I hate the way there is no details on the appliance adapter. How much silicone, where do you put the silicone, what kind of silicone, how far does the adapter need to go onto the stove, does it need screw to stay in place, how long before the silicone is ready, do all pipe connections need silicone if they are located indoors. I tried calling Dura Vent, no one available. They said to leave a message and phone number and they would call back. They never did.
Everything works as it should except for the clean-out cap. It leaks a lot of smoke through the bottom of the cap into the house on startup. (Interior “T” with the pipe going up to an elbow and out.) Then, when the draft is created and the stove is running, the smoke stops leaking at the cap. It appears that the seal/caulk in the cap may be faulty?? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Tees, elbows, 45s all leak smoke and ash because typically they are not properly factory sealed on the inside where joint sections are connected. This is a very common complaint and although the outside of the connectors can be sealed with hi-temp silicone or tape this should not be necessary. The twist lock joints work great.
