Re-tiling an existing waterproofing layer doesn’t require an additional one. Check for drummy tiles by tapping them with a screwdriver, remove hollow tiles, re-glue them down, and grind down high spots. Clean the floor and walls thoroughly, apply primer to the existing tiles’ surface, allowing new adhesive to bond with the old tiles. After the primer dries, tile is ready. To apply Thompson’s WaterSeal® Clear Multi-Surface Waterproofer, ensure surface and air temperatures are around 50°F during application and remain above 40°F for 48 hours after application. Do not apply if rain is forecasted within 24 hours of application. Perform the splash test by sprinkling water on various sections of the surface to be sealed. If water absorbs and darkens the color of the surface within five seconds, it is considered ready to be treated. Cover plants and shrubs, move all objects that could come in contact with overspray, and remove wet overspray with water or paint thinner or mineral spirits.

Protect the product from freezing and store below 32°F. In case of accidental freezing, call The Thompson’s Company Help Line. Surface preparation involves cleaning surfaces free of mildew, dust, dirt, oil, soot, grease, and other contaminants. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly before application, preferably 2 days for wood and 3 or more days for concrete or masonry. Do not mix with other waterproofing products; variations in the final appearance may result. Concrete/Stucco must be completely cured (minimum of thirty days) and dry. Shake contents well before use and apply by brush, roller, dipping, or sprayer.

Drying time will vary depending on the substrate, temperature, and humidity. Perform the splash test once a year to see if reapplication is necessary. Vertical and horizontal surfaces will experience color changes at different rates. Clean brushes and equipment with soap and water.
