Mirrors can be a versatile and eye-catching addition to any room, creating an illusion of space, light, and style. They can be used to reflect light and space in home decor, and can be placed on various surfaces such as tables, walls, windows, and more. Mirrors can elevate a room’s decor in various ways, whether they’re floor mirrors or mounted on a wall.
Incorporating woven materials, such as coastal style, can also add a touch of elegance to any room. For example, a mirror wrapped in woven materials can create a coastal look. Mirrors can also be used to create a focal point in a room, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.
When designing interiors with minimal or no windows, mirrors can maximize natural light and create a sense of space. Mirror trays can be used as centerpieces for dining or living rooms, filled with candlesticks, decorative books, and other items.
Incorporating mirrors in your home decor can add instant glamor and interest while increasing natural light and maximizing the sense of space. Hanging a large mirror horizontally above the mantel and between alcove cabinets can make a room feel bigger and more visually interesting.

Stumbled upon this and I couldn’t be happier. The combination of interior design and Feng Shui is exactly what I’ve been searching for. Please continue this series!! This was so helpful!! May I suggest how to incorporate plants into a space? Or ways to ward off conflict and bring in more peace/harmony? Thank you!!
WONDERFUL, I can’t wait for the ENTIRE series – LOVE it! I tried doing this on my own, and gave up! I’m going to decorate our home in a Parisian design, and I’m so happy you said it’s OK to add mirrors above our night stand, because I was going to do just that, with beautiful pendant lightings. **Also, as we go upstairs, on the landing we have a 12′ T x 4′ W window with a GORGEOUS view of a national park with tall mountains, and beautiful trees (I’m having a reading nook built in on the landing.) As we turn our back toward the window, and continue to go upstairs, and we arrive on the second floor, we are facing an empty wall. I was thinking of adding a big beautiful mirror above a console, or a full length mirror with a thin gilded frame (think Parisian) facing the window and reflecting the view back at us, hoping to recapture that beautiful view once again. Is that good feng shui? I believe you said yes.** Thank you!!! 😊🌷
Hi there. I am south African and live in Cape town, have a very simple home and is looking at slowly redoing the kitchen which is as when we bought the house 7 years ago. So I’ve been perusal and subscribing to many interior design idea websites. And just recently stumbled across yours and is so absolutely presently surprised that i don’t feel intimidated by the glamour or that i have to be rich to include good design. Your advice is very functional and practical. I especially like this fung chui introduction. Gives feeling and soul to interior design instead of it just being practical, materialistic and glamourous.
Julie I just discovered your website today, Ironically I just purchased two full length mirrors for my home. I was so happy to hear your tips on where NOT to place them. I’ve always had a smaller wall mirror at the foyer area to my living room, I’m just used to checking myself out when leaving. Looking forward to viewing your past articles.
My toilet is reflected in the bathroom mirror. Not good I know, but I redefine the toilet to be something good…it helps me to get rid of …and I close the cover. So it is one of my great helper in life that I appreciate 😉 Well…belive can move mountains we say in Norway;) Thanks for your always good advice.
Hi, I recently started to rent a guesthouse which have a big sectional tile mirror, amber colour, in the foyer/ reception area that covers almost the whole wall with a big frame around it. When you open the front door of the entrance into the foyer, it looks over the parking area towards the entrance gate and to the street. It is a corner yard at a t-junction, so there is a stop sign just next to the entrance gate. When you go past the reception area you turn into a short corridor that leads to the dining area to the left and lounge to the right. That short corridor also has the same big sectional tile mirror covering the whole wall with big frame around it at the end of the corridor. It receives natural light through a skylight in the roof that actually lights up the whole corridor which is quite dark as it does not have any windows. That is the only fixed mirrors in the house. The bedrooms has mirrors inside the cuboard doors, which is fine. The main family bedroom has a dressing table with mirror facing towards the seating area. I suppose that is fine. Can you give your input upon the entrance and corridor mirrors please.
Just discovered you… and loving every minute of it… ❤️❤️❤️… What about mirrors across from TV… Not a mirror question, but trying to decide what to put over my sofa… I’m think about framing black and white photos of some of my favorite family pictures… not sure it’s a good idea… for some reason the thought makes me uncomfortable… maybe famous people I admire ?… or I even love old fashion photos… as in vogue fashion… I have lots of pictures of my pets… not sure where should be a good place to display them… I have a very large gorgeous picture of a white horse with light blue and white sky… I can’t figure out where to put him/her…
I enjoyed this article very much but I must admit that I watched it mainly because I am one of those few people who absolutely does not like mirrors- especially mirrors in the dining room or bedroom. I don’t know why I have this aversion towards mirrors, but all the mirrors in my home are purely functional and are mainly in the bathroom over the sink. I do have one full length mirror in my basement which my son installed for himself. It is tucked away so you have to make a special effort to look at it.
Hi Julie, new subie here from South Africa. I love this article. I don’t know much about Feng Shui but I have always known not to put mirrors in our bedroom. Funny thing is we only have one big mirror reflecting our dining room in our house (besides the ones in our bathroom ofcourse) Thank you for sharing your knowledge, will def be clued to your website for more on Feng Shui
I recently discovered your website and after perusal one article, I immediately subscribed! Your knowledge is amazing and I love how you make everything so easy to understand! My home is on the smaller size and I’ve really been struggling to find ways to arrange furniture. I’m hopeful your articles will provide some help! 💜
Hello Julia, thank you for a very educated article with the mirror. My dining room is shared with the kitchen aria. I have an empty wall next to the dinner table where is a mirror would be perfect to place on but my stove is placed opposite to that wall which might be reflected in the mirror. Its a small English size kitchen. What would be your suggest here to do as best ? Thank you
Hi Julie, great article. I have a question.. I own a condo and I have a galley style kitchen. My sink and stove are directly across from each other, if I understand you correctly this is bad chi, correct? I have stainless steel appliances and they reflect could that be considered a mirror? I don’t need anymore bad chi.. I have mirrored closet doors 😬 thanks for all the great advice 🥰
Oh my goodness!! Julie Khuu, I’m so happy to have come across your articles❣You’re a breath of fresh air ❣Just when I have no more energy to “declutter to even begin to figure out how to use my spaces, Gods timing is perfect ❣ I have watched 4 of your how to design articles. Thank you for your time and talent. ~ jacklyn
Julie, I believe in Fung shui but only started putting some of it into practice. I’m recovering from a major surgery and it’s been very difficult, but as of 2 days after crystals were hung from my bedroom ceiling and another placed outside of my huge sliding door I feel remarkably better. Stronger in mood and physical strength. I have a question re to mirrors. We have a long dark hallway and from a decor point of view I thought a mirror at the end of this hallway would bring in some light. The mirror would be facing a part of my beautiful entry way and a gorgeous piece of art of charging Orange, red and blue elephants. They don’t look or feel dangerous in any way, but protecting their baby. After perusal your article perhaps that’s not a good idea?
Very nice and useful article Julie. We are making our new house and for that I am following all your articles. I have a 29 by 12 feet room .In that there is a wall of 10 feet in front of entrance at oblique view which is continuous with the kitchen wall. Apart from kitchen I have to make a space for dining and small lounge area. In front of that wall is a big window. Should I put TV on that wall or make it a focal wall and put mirror on it ?and how should I separate it from kitchen wall
That hair is too GOOD 😭oh myyy. It’s even better than the last article I watched of yours. Colored on the outside, dark underneath and on the sides. Then a gradual transition to more color on the left side ✨. Sooo stunning 🥹. Excellent choice (on your part) and great execution by the stylist!! It’s gorgeous and unique! 🙌🏾
Hi Julie, I’m about to order this house, the master bedroom is small, I’ll probably have to place a long chest drawer ( with a mirror) facing the bed, do you recommend to cancel this house? Also, in the kitchen, the stove is built in the island with the sink facing it? Looking forward for your recommendation
Hi Julie!! My question is…I want to put a mirror in the dining space, is it possible to just hang a mirror by itself with no console underneath? Isn’ t it strange if it reflects the part below the tabletop? Do you have suggestions on the height if I do not want to put a console? Thank you in advance. I absolutely love your website.
My bedroom wardrobe has mirrors as well as our tall drawers has mirror which is opposite the wardrobe. So to the left of our bed is the wardrobe and to the right of our bed is the tall drawers. Bed head is the middle wall and our windows are opposite the bed. So yes both mirrors do reflect each other and part of the bed. Is this good feung sui? Zora
The content was very clear and precise, but still need your help. The entry way of my flat opens directly into a 20 feet hall with a dining area at the end of it. Means, when the door opens from west, there’s a wall at the end as a dining area in the east. I want to place mirror on the dining wall(which reflects the main door) as well as to the south wall of the entry way(which has windows on the opposite wall that reflects only open space). Pleas advice how I should proceed. Thankyou
Hello, Julie. sorry I’m late, I just discovered your website and I loved them so much I binge watched all of them. I only have one room and thinking of moving things around. You mentioned putting the mirror reflecting a night stand if it is next to the bed, but I don’t have a nightstand. Would it work if it is a tall lamp ?( slightly taller than my Height ) It is a beautiful chandelier stand and my favorite piece so I thought it would be nice if the mirror reflected it. However, if I placed it right in front of the mirror which is also a full size mirror, then the lamp would block the mirror and I can’t see myself . I don’t have any other place to place my full size mirror according your tips. Can you give me any suggestions? Thank you xoxox
Just found ur website today and LOVE perusal ur articles!! I don’t get much daylight in, because I live in a basement apartment.. in the living room area there’s a window facing the street with 2 small bushes right outside window. Is it ok to hang up a mirror on wall across the window to reflect bit more light in? Thanks for all ur great info shared🙌👌
Hi. I sure hope you see this question/ comment. Many of the tips are nice but when you have a semi small apartment it leaves me wondering which tip can I use. Also, I’m trying to avoid a lot of clutter or unnecessary things to clean/ move. My dream has always been to hang a mirror at the end of a hallway that faces my bedroom w/ an open door that directly faces a window (the window is in 2 pieces and there are not panel dividers) covered w/ a light filtering curtain. The hall is a little dark in the daytime despite the rooms bringing in some sun light. Question: Is the mirror in this instance still a no no?
Hi Julie! I’ve just recently started perusal your articles. Love them!! ?? We have this enormous headboard with a mirror in the middle & 2 tall attached sides with storage & drawers. There are 2 small shelves on either side of of the mirror that are glass. We eventually want to get rid of the entire set. But for now, any ideas for the mirror? Tia.
Hi! i live in a apartment and the family next door is fighting all the time, yelling, swearing etc. each other all the time. And I can hear all of it because of thin wall. Our entry doors are opposite. To get rid of all the bad energy I am thinking place a mirror at my entry door? is it right? Or what can I do to avoid their negativity?
Our stairway going up terminates on wall with alcove floor length niche. We’re thinking of putting a mirrored metal wall art design to hang on it as it looked bare at the moment . Is it safe to place a mirror by the stairway? Could you suggest what maybe good to accentuate that niche. Also the stairway is narrow and between 2 walls (not peek-a-boo) and dark. The wall by the stairway is painted light taupe color.
Question or advice: I have a full length mirror I want to hang in a hallway leading into my bedroom. It is still technically my bedroom, as it is behind my bedroom door but it leads into the main part of my bedroom. the hallway is lined with floor length windows (which would be reflected in the mirror). Is this still considered “in the bedroom” since it IS inside my bedroom door?? would it still be a negative place to hang the mirror? It wouldn’t be seen at all from my bed. I don’t have a better place to place this mirror. Inside my bathroom door would reflect another mirror and everywhere and I don’t want to see it while in the main part of my room. Thank you 🙂
Hello miss Julie..I am from philippines.. I have a 1 year old tiny house.. It is a semi open concept which combining kitchen and the dining.. When opening the front, its directly to the living and across is the dining… I decided to put a wall mirror in the dining, but my concern is that it is facing the main door.. It means that upon opening, part of the wall mirror is facing the front door, which i can see my self when opening the front door… The mirror reflects the dining, living and about 15% of it is reflecting the front door.. Id like to have your opinion bout this..tia
Is it true according to Feng Shui that mirrors also bounce back ( to get ride of ) energy that is negative and dangerous to our health and safety. I plan to hang a mirror on this wall next to our kitchen and laundry area because it faces the door between the kitchen and garage. The garage gate opens to my community’s driveway and to a busy road about 150 feet out. What do you think?
Maybe Im just really hard headed lol but I really really want to but this certain mirror (large floor mirror) in our bedroom across from the bed😭! Lol. Its been in my design plan for so long. WHAT IF, I kept the mirror covered up for majority of the time, like with a black or white cloth (idk what color would be best for chi), and only uncovered it when in use?
My entrance is big and you need to go up 2 steps to get to an open concept family room, living room, dining room. On the back wall I have a mirror but it is overwhelmed by double windows and 17 foot ceiling. Does the mirror matter? I put a 40 Swarovski ball hanging from the entrance chandelier. Does this help? Thanks for your help!
Hello Julie thank you for share helpful information. Can you give me some advice to keep the chi at my son’s room. Room has a huge closed with sliding mirror doors, a wall with a window where the other side are 2 ac units, another small wall on the other side is the bathroom and finally the main entrance is where the hall is. I can not find the way to accommodate everything.
OUr house has mirrored, sliding closet doors in all of the bedrooms. Not only to they bring in much needed light, they reflect beautiful outdoor scenes into the room, Never had a problem sleeping, nor have any of our many overnight guests. Sometimes I think the rules don’t consider how people really live.
Hello! I watched this article a few days ago and I have a question concerning having a mirror in the entry way. You talk about the front door however I have a door from my garage that leads into my family room. From the family room is a hallway that leads into my dining room. My china cabinet sits directly on the wall facing you as you walk in. There is a mirror in the back of the China cabinet that you can see the door leading from the garage to the family room. Granted my China cabinet is full so you technically have to look in between some things to see the doors reflection. With that said, does this count?
I have a small bedroom, (11’x12’), if I placed Queen bed in front of window ( to have view of doorway), and wall of closets are perpendicular to the entry door wall, does it mean I cannot put mirrored closet doors ( because they would reflect our bed)? I was hoping to use glass doors to expand tight space visually. Now, I’m not sure(?) how to go about it.
Hello Julie your mirror article you say no to almost every where you only say yes to dinning table well my dinning table is next to a balcony window with curtains and I can’t hang a mirror there because it will be looking at my bed and if I hang it on the other side it still would be seeing my bed in the mirror so maybe I should toss my mirror out and have no mirror. I have one option left can I have my mirror facing my tv please let me know Julie.
I’m trying really hard to balance the energy in my home but I keep learning I got a lot of bad stuff in my house. I put some nice paintings in my bedroom’s hallway but they had water so took them down. I found out that donkeys and pigs are bad so got rid of those because they were at front entrance. I have a piece of of furniture that’s like a book case but with glass and mirror in living room facing front entrance and window so i moved that to my office. The mirror in my dinning room faces table but also window so I got nervous and took it down and put in a closed until I can figure out where to put it. Im also trying to figure out what elements in feng shui bring luck for true love. I read that magpies, hummingbirds., and dragon and Phoenix so which one?
What about a floor mirror in the master bedroom off to the side, not reflecting the bed or any person? Or mirrored closet sliding doors that are built into the bedroom wall? Or a wardrobe unit that has mirrored doors? Or a vanity mirror hanging above the dresser, not directly across from the bed, but to the side wall — also not reflecting the bed or any person.
Thanks for the tips. I am not a Chinese but do have a lot of Chinese friends and am aware of Feng Shui though I don’t know in depth about the concept. I think some principles have logic or practical reasons behind them but I don’t embrace all of Feng Shui advice as some are based only on one’s belief, I think.
Wow I love ur articles and they are so helpful ! I recently moved out but my closet doors are all mirrors so the whole wall is mirror basically and it reflects the whole side of my bed. How could I fix this without having to change the closet doors in a stylish way . I like the mirrors reflecting in the day just not at night 😔
I’ve recently purchased a condo with a mirrored living room wall which reflects out to the balcony and a beautiful waterway. I’ve been told by friends that it’s an outdated look and that I should have the mirror removed. The living room has minimal wall space as the opposite wall has a window/wall and then sliding glass doors which open out to the balcony. What is your opinion on mirrored walls? Thanks Julie
Hi Julie, so I keep my vanity in our room. It’s a mirrored vanity, and a big mirror sits on top of it along with a small vanity mirror. Should I get rid of my vanity all together? Maybe do my makeup in bathroom…? We have 2 kiddos now, so I’m not sure in space. Lol. LOVE LOVE LOVE this article girl!!!!! 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
Hi Julie, iI have north facing lounge, not a lot of natural light & thought putting a mirror opposite was ID tip (& to reflect green landscape adorned with fairy lights 💛) back onto mirror…but it is above one of the sofas? …without a mirror there would be extremely dingy…woukd you still use mirfor in this case & thinking to cover wall with 1 or 2 big mirrors (just have 2 art deco frosted sconces on it as well)…guidance please! X
Hi! Does the size of the mirror make a difference? So many people have mirrors to get dressed ( closet is in bedroom and can’t keep walking to hallway to check outfit) and also a smaller one when doing make up getting ready. I was thinking of a mirror on the wall behind where the door opens. To it’s left is my console with tv. Not sure if I’m doing a good job describing. Also, I have one on the desk next to my bed, don’t have room for a night stand and my a desk. Ahhhh, I don’t want to bring bad energy but I also would love to make space for mirrors. The only other option is on my right wall facing directly across the window which is on my left! Looove you website, Thank you!!!
Hi, I just discovered your website and I am thankful to that!!! We’ve just finished painting our whole house and then fun starts to decorate each and every corner. Q: Is it ok to have a mirror attached with dresser on the side wall of bed? Currently, I’ve it right against my bed, like my bed and mirror o the opposite wall which I’m going to change it first thing. But my only option is left side of the bed. Please let me know. Thank you! Your are so beautiful 😀
Thank you very much for your useful and easy-to-understand article. I’d like to place a mirror on the wall in my dining room to reflect my front yard and the beautiful sunight in the garden, but the wall is also across my double-panel sliding glass doors with white wooden blinds. Do you recommend that I place a large mirror on the wall?
Hi Julie, I absolutely love the Feng Shui series. I believe we need more people like you promoting good feng shui. I just have a question regarding my current situation so I currently have a dresser with a mirror opposite my bed. The issue is we are still loving with our parents and they decorated the room for us. So I cannot just go and throw the dresser or the mirror out.. the room is too small to place the dresser anywhere else. What tips do you recommend for combating this issue. Thanks 😊. I love these series and hope you keep making these articles!
I loved this article!!! I’ve been debating whether to put a mirror in my dining room because it would be directly across from my office so it would mostly refelct that, and on it’s right there would be a window with the grid you were just talking about. Would it be okay to place a mirror there? Please help!
You said avoid placing a mirror directly opposite a transparent glass door or window 8:50 but you also said if there’s a beautiful view outside the window, place a large mirror opposite it 3:58. So, we should only place a mirror opposite a window, if there is a beautiful view outside the window, otherwise it is a big no no?
I live in a studio. Keeping my bed and body parts from being reflected in the mirrors will be challenging, but I’m going to try. My bed is near a large window that reflects light and I need to capture that light with a mirror just adjacent to that window. Maybe I can strategically angle it so the bed isn’t being reflected. We’ll see
New subscriber from London here! Love how you make it easy to understand energy. So I have open plan kitchen / diner and a mirror on opposite wall to cooker, however, we have an island inbetween the cooker and wall with mirror. The island has a sink so does it cancel out negative energy of sink and cooker? And as we eat at the island all the time (more than dining table) is it positive energy? Confused on whether it’s positive or negative, shall I move it or leave where it is????
Hola, I only discovered your website yesterday and I’m so impressed by the content and the way you present it. I watch a lot of this type of articles and this is by far the best. I’m remodeling my bedroom to help me move on with my life after loosing my husband of 30 years to cancer. Our bedroom has two walls facing each other with mirror doors in the closets. The bed sits in the middle between the two wall mirrors (neither one facing the entry door). Would this make the energy bounce back and forth in a positive way or should I do something about it? I know it sounds hideous but the energy there feel positive. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on interior design.
What do u do if there is a built in mirror in bedroom but they are panels and are positioned on the side. I was thinking of placing cling decorative paper that makes glass look like stain glass or frosted glass or place a tall plant in front of both of them. What do I do if existing mirrors are in bedroom
Love this article and learned so much. We are building a new house and I’ve been binge perusal your articles before we meet with our designer. Quick question. We have an open concept floorplan. In the dining room I have 2 walls: 1 faces the kitchen (facing the sink and big picture window with hill country view) and the other wall faces the living room (tv and corner fireplace). Would it be best to put the mirror on the wall that faces the kitchen? It might be reflecting the dining lighting as well as the lighting in kitchen over island.
It’s been 3 years but I came here because you recommended this article in one more recent. I have 3 beautiful antique mirrors waiting to be hung. Considering Feng Shui, I can’t see any spot that will really work. Can more than one mirror work in a small dark bathroom or in a stairwell? What about in a seating area in a home office? What about different mirrors stacked? I have a dark entry but was considering hanging a couple mirrors on the wall facing the entry door but they would be several feet from the door reflecting the harbor view (but slider has grids). I enjoy these tips, thanks so much!
Love Your articles ~ both Feng Shui and decorating. We purchased our home furnished and it has a big mirror on the left side when entering our home from the EAST. The mirror doesn’t reflect the front door but reflects wooden double doors with frosted windows that opens to our dinning room. Wondering if that is ok since the reflection will be our dinning table (northeast) when the doors are open. Also plan to have a cheery custom mural with flowers painted on our dinning room walls. Maybe hang flowers so they are reflected by the mirror. Any guidance you can give would be most appreciated.
Hi Julie, i think i read most of the messages so to not ask the same question. I live in a converted garage, which is the only thing i can afford at the moment. I do have a mirror above the vanity. Where can i place it as to not face the entrance door, bed, or garage door? Or should i just remove it permanently? 😁
Is it bad to have a mirror facing the foot of your bed in the bedroom? Unfortunately, the mirror is part of the wall that is opposite of the wall that has the windows in a basement room. I am trying to compartmentalize the room into sleeping area, working area with my desk which has my computer which also doubles as entertainment and an area to relax which will have a two seater sofa with coffee table. There will be bedroom furniture like dressers and I will have a couple of tall book cases which will act as my library. The windows are high up on the wall so the bed would be below it but then the mirror will reflect that back to me. Trying to make a small space work for me. I don’t want to do the tetris effect to the room like I did to my last room and make it pleasant as possible. I will have artwork hanging up on the walls. I suppose I could put curtains over the mirror as I plan to put curtains for the window. I do want natural light the filter in the room and what the mirror would reflect is sky and some grass from the backyard.
I’m really enjoying your website. A combination of a sudden move, late third trimester pregnancy with my first child, and COVID has led to a strong nesting urge. Thank goodness I found you! Have you done a series of Feng Shui fixes using case studies (including viewers who need help… ahem… bedroom-office, need I say more?)? Take care, Julie. ETA, because pregnancy brain: Yay! You’re doing a series! I’ve been perusal them.
Hey Julie, love your content! Checking in- for an apartment layout, I’m contemplating between two placements: a mirror that’s opposite a kitchen island which can also serve as a dining area; (but this reflects stove next to sink) Or the main dining area wall that cuts into the living area (ie next to the TV). (Reflects dining area and sofa) Appreciate your thoughts!
Hi Julie, I just found your website. We have recently built our own house and I’m so excited to decorate it, thank you for all your articles, I’m hooked to your website. Thank you for explaining feng shui so beautifully. I have a question. There’s an accent chair in my bedroom opposite my bed head wall, and I’m planning to put a small round mirror above that accent chair, that will not reflect my bed, but might reflect my large bed head and the wall. Can I place that mirror?
Nice articles, Julie. I have an octagonal mirror hung in a little entryway from my garage into my house. There is a sliding door in front of the mirror which is usually closed. But when I open my garage door, the mirror could be seen from outside (if I left the sliding door open). I wonder if the same principle applies as the front door? Is this a yes or no situation? Thanks!
This was really quite interesting, but also a bit of a bummer as I really love mirrors and now feel like there is almost no where I can hang one. My home does no seem to be conducive to good energy flow with mirrors except in the dining room. Also, a question: how does a mirror with divided beveled panes affect energy flow? Pottery Barn sells beautiful multi-panel beveled mirror and I’m thinking it is maybe not the best idea….? Thank you!
Hi Julie! I love all your articles! I’ve been wanting to ask you about having a mirror right in front of our front door. The entryway doesn’t have a lot of light 🙁 and there’s no other wall to place a mirror. And don’t have a nice garden outside the front door, only a nice car.. 😉 Thinking if I can get away with putting a mirror in front of the front door. 😄 Thank you! More blessings to you!
Julie what about having a full length mirror in the bedroom to get a full view of your outfit before leaving out of the bedroom? There are times when you don’t want to have to go out of the room to check your outfit. We have 2 walk-in closets, but there isn’t really enough room or proper lighting. Should I put it in our bathroom? I need to have a full length mirror LOL Thank you in advance!
HI, I’ve enjoyed the article and hope you don’t mind me asking a question. I have heard that if a mirror is facing a south east direction this is considered to help improve abundance however if a small part of it is directly in front of a window and it’s in a room which doubles as a home office/creative snug is it still okay to have a mirror there? (It doesn’t reflect the desk.)
Thanks to you🙏🙏🙏 i am building my house and i have an imagination….when i open the main door you will see a big sofa and “on the Side” of that big sofa on the back….there is two mirrors (left and right) from the ceiling 2 meters length long & then 1 meter wide.. reflecting my two big plants (left and right side) of my main door…. If it is good please reply me thank you for your help julie🙏🙏🙏🙏 *my house is facing South
Dear Julie, it’s me again : ). I have a question. My dining table is situated right between a wonderful balcony door looking at a park with a pond and fountain and the kitchen unit. Whenever I’m preparing a meal or cleaning I have my back towards the park and not only can I not enjoy the view but I also feel people passing by can spy on me without me noticing. Could I place a long mirror right above my kitchen unit exactly the way you have pictured it in your article twice and said it would not work. The unit is short: fridge, dishwasher, sink, drawers and last oven. I am thinking of having a really long mirror running right above the dishwasher right to the oven. Is that ok??? Thank you for answering, and thank you for inspiring us all!!
Hi! I have two questions. 1. I have a velvet tufted king head board 5 inches thick. On each side of our bed we have windows that flank our bed. In front of the windows we have a bed stand and lamp for symmetry. Above our bed we have 3 white circle mirrors. They reflect a gorgeous chandelier from restoration hardware. Is this ok? I have been married 14 years. Question 2. Our kitchen opens up to the living room. We don’t have a window in our living room. We do have a window diagonally across from the living room. That window is from the breakfast nook. The room on the other side of the living room is our sunroom. To pull light into the living room I placed two grid mirrors (to mimic a window) above the sofa table behind our couch. It brightens up the space. Right across from the mirror is a picture of my husband kissing my pregnant belly. Is this ok?
Hi Julie! New to your articles and so happy to have found! A question for an open concept dining, kitchen, and living room for you. My dining table is parallel to my kitchen. I want to hang a mirror on the wall behind the table which would face my stove, sink with a window above, and floating shelves on a tile backsplash. Is this reflection bad energy because the stove and sink are side by side? I do have two large pendant lights hanging over the dining table which will reflect into the mirror as well. Would love your advice. Thanks! Tamrah
Hi Julie, I have a beautiful mirror facing the end of my bed. Facing the window the big tree. It doesn’t show any parts of my body. Do you think it’s still a bad idea? If so can I put the mirror in my Dinning area however it would be facing towards my kitchen door? but no stove or kitchen cabinets reflecting. Thanks
Hey Julie, great contents! thank you! subscribed! I got a big mirror gift from a friend. Got a kitchen and dinning area in one room. Question: Can I place mirror facing the dinning table and further facing the sink and stove? or in the living room facing the window (facing a bit of plants then the street)? or, not to use the mirror 🤔
Hi Ms. Julie! I really appreciate this content! Very helpful especially when you share that it’s a BIG yes to place a mirror in the dining area. However, would it be okay if across the dinner table it has a door going to car park? I’m thinking to place a huge wall mirror in the dining area but across the table we have another door for car park. Hope to hear your feedback soon! Thanks for your help! Stay safe!
Our dinning space wall is directly across our kitchen hall/galley style kitchen with the garage door at the end and facing right to the dining space wall. Should I still put a mirror on that wall? I love the thought of having a mirror in front of my dinning table but it will also see my kitchen hallway which will consist of the fridge, sink and stove (these two pieces are directly across from one another with about 3 1/2 ft apart) and garage door. The fridge will slightly hide or hide all of the stove because it comes before the stove. The mirror will potentially bring a lot of light to this space, which is why I want a mirror in the space, but I’m unsure of what it may all see in the mirror if it is all good and bad or one out weighs the other. Please let me know what you think. We try to put a lucky bamboo near the kitchen sink to balance the stove and sink directly across from each other. They are about 3 1/2 feet apart. We have a stainless steel stove, over head stainless steel microwave and stainless facet and sink which acts as mirrors too, but will probably be adding more plants on the little bar landing in front above our sink. Does it have to be real plants or can it also be fake plants? Thanks in advance. I just subscribe to your website because I really do love perusal your articles. Whether it’s old or new since I just started perusal you since our move 4 months ago. Since our move to our new place I want to invite more positive things for my blended family. My kids deserve so much positivity in their lives that I want to do everything I can to bring good in their lives.
Thank you thank you very much for a wonderful article with full of wisdom! Now I have a question. I want to put a mirror beside a dining table but I don’t have a wall. It’s a open concert room with two side windows. there is a pillar on a corner. Could I put a mirror on a corner by the window? Also what do you think of a mirror with a tint, colored? Should it be a clear mirror? I appreciate so much if you give me a hint to renovate my condominium.
Following you from past few weeks and absolutely in love with your articles. Will try to comment more often in future. Hv seen almost 10 to 20 articles in 2 days. Need ur guidance on below: I have an entry hallway, one side plain white wall and one side there was a laundry place so i put up a mirror sliding door on laundry place. Now my hallway has wall on right side and mirror sliding 2 doors on d left n then there is an end wall n again beside of that end wall there is a small hall way towards my backyard. What sort of painting or wall feature can I put on d wall to get good fengshui. Please help I m about to buy few paintings/ framed prints/ wall.art
I julie, my bathroom is too small to have a ‘working’ space to do my hair, makeup, etc. I need a mirror in my bedroom and preferably above my dresser/drawers which is directly opposite the bed foot board and centered in the room. this is not good feng shui. what would you recommend? (I could move the dresser and mirror to one corner of the room (still opposite the bed, but not directly centered with foot of bed) and it would not be directly opposite the bed. but I feel this too would be off balance. what is your recommendation please to have a mirror and a ‘working’ surface in the bedroom?
I hope you are still reading comments. What would you do if your home sits at the very end of a cul-de-sac where the street literally runs directly into your driveway? My son and his wife just built a brand new home and the first thing I thought of when we flew up to help them move in was…OMG feng shui! I was thinking to put a mirror on the basement door that is directly across from the front door. So when you open the front door there is a mirror right in front of you, but is this going to be bad for positive energy? I am just trying to keep the negative energy out of their home.
Hi Julie, just came across your website tonight and have loved this article as I am thinking of placing a mirror in my home. I’ve found this article incredibly informative and interesting, so thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience. You’re also very well spoken and I really enjoyed that quiz at the end lol. Looking forward to getting more ideas from your other articles 😊😘 xo
Hi Julie I accidentally came across your page which is quite interesting . I have been trying to figure out if placing a mirror behind the dinning table is a good idea. I have a dinning area but utilized the space for gathering area. So my kitchen is a great size for a dinning table with a wall behind it about 90″ in width . Do you suggest a mirror behind it. thanks for your respond.
I live at the end of a culdesac and keep a gazing ball on my front porch to deflect the negative stuff from entering my house. The stand recently broke and I haven’t found a replacement. Is it sufficient to place it on top of a small terra cotta pot or is that too low to catch/deflect the negativity?
Hi Julie, I’m glad I came across your website. You seem so knowledgeable on everything Feng Shui related. I have a dilemma that I was hoping you can help me with! I purchased a home in a very nice development but behind our backyard is a cemetery. What can I do in regards to Feng Shui to shield the negative energy from the cemetery? The cemetery can be seen from the first and second floors inside the home but from the front of the home outside, it is not visible. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated! Thanks for posting all these articles and keep up the great work!
Hi Julie, great article. I’ve always been interested in understanding Feng shui and incorporating it in my newly build home as much as I can. I loved perusal your articles because they’re fun and very easy to follow. I do have one concern about my home which is that I have full length mirror sliding closet doors in my three spare bedrooms (no mirrors in the master) and they all face the bed no matter which wall I place the bed on. How can I solve this problem? Should I paint or tint the bottom half of the mirrors half way up? I cannot really afford to get rid of them. One of the mirrored closet directly faces my baby’s cot. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Absolutely beautiful and inspiring! You are truly a blessing to those of us who cannot afford to hire a designer nor purchase expensive pieces and are a little handy. The creations you share and your comforting voice magically encourages us to tap into the designer in ourselves lol. Thank you for guiding and inspiring us on this platform!Blessings 💐 🙏🏽❤
There’s a lot of DIYers out there that I love, BUT, I can’t get enough of your AWESOME creations. I know how often you must hear this, but you are beyond talented. Your art just blows me away! It’s not just that though! Your sweet, soothing voice just adds to it. I couldn’t be any happier that I found you…or should I say, that I was lucky enough to find you! I have about 8 of these placemats and also some that are kinda circular shaped with a tad different design (cutouts) and they some came in pure silver while others that i have are an iridescent silver. Im going to be using them all to “attempt” to re-create some of your creations, maybe with a slight twist of my own but i also have some beautiful fabrics so…hmmmm…i might be attempting this GORGEOUS bench as well. Thanks for being YOU! You’re awesome and a HUGE inspiration to me my friend!
I am very impressed! I have been dying to get a headboard piece for my bed that looks similar to what you did for the top of the bench, and now I can try it out ! BUT, I also want to make a bench like that one for my daughters room and maybe for my living room! I especially love the fact that I can buy whatever fabric I want as well as design.. I am all about french country / shabby chic 😊.. lots of whites and light pinks ! Any ideas for me ? GREAT JOB! I am sure your friend loved her bench
NICE JOB AND LOOKING GOOD. TRYING TO MAKE A HEADBOARD AND I LEARNED A NEW IDEA FROM YOU. CUTTING THE HOLE IN THE FOAM AND STAPLING THE MATERIAL INTO THE HOLE IS A GREAT AND EASY IDEA. THEN GLUING THE BUTTONS IN TO COVER THE STAPLES. THANK YOU, THAT MAKES IT EASIER THAN PULLING THE NEEDLE THRU THE HOLE. I SUBSCRIBED, LOVED YOUR CREATIVITY.
Woah! The staple gun on the golden fabric was so good! I have those silver place mats also! Got um at Walmart. They are sold out often, but come back in stock. They are very fragile though. If you pull on them, they break. But this was such a good job. Wow. Much have taken a long time to all of it, and to make a article while doing it! A lot of work. Great job! Turned out Fab! ❤
