Do Chip And Joanna Continue To Renovate Homes?

Chip and Joanna Gaines, the star of the HGTV show Fixer Upper, are preparing for their new show, “Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse”, which will air on the Magnolia Network on October 14. The show pairs renovation, design, and real estate professionals with home buyers to renovate homes in great locations but have bad design or are in poor condition. The couple is marking 10 years of Fixer Upper home renovation projects with a new flip: a mid-century modern lake house near Lake Waco.

The show has already aired its finale, and the Lake Waco property renovated on the show has sold. However, Gaines is still revealing new projects, including a hotel and castle. Their latest home renovation is a lakehouse property in Waco, Texas, located in Crawford, Texas. The couple decided to remove the circa-1990s renovations and honor the original architectural styles from when the house was built.

In addition to renovating a house, the couple is also working on a hotel, renovating the nearly 100-year-old Grand Karem. The Magnolia founder, 46, opened up to PEOPLE about celebrating ten years of Fixer Upper and the challenges they face in renovating properties. The show is set to air on Friday, October 14, and will feature a variety of renovation projects, including a mid-century modern lake house near Lake Waco.

The show also helped launch their must-see destination, Magnolia, in Waco, Texas. The DIY Network was transformed into the Magnolia Network, where Chip and Joanna helped curate new programming. How many homes have Chip and Joanna remodeled?

Fixer Upper is an American reality television series about home design and renovation, starring Chip and Joanna Gaines, a married couple who own a home renovation and redecoration business in Waco, Texas. The show aired from May 2013 to November 2017, and gained popularity due to its rise in popularity of “farmhouse-chic” interior design in the late 2010s. In 2018, Zillow reported that homes with architectural features mentioned on the show sold at an average of 30% above expected value.

The show also generated an increase in tourism and economic development in Waco, where it was recorded. In 2020, Discovery Inc. announced that Fixer Upper would be revived as a launch program for Magnolia Network, a new channel overseen by the Gaineses that replaced HGTV’s sister channel DIY Network. The revival, Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, premiered in January 2021 as part of the Magnolia Network soft launch on Discovery+. Fixer Upper: The Castle aired in 2022, and Fixer Upper: The Hotel began airing in 2023.

Is Fixer Upper real or staged?

The making of HGTV’s Fixer Upper was a unique experience for Rachel and Luke, who were not used to having cameras around them. The producers would have them repeat things multiple times and film them from different angles, but the reactions and conversations were real. To prepare for the episode, they were asked to come up with a budget for their home based on the amount of renovations it would need. The budget went towards their wish list, but the design team also made decisions about what the home needed to be a TV-worthy renovation.

Joanna asked her clients to create a Pinterest board to get a sense of their style before renovating begins. The challenge was to make both Rachel and Luke happy, as they both created Pinterest boards.

Do the Gaines still have the bed and breakfast?

Chip and Joanna Gaines, the Fixer Upper stars, are selling their iconic bed and breakfast in McGregor, Texas, for under $1 million. The property, which includes two vacation rentals, Magnolia House and Carriage House, was renovated during season three of Fixer Upper. The property has seven bedrooms and four bathrooms. Magnolia House, which opened in 2016, became a popular vacation rental, with online reservations booking up within 45 minutes. Currently, the bed and breakfast maintains its Airbnb listings, but there is no availability to book the rental.

Carriage House is available for a two-night minimum stay between October 9 and October 12 at a rate of $600 per night. The Gaineses may be focusing on their new hospitality venture, Hotel 1928, a boutique hotel in downtown Waco, which is set to open on November 1. If you missed the chance to experience their bed and breakfast, consider booking a stay at their new hotel.

Did Chip and Joanna sell the castle in 2024?

Chip and Joanna decided not to sell Cottonland Castle after the auction opened in July 2023. Instead, Magnolia announced plans to keep the castle for at least six more months as a house museum. The Historic Waco Castle is staying in the Magnolia family, and a prospective buyer and Magnolia mutually agreed not to close. Cottonland Castle is currently open for guided walking tours for a limited time.

Did anyone buy the castle Chip and Joanna renovated?

Last year’s tours of the Gainses’ castle in Waco were an open house, with the property listed for $2. 9 million and offered on auction. However, the Gainses kept the keys to the castle, which is now part of their Magnolia portfolio. After restoration, the property went to auction, but the buyer and Magnolia agreed not to close. The Magnolia property has been granted a special permit from the city of Waco to resume operations as a “house museum” for at least six months until April 17, 2024. The Gainses plan to sell the castle to someone looking to live in Waco’s Castle Heights neighborhood.

What happened to Fixer Upper Lawsuit?

In 2018, a couple was ordered to pay $200, 000 in restitution for improper lead contamination in 33 Waco homes that they had remodeled as part of their television show. The settlement included $40, 000 in civil penalties and $160, 000 for lead abatement work.

What did Fixer Upper get in trouble for?

As reported by the Houston Chronicle, the Gaineses, a group renowned for their contributions to the “Fixer Upper” series, have been sued for unpaid taxes on their renovated Cottonland Castle, a historic residence in the town they have helped revitalize. The lawsuit suggests that the Gaineses may be a bot due to factors such as the speed of the browser, the presence of disabled JavaScript or cookies, or the use of a third-party browser plugin.

Has anyone not liked their home on Fixer Upper?

The popular HGTV show Fixer Upper has featured a series of renovated homes that have often gone unattractive due to location, aesthetics, or rushed work. The show, which ended in 2018, showcased homes with elevated price tags, often surpassing the average house in Waco. However, some of the homes have not lived up to the original owners’ expectations. For example, a 100-year-old cottage-style home with a rustic gray-blue exterior and contrasting white trim and porch railing was put on the market after being impacted by a car, as the neighborhood was not ideal for noise and late-night activity. Despite these challenges, the show has shown that renovating a home can increase its value, but sometimes things don’t go as planned.

  • I loved their show, but I absolutely adore Joanna and her beautiful personality. She is gorgeous inside and out which is reflected in her family, her show, and everything she does. She seems totally genuine and, even though I am several decades older, she came across as someone with whom I would enjoy having lunch and getting to know. While I have always appreciated Chip and his talents, I felt that Joan ma’s personality and talent were what particularly drove the show.

  • I love this couple and their designs. They are honest with the customers when things need to be fixed. They also prove how they have fixed very ugly rickety dilapidated house to a beautiful stately house/home with quality materials and designs. They are loving and warm family, because they never forget their children. For me Chip & Joanne Gaines are ” The Best Fixer Upper”❤

  • nothing like finding a beautiful old house and destroying and gutting it and replacing timeless fittings with cheap stuff, and then storing the good old stuff in your own shed and either using it yourself or including it in future fixer uppers as if it was at great cost to themselves. they got it for free and its still costed into the reno budget. Meh yes they did really well out of that show and business. i used to watch it here in Australia and we used to laugh about the structures and unsurprised at why some of hte US buildings are destroyed in a tornado or whatever. Many of them really aren’t built to last.

  • pretty sure they call it “fixer upper” from the saying thats been around decades before they were born. lol also it has been revealed that many times the buyer has already chosen the home to be renovated before the show finds 2 more to compare on the show. its already been “fixed”. hws that for “not faking it” great fact finding👌

  • Chip & Jo just has a special place in people’s hearts across the globe. I love modern farmhouses and crave my dream home so much I’d cry at almost every episide. Im tearing up now. I’m most grateful they are still together. It was rumored they were getting divorced. Probably due to their silent movement off the scene and nosey Nancy’s trying to get the scoop. But I’d rather they end the show than end with each other. I can always watch the reruns. Bless you Gaines Family. ❤ 🙏🏾

  • I miss perusal them on Fixer Upper. They are such a warm-hearted down to earth people. I still remember when Chip ate that roach omg. They had a marathon for their show, and we were sending tweets on Twitter, and that show of the roach came up. I twitted oh no, not the roach part. Joanna twitted back to me and said, “Don’t watch cause she doesn’t watch it either 😂❤

  • Wow, I honestly have not watched TV since 2017, i had no clue this had stopped. for at least 2 years this show would not miss me, but i went away to do remote work for almost 4 years. One thing for sure, I did always took note that they were ALWAYS focused on growing the Magnolia brand, that I very much saw. But beyond their talents… “Fixer Upper” was a successful show because of their INDIVIDUAL PERSONALTIIES. People CONNECTED with them, I too wanted to see what Wacko was all about, I didnt knew of the place before.

  • I really loved perusal this couple & the wonderful & inspiring work that they did. I was most impressed with the fact that they stayed true to God & to each other. The kind of fame that they gained, many times resulted in a split in the family. But praise be to God that they are still together. I pray that they will stay that way🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 The success of their marriage is much more important than any other kind of success that they could achieve❤️

  • IMO they lost credibility with their Christian values when they partnered with Target. The pro LGBT focus of Target didn’t add up to their image when other venues would have been a wiser investment, just saying. Also, each program was the same outcome, only a different house. I knew that at least one wall would be taken down and the colors and features would be the same. She had one style and pushed it. Not everyone wants to live in a farm house style home. She has a natural design talent, but an interior design degree carries more credibility. I don’t miss the show…you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.

  • I Love this team Chip and Joanna they are awesome, love their style in renovation and decorating. Joanna has an eye for beautiful thing while her husband does great work .He’s this silly, crazy, playful guy that makes you smile. Keep up the good works together you make a fantastic team. Love and blessings all the way to eternity ❤🙏Watching you both from Rep.Trinidad and Tobago
