating a cookie my GF made of all things.. : 0) Well went to the dentist and they said they wouldn’t do it and gave me options of $3500 and up!! I came home and looked online and found THIS article.. I got the package 2 days ago.. SO what has happened thus far?? Well I cleaned the tooth and did everything correct but was not anticipating for it to harden that quick when put onto the tooth.. Because my break was a big one, I had a decent amount to putty up.. Excess on the back was terrible.. Later that day I had filed the back of it and made it to where I could eat without hitting my bottom teeth.. I used a file kit from Walmart that cost $4.. Took over an hour to get it corrected in my mouth.. I did NOT wait around when installing so it hardened really quick.. Front looked great.. Now while filing the excess it had gotten loose. But not to the point of it coming out of place.. I slid it down and reglued it in place and bonded the back to make sure break was covered completely.. I put extra glue on the front of the tooth on purpose to hold the tooth in place for 24 hours.. Today I came home and filed the excess off.. I have eaten about a 100 peacans on that tooth today.. I ate supper last night as well.. After filing it today it still feels really good and firm.. I think it is good to go, but only time with tell.
I just got a minute corner chip in the top of my composite filling yday on my lower left molar and since my dentist is closed due to covid19, I’m ordering this kit to repair it after much research. I love that it requires no light like he uses, self levels and I’ve seen excellent reviews. I’m not allowing my yrs of braces, kept dental visits and great oral hygiene to be jacked up because of the cov.😄Appreciate you B🖒
Etching is done to the enamel so the bonding material/composite can adhere. Be warned that the bonding will stain with drinks and food like coffee, red wine. Use a tiny paint brush to put the etching material on. Let dry. You will have to shape the bonding material to match the Anatomy of the tooth to match the tooth next to it. Also I don’t know what color this kit comes in so it may not match your other teeth.
I bought this product. It works..as long as you follow directions and do not expect it to be a permanent fix. Mine kept for several months. Everyone has different teeth. And some have a softer enamel teeth. So I think it’s worth the money. It’s really not that much to pay for a self confident smile temporarily of course.
I’ve been wanting to order this and do this for yrs now. I FINALLY gt to order it, from the link in ur description. THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for the tutorial AND the link to order the supplies too, so we know we’re buying the EXACT SAME THING u used, and not the wrong stuff. Thank u soooo much for this !!! I’ll let u know how it goes when I gt it done. Great great job and article, btw.
Its been about two and a half years since I used this for the first time and I’ve had no issues at all! I fixed one of my front teeth and it finally fell off today. I think my habit of bitting my nails (with the other teeth)but along with my habit of kinda chewing around the inside of my lips which causes me to grind my teeth most likely played a part in this finally falling off. I can definitely say it lasted so much longer than I ever would’ve expected and most definitely much longer than any dentist has done in the past! I’m about to fix it again tonight. I think I’m going to also do the front bottom teeth that have been slowly but surely grinding down because of my bad habit. Hopefully that’ll be a good reason to help me stop my bad habits. Fingers crossed!🤞😁👍
Listen y’all, Going on 6 months now.. I rebuilt 2/3rd to 3/4th of a front tooth and have had no issues with it at all.. I even forget that it is even made.. I cleaned the two teeth beside it well and then bridged this built tooth into place with them. I made it go to the top of the gum line so that no food can get stuck between the bridge I built.. It’s perfect.. I did it wrong sort of the first time I created the tooth and thought it was the glue itself that was doing the trick.. It’s not.. It is the material AND the glue together that is making the strong bond.. If you made a tooth and it chipped, don’t just use glue to fix it.. It will be discolored as well and be short term.. So after a month or two.. The tooth had gotten loose from not understanding the process as well.. you HAVE to use the glue compound WITH the created teeth material. Did it correctly and it is rock solid.. I can eat corn, steaks, hard candy anything.. I put the tooth back in place correctly and been perfect every since.. Note for anyone that is creating a tooth, get a small set of chizzles from Walmart.. Shape it correctly to be exactly how your tooth should be.. If making a bridge, file around the edge of the new tooth to make it look natural.. Hold the tooth with your fingers while doing any filing to keep from breaking the new bond.. This stuff is awesome.. Period!!
Dentist charged me $330 for each of my two front teeth. Little bastard said he wouldn’t close the gap because it would look like horse teeth. However, I got it bonded when I was 17 and the Dentist basically closed it and the bonding lasted for nearly a decade. I’m 28 now lol.. Going to try this and just do this crap myself. thanks for the vid!
Hi Bobby 🙂 You did that fast and well. I would probably get anxiety ridden with trembling hands haha! I have a small chip along one of my front large teeth. So they look uneven. I wondered whether this material and compositie you use cause any discoloration over time? Or does it turn the same color of the teeth. Mine are quite whitish. Does the fixture discolor over time or when you eat curry for example lol? I did buy a kit some months back but did not have the nerve to try it out yet. I am also wondering about the acid and whether this could damange the tooth over time. Does it last a while? Or do you have to do this repeatedly? Let us know would you? Much appreciated.
I am a dentist and what you advise to do is very poorly recommended, first of all because there are many cavities in the anterior teeth that, being caused by caries and not by a fracture, you run the risk of making it worse by sealing it without any kind of aseptic measure, by covering it without cleaning the caries, it continues to advance in the tooth until the situation worsens. In your case it may work because it is a fracture that looks clean, advice that costs you nothing, isolate the tooth with cotton because the number one enemy of the materials adhere is the saliva, get microbrosh to apply the acid and bonding, and an instrument with the shape of a tail at the end to mold the tooth so that it looks better because you look like a savage doing everything with your fingers.
I saw your article a while ago and thought no this isn’t going to work for me so I went a different route. got i got those thermal beads where you melt them and you can form them how you need them and then they harden, and those are great but it’s not what I expected and so I’m back at your article and I think this kit is actually what I need. So I’m going to purchase….thank you !
Hello, I am leaving this comment as my review of this product. I couldn’t get it work. Plus it seemed to have left a chemical burn on my gums. I have a chip on the back of a front bottom jaw tooth I was trying to fix. Maybe I did something wrong? Does it not work on the back of teeth? My dentist won’t respond to me so I tried this method and I personally was really disappointed.
While it’s good, the only permanent solution is a dental implant. If a person has a lot of horrible teeth they can use a permanent denture, but if it’s just one tooth and the rest are fine, you need a dental implant tooth. In the USA things are expensive, so Americans should visit another country like Malaysia or something and you can probably get a pretty good dental implant for one tenth the price you would pay in the USA, I think one single tooth in the USA will cost crazy money like 2000 dollars minimum.
I want to thank you SO MUCH for helping me and telling me about this stuff I had three fillings fall out and my molars chipped it was so hard to eat and I went to the dentist like 10 times and every time it was $500 to $1000 bucks even had dental insurance that was a scam I just did a better job than they did Hopefully it stays in for a while It really is a crime how dentists take advantage of people it’s like you hate to be rich and stupid to have your teeth fixed and with all the fluoride they put in our water and toothpaste it actually damages your teeth and bones so that’s BS too I’m doing pulling you should try it it will prevent further damage and whites your teeth Coconut oil and cinnamon oil there’s tons of articles on the web that tell you how to do oil pulling check it out Thanks brother your the best 😊❤
My teeth are exteemly warn down. Dentists only want to crown after root canals because some are so low it will expose nerve. Bonding could be a great answer ….but how to totally disinfect is the question. I learned that elecrical stimulation using the negative lead and a silver wire will kill bacteria inside…. Also, if I want to do a few teeth, could it be done in stages…built up later to get a normal bite? So Im not sure would about which order to do— a low tooth sida and then a front or visa versa. And if I made an error can I shape it later or remove it without damaging the original shape? Any thoughts? Thanks
I appreciate the article. I’m definitely going to do this and you’re probably going to get a few more views from me til I get it figured out. Btw, if you make any more of these, it might be easier to just voice over what you’re doing later instead of trying to explain what you’re doing while you’re doing it. Just a thought.
TO THE DENTISTS, lower your freaking prices!! It’s ridiculous for a lower class, even middle class family to struggle for everything we acquire. Our teeth are detrimental to our lives. Tooth pain alone is excruciating. Why can’t people just help to make sure under privileged (broke) people can at least not be forced to suffer through life because of your prices? Asking because my dental insurance is too much so I only get one cleaning per year and the rest is out of pocket. I would have to sell my truck to have my front tooth repaired-
thank you so much. i have done mine today. it is almost the identical chip to yours. looks good now. i was sold a pack which only had five days left before it expired, but i did get a refund so great for me as it has worked anyway! i will need practice as you have said for the technique to get it in place but the end result is very good. so i dont need the etchant every time? just the first time i use it?
Does this last just as long as if I was going to the dentist? Like does it last or will it just pop out cause I ain’t got the money for the dentist but I’m considering thinking about this I don’t have a big chip and it’s in my very front tooth I just don’t wanna get it and then I have to keep replacing it?
So i ordered with your link, but you never mentioned if you can make tooth shades whiter or if its just one color??? I think its a very solid product from your demo and reviews i have read… I do have a silver filling that broke off on a molar also… no tooth is exposed, still a lot of filling but there is a hole… question will this bond to fillings??? i am hoping it does… Even if this only lasts a couple of months protecting before it breaks lose to me it seems worth it.. the key seems to clean well, prep and maybe use hydrogen peroxide to kill any bacteria before you apply… thanks for sharing
Despite me living in Sweden where we have free healthcare but at the dentist it’s not free but it still costs way less to repair teeth here anyway. Been at the dentist 7 times in last 2 years for the same tooth and I’m just so tired that my tooth is still causing me trouble. 2 Days ago I seriously went out into the forest to collect tree resin, boiled it with water to disenfect it and then put it onto my tooth. It was working for 2 days but I didn’t have anything to cure it with so eventually the resin was getting rubbed off from eating/brushing teeth. And today it’s all gone. I was even thinking about buying a UV lamp and maybe try again haha. But collecting tree resin is a tiring and messy process and no guarantee it will actually work even if I get a UV lamp. Well I guess that kit you talked about could be an alternative. I’m just so so soooooo tired of my stupid tooth hurting all the time. Pain makes you do crazy things. I’m glad I have so much forests in my area I can walk alone, if anyone saw me 2 days ago with a table knife staring at trees they would think I was crazy.
Etch the teeth for 15 seconds with the acid and then rinse it off with a stream of water and dry. Keep the area DRY. mix the part A and B resins and then apply it to the tooth for 20 sec without letting saliva contaminate it. Place and sculpt the composit. Use a microbrush or small paintbrush to apply the acid and resin. No saliva contamination! Can use a cotton roll to keep the lip off the tooth and dont touch the back of the tooth with your tongue. Good luck.
Dude, (stream of consciousness alert) I just went to Aspen Dental across from the Speedway a few hours ago here in Daytona Beach, Florida for a chipped front tooth that occurred mysteriously that had been repaired previously up in Mass 25 years ago or so and they gave me a laundry list of stuff that needed to be done prior to chip repair amounting to $7,300. I shit you not. I did see a cool 3D scan of my mouth and was told how I need a bunch of work (my teeth aren’t that bad) and I was charged 30 bucks for the experience, but around 20 beans thru eBay is where I’m DEFINITELY at as opposed to 7.3K because although I’m 50 and smoke like a chimney and drink like a fish I still have all the choppers God gave me so I’m not cool with that 7.3 number at all. This actually is one of the best instructional articles I have seen on YT (unless it doesn’t work, but I suspect it will). Anyway, I subscribed so next what can we do about my baby-fine hair blonde racing towards the back of my head?
I recently visited a dentist to get a chip fixed on one of my front upper teeth. It wasn’t that bad of a chip but, self-consciousness took over I just needed to get it fixed. I felt like that character played by Jim Carey in the movie Dumb and Dummer. I had the same type of chip repaired on the other front tooth about ten years ago. Same kind of small chip, just the tooth on the opposite side. The dentist charged me 700-plus dollars. He was going charge me 800-bucks but when I offered to pay in cash he lowered price. Anyway, this latest dentist turned out to be a arrogant dick. He stated that he didn’t want to do it because he was afraid that it wouldn’t stick. The previous chipped tooth I had fixed by another dentist has been in place for over a decade with no problems. He gave every indication that he just didn’t want to be bothered. Now I know it can be done in the comfort of my own home. I do wonder though, how do you get the color to match your existing teeth color? Thanks for the article.
I knocked out my 2 front teeth when I was 11 and had 6 months of oral surgery to fix them. Now I’m 30 and it has cost me a fortune to get them professionally repaired because the shitty emergency room dental work originally cause much much worst problems. Please go see a dentist. That will keep breaking on you. You’ll never be able to feel secure biting into an apple. Jesus, I can’t believe people do this.
