How Deep Is A Conventional Oven’S Interior?

Standard wall oven sizes are typically 24, 27, or 30 inches wide, with a cutout from the left inside cabinet edge to the right. These measurements vary slightly depending on the exact model, but are generally around 60, 68, or 76 cm. To find the right size for your cabinet cutout, measure the width of the cutout from the left inside cabinet edge to the oven.

In the realm of wall ovens, knowing whether their dimensions adhere to a set standard is crucial for seamless installation and a cohesive aesthetic. Single wall ovens are typically around 30″ tall, while double wall ovens may be 53″ or more. Most wall ovens today are designed with a 24″ “standard” counter depth, but for older installations, verify the depth of the oven.

The most “standard” range size is about 30 inches wide, 27-29 inches deep, and 36 inches tall. However, these measurements do not include the backguard. The interior measurements of an oven range from 20″ to 36″ in width, height, and depth.

There is no true “standard” range size, as many ovens are about 30 inches in width, 27 to 29 inches in depth, and 36 to 36.5 inches in height. Typical wall oven depths range from 22 to 24 inches to accommodate standard kitchen cabinets, with a total unit depth of approximately 27 inches. These standard stove sizes are designed to fit standard cabinet cutouts that are 34-1/4 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and 36 inches tall.

How much space do you need behind a built in oven?

A wall oven requires around 3 inches of clearance between cabinet walls to accommodate standard oven housing units and shield surrounding cabinetry from the oven’s heat. A 30-inch-wide range is typical, so a 33-inch cabinet is often required. It’s important to avoid placing a wall oven next to your refrigerator, as it can draw in ambient air to reduce the temperature of its coolant and keep its interior cold.

A wall oven produces warm ambient air, which a fridge may pull in, increasing energy usage and electricity expenses. Therefore, it’s crucial to consider the space and placement of your oven and refrigerator carefully.

How much space do you need for a standard stove?

A kitchen stove should be positioned with a minimum clearance of 40 inches (102 cm) in front, with a larger clearance of 48 to 60 inches (122 to 152 cm) between other appliances. A minimum clearance of 24 inches (61 cm) should be provided between the cooking surface and the ventilation hood above.

The guidelines suggest that 15″ of space should be allocated on either one or both sides of an oven, or 15″ of landing space should be allowed no more than 48″ in front of the oven if it is in a tall cabinet and not opening into the main walkway. The kitchen is a functional space that can greatly impact the kitchen design. Well-planned landing areas can streamline prepping, cooking, and cleaning, and can make a kitchen a favorite or hated space. The guidelines also cover best practices in planning for landing areas surrounding cooktops, refrigerators, sinks, ovens, microwaves, and how to combine them when two appliances are adjacent.

The guidelines do not cover ‘clearances’, which have more stringent rules and could be a separate blog. The first step in kitchen design is to prepare food by pulling food out of the refrigerator, which should have 15″ of space on either side or 15″ above an under-counter refrigerator.

How much clearance do you need behind an oven?

To ensure a proper fit for an oven, there should be at least two inches of space between the back wall and a drop-in or slide-in style range, and at least twelve inches between any style range and the closest sidewall. It is normal to cut out the part of the tower back panel that stops the oven fitting, providing ample room for the oven to fit and a gap to the wall behind the tower. Most oven manufacturers specify fitting dimensions and critical gap sizes, so follow these. It is also important to avoid placing a built-in fridge/freezer in a tower next to an oven. Best of luck with your project.

  • Ok so…why does the window glass allow grease to get in, and how di you clean it if it does? I can clean the outside glass but not the inside. For the amount of money these things cost…getting the window clean and the grey burner grates clean too is next to impossible. I wish they had come in black or I wish you could put some kind of black heat spray on them. This stove is way too hard to keep looking new..and Im no slob..quite the opposite when it comes to the stove. Ive tried everything. I wouldnt even recommend the stove to anyone at this point.
