With just a few household supplies, you can create and apply your own temporary tattoos at home. This tutorial from wikiHow demonstrates how to create and apply temporary tattoos using decal paper, a printer, and a few simple steps.
To make a temporary tattoo, choose your design, print or trace it, create a stencil, coat the stencil, soak it, apply more perfume, and apply it to your skin. Then, apply your prepared stencil.
You can also use an eyeliner pencil, stencil, or print one on paper. To create a temporary tattoo, draw the design, use rubbing alcohol, and press it onto the skin. Other types of paper for a DIY temporary tattoo include printable tattoo paper, which can be used for various designs.

Dont give yourself a snp esp if you’re a minor but harm reduction SANITIZE EVERYTHING THAT MIGHT TOUCH YOUR SKIN use 70%+ alcohol in a spray bottle, treat anything that touches unsanitized surfaces like it WILL kill you n use unscented antimicrobial soap for wiping skin while tattooing, not antibacterial, also use tattoo ink it costs like $5
PLEASE for the love of god do NOT use pen ink to tattoo yourself, that shit is toxic and dangerous for your skin. tattoo ink exists to be used for tattoos and theyre not hard to find and are cheap + one bottle can last you for a long time. same thing for needles, do NOT use sewing needles even if you sterilize with a lighter because the risk of infection is too high. just please use real tattoo needles, theyre also not expensive i know people are gonna get stick n pokes anyway but please just do all the research you can beforehand so you can have a safe experience AND the tattoo will still look good even in a few years. and definitely dont use this article as a tutorial as there are so many out there that are much more informative
Woop woop, I haven’t watched yet, but as a SNP artist, a fan of your work, and a fellow slc person I’m gonna say that this article is a bad idea and you should probably take it down especially if you made it without consulting someone with an up to date bloodborne pathogen training or someone with more knowledge than you. Seeing you use thread to hold ink intermixed with claims of never having done this before worries me a lot. I’m not an expert but I’d be happy to give you some info on some ways to make it safer and point you to some people that know more than me to make sure to not give you or your friends bloodborne illnesses or encourage your views to just “wing it” when it comes to tattoos. I will watch the rest of the article now and hopefully my fears are unjustified.
This is such a bad idea. You really can’t sterilize your house the way a tattoo studio is, if you’re getting a kit off of Amazon or god forbid just using stuff from around your house you don’t know the quality of what you’re getting and if it’s stuff from your house you absolutely cannot sterilize it. Alcohol doesn’t do it, you need an autoclave to sterilize things. This article could encourage so many people to try it themselves and then end up with horrible infections. Look up what can happen if things go wrong… It’s not pretty. I’m all for diy, but this is just unsafe at best.
Tips for a great stick and poke tattoo as someone who does them: Real tattoo needles and real tattoo ink, best results will come from using needles that are meant to go in the skin, and ink that is for tattoos is best cause it will last and not fade. (Pro tip: I’ve used sewing needles and sewing pins and they aren’t sharp enough to deposit anything so it’s pain for nothing) Stretch the skin and poke at an angle, go slow, you’ll get faster over time but in the beginning go slow. When you hear a pop that’s when you’ve gone to the right depth in the skin. A head lamp will help you see everything clearer. VASELINE IS YOUR FRIEND, don’t do it without Vaseline trust me, the ink will spread and screw your stencil. Use tattoo stencil transfer paper, and the longer you leave the stencil to dry, the longer it’ll stay through your tattoo process. And DO NOT wipe your tattoo, pat it down, you will wipe away the stencil and have nothing but hope to go on.
NOOOOOOOO, please, I adore your website. But this is a terrible idea! Using random ink you have at home might very well, be verrrrry bad for you. And no matter how sanitary you think you do this, you can never be completely safe, so you’re at risk of infections. I clicked on this expecting to see you tattoo (faux) leather, making it into something cool. not on someone’s actual skin…. There are a plethora of valid reasons why people go to professionals for a tattoo, and judging other comments, I’m not alone thinking this article was not thought out properly. I’m not one to police someone else’s website and tell them what they can and can’t do, but a better idea would’ve been if you went to an actual tattoo artist, and ask them if you can tag along, showing their process. Perhaps even ask if they can teach you something. I’m not even into tattoos, but it is just common sense to not fvck around with your body.
I love your articles but i really think this is a dangerous article without a disclaimer. In no circumstance should pen ink be used in to tattoo. Especially when the Amazon kits are available and you can get proper ink. You can get fatal infections from improper tattoos. Really not something to duck around with. Disappointed
i dont have a problem with stick n pokes, I have a bunch. however please do your research, NEVER use pen ink its very dangerous. amazon has tattoo ink that’s not expensive and also needles. i like your articles but this is kinda weird for you to post, especially that its your first time ever doing a stick n poke. idk man this ain’t it
this is horribly dangerous! I normally love your content but this is not something you should put out as DIY especially since you’re doing so much experimenting… if you personally want a stick and poke, live your life, do your thing, but as someone with over half a million subscribers you should know the weight and influence you carry when posting content like this. and how DANGEROUS it is.
Dude, I usually love your articles, but this one ain’t it… I’d delete it if I were you. Tattooing is not something you can just pick up as a hobby. At least do a course from a professional to keep it hygienic and safe. This was not. I hope your friend is well and okay, but if someone else might try this, some serious issues might come up. Stay safe ❤️
Not surprised, my only negative comment about this website is that safty is not clearly addressed in some of these projects. Do not share Needles! or inject pen ink into your arm without guarantee its appropriate for your skin. Common sense is not common, so please be careful trying these projects especially from a first timer doing a tutorial.
Everyone giving advice in the comments is 100% correct. I have 5 stick n pokes, all throughout the years done by myself, friends, or touched up with amateur tattoo guns. What I’m trying to get at is, take it from someone with ONLY stick n pokes, if ur uncomfortable with any of this, please just go to a professional instead. They will be quicker, and cleaner. I do not condone or suggest anyone does this without doing a ton of research. And unless you’re artistically talented, there is a lot of room for it to look bad. To preface, my first stick n poke started when I was 18 and has been slowly built on thru the years. It’s a weird looking thing (if y’all have played old school Tony hawk games, kind of looks like the neversoft eye logo) but holds a lot of memories. And my smaller stick n pokes look just fine. — PLEASE JUST BE SAFE AND DO YOUR RESEARCH. ✨✨✨
I normally really like your articles but this one is kind of dangerous man. I don’t really think this was a good idea to post. Edit: This is so fucking dangerous, oh my god. “If i can do this anyone can do this” “I’ve never done this before” Generally telling people how to do this “I think stick and pokes heal quicker” “Might as well do it” WTF Dude. How could you possibly think it was okay to promote doing at home tattoos?? People are going to get infections from this. I’ve literally known someone (we were at least 18 at the time) who thought stick and poke tattoos were temporary. And was talking about getting one as a JOKE. I had to tell her it wasn’t temporary. She was basically an adult. What do you think children will do with this information?
dude like- no- i did this when i was 13 and it ended really badly. i even used the quote unquote professional kit from amazon. unless you’re prepared for the consequences then don’t do it, which is best case scenario a shitty tattoo, and worst case a bad infection and a lot of regret. why did you think it was a good idea to post this, along with the fuckin NFT article.
you should probably private this article. This really shouldn’t be promoted or diyed. Especially that kids have access to this article and might use it and get hurt. Poking anything into your skin or body is a risk of infection and with inks you could be poisoned. Even with tattoo grade ink you could have an allergic reaction
You should not try this at home. At the very best you end up with a terrible tattoo, at worst you get a really bad infection. I’m guessing it’s his girlfriend that let him f-up some really prime tattoo space on her forearm. This article is a great example of just because anyone can do it, doesn’t mean anyone should. I hope no kid loses an arm because of this absolute dumbassery.
I should have unsubscribed after the NFT article, but hung around as a ‘second chance’ idea. This is just dangerous- do you honestly feel this is a good idea to post? Is it something you’re proud to encourage? Which is what these tutorials do – especially when you say ‘if I can do this, anyone can do this’.!!!
This the prime example of someone who doesn’t do any research and is totally irresponsible… bruh even when i did a stick n poke on myself when i was 16 i knew i had to follow some kind of sterilisation protocol and researched safe homemade inks, reading up about the history of tattoos in the process you learn of the old ways of making ink and a bunch of stuff… this is really sad to watch… and i actually love this website 😢quite disappointing
Wow I litterally never leave “bad” comments under anything but…. This article is a real problem. I am not here to talk about your technical or artistic skills, it’s okay for your first tattoos to be “ugly” and to make technical mistakes. But the health hasard is HUGE and you are litteraly putting someone else’s wealth at risk in this article. You have no idea of what you are doing and how dangerous it is. It doesnt seem to cross your mind for one second that MAYBE this is not a good idea. I really think you should at least upload a new version of this vidéo with a LOT of clear disclaimers. Or juste delete it. You have a big community of young and curious people who look up to you and just try things because you make it look so easy, and usualy thats a good thing. But not this time. Think about it, seriously.
Okay I’ve given it 6 days and the article is still up and unchanged. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Infections aren’t a joke and if you think you have one you need to go to a doctor or a hospital and not tough it out. Infections can move faster than you might think and sepsis can kill you. I’m incredibly disappointed in Shmoxd. I’m sure he’s aware at this point that this article is dangerous and that many of the comments are saying so but after 6 days the article is still up and still getting ad revenue. I really hope they’re okay but there is no excuse for this article to still be up. I’ve unsubscribed. If you have an audience you have a responsibility to keep them safe. Please don’t do this to yourself. I love tattoos but they need to be done properly by professionals who understand the risks and can properly sterilize their equipment.
I gave myself a stick n poke with a kit purchased from a tattoo artist (with detailed instructions) and I gave myself a she-ra tat in the thick of the quarantine in 2020 – a bit scraggly but I still love it! I did go over it once it was healed though, made it so much better. If you can’t find any such specialized kits though, I would suggest doing a bit of research and purchasing items directly from a tattoo supply store – and don’t skip the hygiene steps!
Bro what were you thinking with this? And why is this article still up? All I can think about is the kids and teens that are gonna search “stick and poke” and follow these instructions and give themselves blood poisoning with a sewing needle and Bic pen ink. This is terrible, man. You gotta take this down, so irresponsible of you. I’ve been subbed since basically the beginning of your website, I love your content but this is utterly disgusting of you. Do better, do the right thing, take this article down and APOLOGIZE.
Dude you might consider removing this article, or at least post follow up pictures of the resulting staph infections so people know what can happen…you’re giving people who don’t know any better really bad ideas. People, please don’t emulate any of this. Wearing gloves and using soap and water doesn’t make up for using a sewing needle and ink from a ball point pen. Neither is designed to be used on/in human skin. If you’d be hard pressed to see someone being this careless in prison, (at least they tend to make ink from water and graphite or soot) it’s probably not a good idea when you live in the free world. Splurge the $10 a box of round liners cost and if you just don’t wanna use tattoo ink, get a bottle of Higgins black. I’d only recommend tattoo ink made in the US but a ball point pen? Hell no
This isn’t it man. I don’t have tats or anything, but I couldn’t help but feel like this was dangerous. You are liking the comments saying this is dangerous, but have taken no action to right the misinformation. I loved yuh man, but I gotta unsub. I don’t know if the information you are giving me in any of the tutorials is safe info.
Oooooof this was a painful one to watch. I won’t dogpile on the pen ink stuff since everyone else did but… You shouldn’t be holding a stick and poke straight up and down. You need to go in more angled because you’re trying to push the needles into the skin to deposit the ink, which is completely different than if you were using a machine (which pokes a hole so fast/hard it basically sucks the ink in). You shouldn’t need to go over the same lines multiple times to have the ink stay in.
This reminds me of a terrible tattoo I gave myself in 6th grade….eventually I had to take a razor blade and a wire brush to break it open and scrub all the ink out….which mortified my little friends. I got all but two little ink dots out that were way too deep in my skin to get out…good times. Lol
So how do you test it? A friend had a henna tattoo 6 years ago and it was beautiful art and bad nothing happened. In late June, friend got one of those henna tattoos again on a street because it’s been a while, the art obviously wasn’t as nice, two tattoos $5 each, and after a month of nothing happening, the tattoos were forming red bumps with slight clear fluid and a bit of blood and itched instead of fading normally. They stayed for weeks but slowly faded and turned dark brown like scratches and scars do so they basically looks like their skin was branded. How do you allergy test henna tattoos and any tattoo ink to avoid this and worse? I wanna get a red ink tattoo but I know some people are allergic to it so how do I test these things while I’m not rich?
I know it’s informative, BUT PLEASE DON’T DO IT!!! INCLUDING THE AMAZON KIT… Use specific tattoo supplies bought from a tattoo shop (like online shop for supplies) It can get really ‘fun’ when this stuff gets infected so DO YOUR RESEARCH AND MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! Edit : small warning from a 2y. Romanian apprentice =)
Maaaaan, I usually absolutely love your content but here, man that’s some super dangerous things you’re doing here ! As a tattoo artist this hurted me sooo much. Ink is a serious thing, not a DIY thing ! I mean, you’re litteraly putting the ink in your skin, that same ink that’s going to be in your blood. Some ink may contain highly toxic element that could hurt your health so bad.. You could be allergic to an ink and the tattoo will hurt you forever. Please put a disclaimer but don’t ever promote cheap kit, so many kids are buying these dangerous shits…
This is a terrible article there is no disclaimer and it isn’t absolutely stupid idea to use pending as tattoo ink on someone or yourself I would highly recommend redoing this article putting out a disclaimer as it seems like this article is more for people who have just come out of prison or in prison if they have access to internet the worst article of how to do tattoos ever
I am not someone against self tattoos and Amazon kits, I have like 4 different kits of machines both kinds and this pen things that are shown in the article, please if you want to buy it DO YOUR RESEARCH these kits are only good FOR PRACTICE, nothing but the needles maybe are body safe out of those kits only the machines or in this case pen are useful, the needles too but make sure they are properly sealed and not expired, I recommend buy new needles and better ink for when you’re using in your actual body, but there’s more materials you need, again do your research your body is important and an infection ain’t fun
the application of the ink was wrong, youre poking at the wrong angle, and should feel more of a placement of ink rather than pushing it in. Try to keep your needle at a low angle, like 35-20 degrees from the skin, try to keep the bar aligned with the line you are making, and light place it in with a small flick of the needle upward when youre pulling it. it should sound like a tiny little flick with each dot. It also helps alot to heat up the solder that holds the pins on the needle. it will hold more ink and make each dot more pronounced!
I made a stick and poke tattoo on myself over a decade ago with the sewing needle method and Indian ink, and so far, it shows no signs of fading. Was it the best idea I’ve ever had? Probably not. Does it look like a prison tattoo? Yes. Do I regret it? No. I had no issues what so ever with the healing process, but I would not do it on someone else. I have the inner makings of a DIYer, and I wanted to get a lil’ tattoo. Compared to the four piercings I’ve done in my ear (no regrets there, either), the tattoo was basically painless. I have been considering getting real tattoo equipment, though.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 Jesus Christ is the only way, seek Him while He may be found, before it’s too late, tomorrow is never promised.
Ohhhh you finally did it ! That is awesome, you’re not that bad at it ! The ink always spread a little after a few hours it’s normal. With a little bit of practice you’ll be able to make some tattoo where you do not see the dots of the poke technique. I also love doing tattoos where the dots are meant to be seen, as a texture, often in abstract designs. I hope to see more articles like this ! Your aesthetic goes perfectly with the ignorant tattoo style. :)))
