How To Adjust The Gm Inside Rearview Mirror’S Onstar Button To Dim?

The rear view mirror on a 2017 Silverado LT can be adjusted using the LEFT button to switch between brightness, tilt, or zoom. The icons may vary depending on the vehicle, and the Voice Command button, previously known as the Hands-Free Calling button, is now portrayed by a speech icon. To replace the existing mirror with an auto-dimming mirror, you can remove the two A-Pillar trim covers and maplight. However, it is not compatible if you have the OnStar® emergency system buttons built into the mirror.

To repair the GM auto dimming onstar mirror compass display screen, press the left most button to turn the compass on and off with a short press. The power button is for the rear view image to turn on/off. To turn it off, pop it into Revese and press the button. The lighted OnStar symbols are well illuminated but not overly bright. However, the passenger side air bag light could be dimmed as it is much brighter. The rear view mirror auto dim comes on even in the daylight. It would make more sense to turn on when needed.
