To install roof rafters in a house, follow these steps:
Tilt the wall onto its bottom plate and hoist it upright. Align the wall’s top plate directly beneath the parallel joist’s bottom edge. Plumb the wall and anchor it to the joist and subfloor with the nail gun. Space nails at least 24 inches on center or according to local requirements.
Install short pieces of framing lumber, called blocking, perpendicular between the joists. The blocking provides a nailing surface for walls that fall between joists and serves as an evenly spaced nail.
Start with straight, plumb walls. Every good roof starts with good wall framing.

Install rigid foam insulation between rafters to keep your space comfortable and energy efficient.
Open the ceiling to add short blocks that span the space between the ceiling joists (studs). Use Simpson A23 with screws to attach the top plate to the joists.
Install rafter ties as low as possible to the existing ceiling to prevent the walls from being displaced.
Block the ceiling joists from inside by removing the gyprock. Remove three spans of gyprock to allow for proper support.
Doubled up 2x4s for the walls to be strong enough to support the joists.
