In this video, Aaron demonstrates how to change the ambient lighting in the 2023 BMW X5. This feature allows you to change the colors in your interior and choose the brightness of the lights. Equipping LED lights in the interior of your vehicle is one of the best and easiest ways to upgrade the look of your interior. Replacing existing bulbs doesn’t require any extra tools and typically completes the process.
To change the ambient light colors, you need a T20 Torx bit, two slotted small, and press the steering-wheel-mounted microphone button. Then, select the color or color scheme you prefer. Two zones of color are available.
The BMW 7 Series offers ambient lighting as a standard feature across all trim levels, enhancing the interior atmosphere with its soft and subtle illumination. Plastic lenses intensify the dull factory ambient lights and can be installed in seconds without wiring.
It is possible to permanently change the color to white, but only gold, orange, blue, green, white, and purple can be changed. It makes a difference if you have 4-zone HVAC as the lights are orange at night and white during the day.
To change the ambient lighting colors, you can select “CAR” > “Settings” > “Interior lighting” > “Ambient lighting” in your BMW with Operating System 7. Swapping out the LEDs for different colors requires removing door panels, removing lighting modules from strips, and unsoldering the factory.
