How To Disable The Lights Inside A Gmc Yukon?

Delphi, a user on YouTube, has provided a guide on how to turn off interior lights in a 2023+ Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, or GMC Yukon. The guide explains that the interior lights can be turned on or off by holding down one of the front lights. To deactivate this feature, press OFF again. The dome lamps will come on when any door is opened or the instrument panel is illuminated. To turn off the reminder light and/or time with readings outside the normal light or chime, remove the object from the seat or operating range.

The guide also mentions that there should be a dome lamp override button just below the head light switch. Pushing this in and turning the ignition to on position will turn the lights off. To prepare the vehicles, turn off the ignition and unplug any unnecessary accessories, such as the radio and lamps. Fog lamps can be turned on or off by pressing the override button. The dimming switch that also turns on the interior lights is in the “off” position.

On a 2004 Silverado, there is a 1/2″ diameter round push-in button next to the headlight switch that kills all interior lights when pushed in. The dome over ride switch is located on the left side of the I/P and to the right of the headlamp knob. If this switch is pushed inward, the dome over lights will turn on.

There are two buttons up by the sunroof and rear window controls: one says on/off, which turns all interior lights on and off, and another that has a car with a dome light. Press and hold either/or dome light on the ceiling between the driver and passenger seat to turn all interior lights on. Press and hold again to turn them off.

  • While the information contained in this article is accurate, it does not cover ALL interior lighting. Its title suggests that the lesson will go beyond the lights above the front seats. At least two other (dome or headliner) lights are in play. Two banks are controlled by the operation of the rear doors. On the Yukon XL, there is a light bank above the cargo area. What switch/door/option drives the operation of these lights?
