How To Design A Fantastic Outdoor Living Area?

To create the perfect outdoor living space, consider the location of your living room, its purpose, and the size of your garden. Design the space to be large enough for easy walking and consider the visual impact it will have on your house. Pave, furnish, shade, and light the space accordingly.

There are various tips for creating a backyard barbecue area, covered patio, and more. For a stylish patio, consider using black and white colors. For a cozy dining area, a relaxing lounge, or a modern pergola, consider hanging tapestries and string lights.

To create a cohesive and stylish outdoor living space, consider adding climbing plants and/or a modern pergola. Connect your outdoor spaces with your indoors and take care of your outdoor lighting. Up-light trees or fencing farther out in the yard to create visual interest and expand the feel of the space. For safety, add decorative lighting to brighten the space.

Additionally, consider using a variety of textures and a cohesive color scheme to add further interest to your space. Accessorise with elegant side tables, hang unique lighting, put up a pergola, make the fireplace a focal point, add a stylish privacy wall, and add a fresh twist on a space.

Building or buying a fire pit, creating a stunning outdoor dining area, designing smaller seating areas, and filling the outdoor space are essential steps to create a beautiful outdoor living space. Surround comfortable seating with plantings that provide privacy and choose plants that help set a mood.

For those looking for a truly outdoor space, consider building a deck, covered area, fireplace, or a combination of these elements. Book a free consultation to create your ideal outdoor living space.

  • @11:14 In times like these we need convert our wasteful lawns and backyards to permaculture food forest gardens landscapes with perennial drought and heat tolerant plants to provide food year long for our family, friends and neighbors. It’s healthy and better for us mentality/physically and the environment. You will get your vitamins C from the food you grown and vitamin D from the sun. 🙂

  • Great designs! Talented. You’ve given me the ideas I need for my patio. Recently, bought a new house, the yard and patio are large… Budget is tight, but, I can see, a little bit more, how I will go forward from here. Thanks a bunch. Really, y’all got great designs, they are well put together, flows and creates a few different moods.

  • Lots of beautiful work. And great tips. I liked the vines & bamboo. Something I already planned so its nice to see I am going the right way. My slope was quite steep & is now in 4 sections a wall backed raised planting area at the end of the garden, some lawn with space for a future outdoor art room & office. A second planting area to create privacy from a hill path & road which also helps damp out some noise. The a feature patio which I am on with at the moment. Just waiting on drainage. It’s going to be the art work. Over the patio I have planned a pergola with hanging chairs upcycling my old dining room chairs. It’s a lot of work & seems impossible to find anyone to do jobs so I am tackling it myself. Just hoping I can find someone to put the pergola up. Much as I love woodwork. It’s a big job for a 5ft 4 female with ill health. By the time the patio is laid I think I will have had enough. Lol.

  • Loved all the inspiration!! Who do you contact to help you design these sort of outdoor oasis? Search your area for landscape developers? Average costs for planning consultations? Also who do you check with to see what building codes apply if you are in a city? I have a very narrow long side yard that is empty now would love to develop.

  • I appreciated all of the tips, I already have an appointment for a landscape designer next week. It needs some attention but I think the built in seating around a fire pit is something that we would use. Have any ideas for a long side of home? It’s large enough area for a small pool, but that’s not something we could afford!

  • I live in Florida. I want to design a privacy screen from my neighbors behind. I like the idea of a tall wall with a fire feature built in. I have room for at least a 16×16 deck and to keep the area clean from the constant dropping of live oak leaves I want a covered deck. I want to keep it simple. Too many bugs, spiders, snakes and lizards to crawl into built in storage deck seating.
