How To Adhere Paper To Wall Art?

Washi Tape is a versatile and affordable method for hanging wall decor without damaging the wall. It can be used for paper or cardboard wall decals like stars, hearts, and banners. However, customers may have difficulty using this high-quality double-sided tape. To hang wrapping paper on the wall, use adhesives, tension rods, easels, or hooks. To avoid damaging paint, use adhesives designed for the purpose (e.g., strips, putty, or looped tape). Removable post-it notes, magnetic paint, or hook and wire are other options.

To apply wall decals, hold or tap the decal up to check placement before putting it on. Trace around the decal with a pencil to ensure accuracy. For paper flowers, use command strips, blu tack, poster putty, or museum putty. Framing them is another option, but a wire curtain hanger from Ikea can be used instead. Clothes pins/alligator clips can be used to hang prints.

Wallpaper paste is ideal for sticking paper to walls, and if you don’t find any, you can make your own. Back your poster with clear cellophane tape, then use tack between the taped section and the wall to preserve it. Apply a stick-on strip to the wall and back of the hook, line them up, and stick them together.

Tacks, adhesives, glues, and pins are the most common ways to hang an unframed poster on a wall.

  • I got my first albums like 6 months ago and when I went to hang up the posters, it stayed. But when I wanted to change it I tried removing the tape and it completely ripped the edge of my poster and took some of the color with it. Then I tried adjusting another one of my posters but I also ripped it, and I was looking FORVER how to keep bts IN TACT LOOKING PRETTY ON MY WALL, but never found a way until this article so thank you SO SO MUCH!!!!

  • i hadn’t thought of using clear tape! I’ve been having trouble with some of my older posters with the painters/artist tapes i’ve used sorta bleeding to the front on the corners on lighter posters (this is, to be clear, something that happened only on thinner paper posters after the tape had been on there for ~5-8 years so it’s a slow issue) and was looking for ways to prevent this in the future while still having something on the corners to prevent damage from removing the tape later. seems like clear tape’s a good thing to try next

  • I’ve been wanting to decorate my room with posters for a long time, but every time the posters kept falling down so I just stopped trying :’) This article helped a lot tho, my posters aren’t falling down anymore :3 (btw, the posters I’m hanging are of BTS, Stray Kids, Ateez, and ITZY. Hopefully I can add more in the future)

  • :’D y’all don’t be like me and use the scotch double-sided mounting tape. two years after i did this, that shit does noooot come off with your bare hands. just damaged one bit of my wall, so i had to run to the store for those putty knives. still some of the residue, but be careful about the tape for sure.

  • oh my god this is genius.. thank you so much, i’ve been searching for a way to put up posters without damaging because i have a really beautiful print i don’t want to use push pins for (which is what i do for all my other posters lol) and everyone was saying to use command tape because it doesn’t damage the wall but i never found anyone saying whether command tape will ruin the poster when you inevitably have to take it off at some point. but the tape on the back to make it easy to remove that sort of thing is such a good idea, i don’t think i ever would have thought of that despite it seeming so obvious.

  • Ms.Mary,I’m a contractor,8 been doing paste on wallpaper for years,so when my client told me this was all peel and stick I was like whaatttt,so I watched ” at ” your article, then I watched it and you have a great touch, because it looks really good and I would just like to say good job and thanks for your help .

  • Great tips. I used peel and stick for a walk behind my shelves last year and I really could of used the tape trick. I was by myself and the pattern was horizontal instead of vertical so I was trying to tack the paper at one end and then tack it to the other and the try to peel sections. Omg goodness what a mess. Took me the entire day to put up 3 rows. If the pattern had been vertical like the brick I may have covered the entire wall. Lol. Thank you for sharing.

  • Mary I love, love, love the blue you put on your studio walls! The bricks work so well with it. My craft room is currently a pale yellow but I may just have to change it and also put bricks on my wall too! You are such a clever and creative person. It is encouraging to me to see you step into other things and share them with us. Thank you!
