How much did the kids in Home Improvement get paid?

The Kids of ‘Home Improvement’ were initially paid $8, 000 per episode for their roles, but they returned when they realized the show would recast them. Despite the high salaries that many actors earn, many of the stars who made their TV shows and movies possible in the ’90s were not compensated as well as they should have been. The pay disparity between men and women across all industries, including Hollywood, is a common issue.

Many of these lower paychecks were due to stars taking a chance on a passion project, not necessarily settling for a low-paying job when they really needed it. It’s interesting how many of these low-paid celebrities went on to become major stars with huge careers, suggesting that their gigs may have paid off in something more valuable than cash.

How much did Al get paid on Home Improvement?

Patricia Richardson, the lead actress on the hit TV series Home Improvement, tried to renegotiate her contract with ABC just before the show’s finale. ABC offered her $1 million per episode, while her co-lead, Tim Allen, was offered $2 million. Richardson, who had only been paid a third of Allen’s pay, felt the discrepancy was too much. She was ready to leave the show after working her “ass off”, and the only way she wanted to stay was if the network threw her equal pay.

She knew that Disney would not pay her that much, and she felt that she was a big reason why women were watching the show. Richardson said that Disney would never pay her a third of what Tim Allen was making, and that she was working her ass off to make a point. By accepting the $2 million offer, Richardson would have been among the highest paid actresses on TV ever.

  • Love Debbe Dunning so much! Such a sweet person and still so pretty! Such a shame that Patricia Richardson is so against a Home Improvement reboot. Not sure how they could do it without her. Also, a real shame about everything that’s been going on with Zachary Ty Bryan in recent years. He’s unlikely to be on a show either and not sure if Jonathan or Taran would be interested in doing a reboot… doesn’t sound like it, since Taran doesn’t act anymore, and Jonathan isn’t really interested in acting anymore. Don’t really know how this could work, but one possibility could be to do a Tool Time show with Tim, Richard, and Debbe and not show Tim’s home life. That could only be done for so long though and not sure how feasible that would be to make into a half hour series.
