  • I’ve always cleaned appliances with soap and water without knowing weather it was the right thing to do or not. To me not using soap and water was kind of not showering ever. I didn’t feel using an appliance cleaner was enough. Now I will incorporate the oil because it never looked great. I just knew it was clean.

  • I also stayed away from stainless steel appliances because I didn’t need another job! I have the smudge-proof finish on my refrigerator and dishwasher but had to replace the dishwasher and they didn’t have that finish! So I am stuck with stainless and it has been a pain ever since I got it. 🙁 I am so happy to learn that I was partly doing it right, with dish soap but now I will also wipe it down with oil!

  • I’ve used Lemon Pledge on my SS Fridge. After first cleaning off all the gunk & fingerprints, the Lemon Pledge works great for giving a slick-looking appearance but must be used sparingly. Any excess should be wiped off with another clean soft cotton cloth. The Pledge should be sprayed on a cloth over a sink and not directly on the appliance because whatever lands on the floor will leave a very slippery spot that needs to be cleaned off with rubbing alcohol.

  • Can you let me know what ingredients you use to get rid of steak .has I got some on lift .has I been using stain steel but donst get rid of it it make it streaky .but if this work I need to know what you use can you tell me what ingredients you use .mine friend at work just use window cleaner .I might use window cleaner but hope it get rid of it ?

  • I know this is 2yrs old, but I just replaced my 21 yr old white frig with a bottom of the line stainless steel one from Home Depot. FINALLY – there’s a YouTuber who I can watch without rolling my eyes at how stilted the tone of voice is. This is a real person who gets to the point in an entertaining and engaging way.

  • I have neglected my stainless steel fridge for a while, and decided to clean it real good. Now at first glance it looks brand new; but there are several spots that I didn’t manage to get rid of… Is there any trick for that? Tried pretty much everything in the article, those small spot and drips won’t go away. Is it possible for the stainless steel to get like, permanently stained if not maintained regularly?

  • Another couple of tips, check your warranty before using anything other than mild soap and water. Finger print resistant finish is a clear coat so be careful not to scratch the clear coat. Icons can be removed on cook tops so never use oils on the icons as they will loosen in time. Make sure your cloths are free from any dust and don’t wipe food crumbs gently lift them.. dragging crumbs will scratch the surface.

  • I personally dont like stainless appliances. They became popular because the advertised they wouldn’t rust and were supposed to be easy to clean. The reality is most if not all stainless appliances are clear coated so that makes everything different and difficult. If you wind up scratching it your in a world of hurt because now you have a scratch in the clear coat. If you try to compound and polish the scratch out you wind up with a shinier spot to deal with. You cant use any abrasives because of the clear coat. Your basically screwed! Best bet is to only wipe it down with a mild cleaner and hope and pray the clear coat never fails. Now should you have an old stainless steel refrigerator that is out of warranty and the finish looks bad. Take some bar keepers friend and a rag and polish it with the grain until the achieve the desired shine. But there is a downside . Once you effectively remove the clear coat and are actually polishing bare stainless steel you will have to do it regularly because even know its stainless steel it will oxidize a little because manufacturers dont use the best stainless steel. This is why they clear coat it from the get go. Your better off getting a regular painted refrigerator. That way you can just treat it like you treat your car paint. Keep it waxed regularly and if you do get a scratch you can buy some paint polish and buff the scratch out if its not too deep. Oh and if you buy a finger print proof one,God help you! The finger print proof ones come matte clear coated.
